Alejandro Garnacho (out) | Chelsea make enquiries

Seems like it’s edging closer which is really disappointing.

For £60 million to Chelsea, we’ve essentially swapped him for Mount.

What does £60 million even get you thesedays?

Other club would be asking 100mln for him. And why we are even selling him? Honestly it doesn't makes sense at all. One of the brightest talents we have. He has goals in him and is only 20 years old.

Well it is 60m of pure profit due to being an academy player. 60m can be recorded on the balance sheet in one amount.

But buying one player costing 60m will be amortized over 5 years at a cost of 12m a year. Which would be 48m profit on the books for year 1.

This is why clubs like Chelsea can spend so much and not breach PSR.

The club could spend 50m on 3 players and spread it over 5 years, thus the Garnacho money would cover the cost of 3 players for the first 2 years.

I have no problem keeping Garnacho as squad player, I also do not mind selling him. What I don't trust is how the club can find a replacement that is better, given the track record of our recent purchases.

Disappointing if this happens. One of the few attacking threats we have in the squad.

You'd imagine Chelsea do have a very good relationship with us considering the dross we've brought from them for high fees.

This would surely mean we are brining in a striker. We simply have zero goal threat bar Amad and Bruno. It's so so bad

"Chelsea and United have a good relationship after previously working on deals with each other."

The atrocity that was the Mount transfer should have changed that. Not even taking Sancho off our hands could make up for that deal.

If the sale of Garnacho leads to the signing of a LWB and two attackers then it could turn out to be good business.

Cunha for Garnacho would look awful in the long run.

So I'd expect it to happen.

Sickening to read this.

For Garnacho he is the victim of Amorim's system. Dorgu a left footer would be replacing Dalot as LWB, then someone like Bruno or Mount would be playing left side of the attack like usual this season.

Last night Garnacho played left side 10 and Bruno was put back as one of the two central midfielders. Usually Bruno would be playing where Garnacho is, at least on paper.

For Garnacho to stay he'd have to play as a left 10 or LWB. Both Rashford and Garnacho don't fit the managers plans and are just optional subs and useful for games like last night. Garnacho would have to oust Bruno from his left 10 position. Bruno would have to be alongside Ugarte.

The bad thing is if Amorim is gone and we go back to a 4213 which really suits Bruno central behind a front line of say Garnacho wide left. Fans like to see attacking players like him but Amorim calls for a Bruno/Mount Eriksen either side of a CF and robust LWB/RWB that cover a lot of ground up and down the pitch that Garnacho/Rashford are not going to favour and would rather be elsewhere.
Fernandes in Amorim’s system is much better in midfield than one of the 10’s as he has the game in front of him to pick passes and create, as one of the 10’s behind the striker he often has to drift out wide despite having zero pace and minimal dribbling ability.

For the 10’s to work behind the striker they need pace, dribbling ability, strong technical ability, positional sense, high stamina and work rate and an ability to run beyond the striker so outside of technical ability and positional sense Garnacho has all of those whilst only being 20 years old so with a strong coach like Amorim can be coached in those attributes currently lacking.

I think going forward a pairing of Fernandes and Ugarte in midfield with Mainoo, Collyer and another midfield all rounder coming in like Douglas Luiz covers everything in midfield and also is strong depth wise.

The perfect person to compare for the perfect 10 in an Amorim system is Ryan Giggs in his late 20’s as he could go out wide or play inside, had a fantastic work rate, brilliant dribbler, massively underrated passer, high technical ability and still had enough pace to get away from opposition players and whilst I’m not saying Garnacho will ever be to Giggs level he can be coached into being closer to that type of player.

I know this is probably a bit simplistic, but we then surely need to sell a player for £50m profit every year to balance the books across the 5 years?

So who is the sacrificial lamb next year?

It's all so stupid. Like living your life on the credit card.

Because I think Garnacho will end up being the better player.

I know you're hell bent on getting him out the door, so no need to explain to me he's shit.
Personally wouldn't hate Cunha, if we're absolutely hellbent on selling Garnacho he's a good replacement, might likely offer a bit more straight away.

We're fecked if we ever need wingers again though

Cunha is a very good player but I also don't really think he'll solve the goalscoring issues. Really need a CF for that. But also think Wolves would ask for basically the entirety of the fee we get for Garnacho for him, and in that case... Think that'd be too much.

If Chelsea buy him, I fully expect them to sell him on in a year or two. I can’t see him becoming some legend there.
I definitely see him going back to Spain at some point. I think his love CR7 will have him want to go back

Well I don't think Bruno is working that well on the left and have always liked the idea of Bruno playing deeper or in a tighter 3 man midfield in a 433. Amorim is a huge fan of Mason Mount and it would seem he favours at least one midfield type as one his 10s.

I certainly can see Garnacho being coached well enough and at 23-25 years being much better suited but Amorim might see it differently or want at least one 10 type on the left now we have committed to Amad long term. Bruno is getting on a bit, I'm sure he has a long time left similar to Modric but I doubt he will become one of a pair of midfielders for us. There's a lot ways Amorim or anyone can go with coaching, ages and attributes and how quickly we need to turn things around with a blend of fitness, experience and youth, accommodating what we have for the near and mid term, you can propose all sorts of outcomes.

One thing for sure is Dalot removed from LWB.

The problem is, his finishing is still poor as is his general passing and crossing - he does press quite well though, he's potentially a good transitional player or wide forward but most of what makes him look good is when he has done it on a quick counter attack where we overloaded them (under EtH) where he can give it to someone else with numerical advantage or do it enough to score from it.

He doesn't have what it takes to be a fullback or 10 in Amorim's system, unless we sit on him and work on it in training for a few months to see if he picks it up or not - add to it potential attitude problems and leaks etc it might be better offloading for good money now than watch his value drop and/or publicly want away next season.

I like him, it's just tough on him he doesn't suit the manager, so we either get rid now whilst he has value or waste it. The club actually seeing this fact early and looking like we're acting on it is a breath of fresh air.

This really feels like a big mistake. I know they're trying to comply with the PSR and selling him would be pure profit or whatever but we won't replace him adequately in the squad.

What if we sack Amorim?
