Before today one of them was dropped no?

Yes but my fear is that Garnacho is now going to come back into the team because of the lack of goals.

I mean I don't have an issue with him specifically but Amorim has only ever really tried Amad at RWB (when they've both started) and then one of Dalot/Mazraoui at the other WB positions.

Against Brighton though I think we'll need both Maz and Dalot at WB although I'd prefer Maz at RCB. We'll see.

If they get him, I hope we replace him with Dibling, lad would fit like a glove into our front like and is much more composed.

Dibling plays in Amad's position and we need a LAM first imo. We should get dibling in the summer after southampton may get relegated.

Garnacho should be a wing back, hes shown better work rate recently but doesnt have the energy and tenacity that Amad does when playing defensively.

Still we have not see him get a 90 mins there and 3 games he setup 3 nice crosses

Garnacho is our most dangerous player , with him you always expect something to happen . Only 20 years old and we have to be more patient with him .

No he didnt.

fair enough if you think that, I think he did and noticed many little mistakes he wouldn't usually make

here's what the MEN had to say about it

Alejandro Garnacho

Badly missed an easy chance at 0-0 from Rasmus Hojlund's pull-back. Found Antony for a sitter that he somehow rolled straight to Aaron Ramsdale. 5

He missed a chance but doesn’t make his performance shit. He then went on to create a similar chance for Antony. Worked hard the entire game and finished 90 min while likes of Ugarte, Mainoo and Rasmus were taken off.

He wasn’t amazing but certainly not shit. Garnacho is judged very harshly by United fans these days. Garnacho is 2 years younger than Amad. We seem to have lost patience for young players

He had a very poor first half and could easily have been subbed off. Did a lot better in the second I thought - created that chance but generally a lot better on the ball as well.

shit was too harsh, you're right

I noticed a sloppiness yesterday which I think could be related to his being half-way out the door

Thought his finishing was poor, but overall was a decent performance with 3 key passes and 2 dribbles. Had Amad not done what he did he would been the big story missing his chances

When you're playing as deep as we are, at the very least, he gives us a threat on the counter and someone has to stay with him.

What he offers the team is more than his goals and assists output shows.

Very true. Just tweaked the wording.

He is pure excitement when full of confidence.

He's so talented, but obviously very flawed. A very rough gem that needs to be polished up, not sold

Would hate for him to be sold but of he wants to go I'll open the door for him, maybe drive him to the airport too.

The problem with this club is attitude. Our players in general have a bad attitude. No willingness to learn, no desire to push themselves, they are coasting.

Garnacho strikes me as an emotional person and player. I think his attitude is confused but can be moulded. It's now up to him if he has the strength to pull himself out of the rot and move forward with a new style.

I trust Ruben, there is something about him. He knows what he wants and how he wants to play and he is obsessed to make that happen. We've not seen that since Fergie so if Garnacho wants to go I'll be sad, but by any means, it's not the end of the world.

Man Utd 1:3 Brighton New
I'm not really sure that he did anything much when he came on. Thought he'd have more of an impact.

I'd try him as a wingback because he's mostly ineffective as a 10 in this formation. If that doesn't work either then he's surely off in summer.

Should sell him. £50m is more than enough. He is just not very good.
The thing is he has shown he’s very good but there’s no role for him in this set up. He can’t play as one of the inside 10s. He needs space to run into. He is at least a 50 mill young player based on the last two years of his form (before this one) and how the transfer market has gone. People forget age. He could turn out to be limited but a lot of incredible players have very inconsistent starts to their careers. To the point people think they are shit. Ronaldo was one that people almost gave up on before the 06/07 season.

I mean Christ can we please stop using fecking Ronaldo as the benchmark for “inconsistent youngster”

Especially considering even at his most inconsistent he was absurdly talented technically and physically and it was obvious for anyone to see.

It was crazy people compared this kid to Ronaldo in any way. I said from the start he’s a slower Theo Walcott and that’s exactly what he is.

When last did he complete a dribble? A real one not one of those statman dave dribbles.

Rough season so far. Really like him tbh but if we're gunna commit to this manager then we should probably consider those bids whilst his value is high and spend the money on players that fit the system.

That "shot" from the angle just shows that he's not ready to be a team player.

All about him, he'd want to snap out of it fairly quickly.

Well 1, he wasn’t physically talented before he made himself so, he was bullied off the ball like no one. And 2, he’s the benchmark because he was at United. A decent inconsistent youngster can become good, a good great, a great the best. As I’ve said multiple times on here there’s like a 2/3 year period after a promising youngster establishes themselves where they then become overly confident / found out by the opposition. It’s whether they can push through that.

Did you just say Ronaldo wasn’t physically talented as a teenager?

Hopefully we accept Napoli's improved offer or negotiate a few million more. But we need to bring in a couple first teamers urgently. A Lwb at a minimum

Comparing Garnacho and Ronaldo’s pace is… a choice I guess
Alright be wilfully obtuse. Did I say Garnacho was as fast or faster? No. However he is rapid. Ronaldo was absolutely rapid (he also did get faster as he aged because he trained for it). But he again was not a physical talent. He was incredibly weak on the ball but he trained unbelievably hard to become an absolute monster compared to the stick thin wisp of a player he was when he joined through the first few years.

Again the point is people, when comparing the two, aren’t saying Garnacho will be anywhere near Ronaldo. But people can compare people’s trajectories even if they are at a level lower. Especially if there are a few threads that link it for ease of comparison.
