Yeah no room in team for our top goal scorer. But room for some of the other trash? What are people smoking.

It’s not far fetched to think he may not fit this system. He has some flaws in his game (they aren’t fatal because he can improve if he puts in the work).

The question is if the trade off is worth it (optimizing for Garnacho output vs team output).

I've been thinking about the system Amorim is likely to implement and I find it difficult to find a place for Garnacho in it.

Not defensively minded (nor physically strong) enough to play wing back; not technical enough nor with the decision making acumen to play as one of the 10s behind the front man. Where do people see him fitting in that I'm not seeing?

He runs more than most of the team, certainly the wingers and is far more determined than most of them too. He usually keeps trying again and again. Most likely he'll be fine as a wingback, at worst a good option off the bench to be more attack minded in the role

Great news that they are not fatal as I would like the young man to be around for a long time yet.

Ipswich 1:1 Man Utd New
Gonna continue to say it, but he needs a season in the championship. He makes the wrong decision pretty much every second while thinking he is the best player on the pitch.

His final ball is poor 9 times out of 10 these days. I think in the new system he might find it harder to keep his spot. He'll probably be dropped the next game.

He was awful today again, worst of all the forward players.

Doesn't have any game intelligence, countless times he was the last man with a defender and guess what he's looking down so it's either the wrong option or decision he makes or he loses the ball.

He is substitute quality, been saying this for a while along with the majority of the attack.

I’m a fan it’s good to see a young lad come through and be an international especially for a team like Argentina but feck me he’s been infuriating this season. He’s starting to believe his own hype and just isn’t interested in doing the simple thing

Constantly losing the ball, never making a pass, Rarely beating his man….piss poor is being polite that was dreadful yet again

His main issue that he doesn't have a pass on him. He has one trick and that's to dribble / accelerate and get a shot away. His link up play, creativity, quality of passing and as a result decision making when he should be passing, is terrible. He'll never be a top player if he doesn't develop his all round game.

The other one is that he isn't effective off the ball which is important these days.

He is young but man oh man sooo many areas he needs to improve in. So many.

At least twice he needed to pass earlier and Rashford probably would of scored at least one of the chances

Just don't think he's as talented as many seem to think ultimately. His technique lets him down so often and he's not so physically dominant that he can make up for it. Mix that in with still being young and selfish and it's a meh combo.

Runs his socks off and doesn't lose his confidence which is why he can continue scratching out goals and assists but ultimately if he's on the end of a lot of chances you're creating as a team, you aren't going to be a very good side.

He is not a starter. Trouble is, neither is Hojlund, Zirzkee or even Rashford.

Thought he was shit. He's slower than I thought when running. Maybe he's better as a wingback just going up and down at normal speeds.

How can you lose that much pace in a relatively young age? Who did he lose that sprint against in the beginning? It looked like they both started of in slow motion.
Without that it's not much left to save Rashfords lack of quality. Pace and a good shot was all he got.

Edit:
Wrong thread. Should be in Rashfords

young and leanin'.

He is frustrating and I hate how, despite the energy and running, much wrong decisions he makes, but I get why he gets picked, he runs a lot.

he is quick, he just does not know how or where to run when running into goal, he mostly runs in straight lines which could be easy to deal with if you are not Mbappe or Davies, players like Salah or Son run diagonally and put themselves between the ball and player behind them and get the ball into their fav foot to shoot once they are close, he does not know how to do that.

Genuinely I don't think he's quick. He's no quicker than most other wingers it seems. Gordon or Barnes for example at Newcastle look no slower than him - we don't need to get to discussions about Salah, Mbappe or Davies.

I dont even think Bowen is slower.

A long way from being good enough to be a guaranteed starter but he somehow has been for the last 18 months or so.

It's more the club's problem but he is also not that talented and shouldn't be getting the star treatment.

Garnacho is a quality player but he hasn't really played like it for a few games yet. It's kind of confusing seeing him stay on to run down blind alleys. Especially when we could have put a full back on and got Amad closer to goal.

In the 3-4-3 system I think he’s far more suited to the wingback role than the #10. He doesn’t have the technique, vision or passing to be an effective #10.

He's a poor passer, not particularly strong and not good off the ball. All of which make him a poor wingback. See how much Amad had to link up and defend - it's a very demanding role.

In all honestly I don’t think there’s a natural role for him in a 3-4-3. He’s going to have to adapt very quickly.

I thought he was decent. It's a completely new system and position for him. He will thrive under Amorim I am sure.

He lacks a yard of pace, to be frank. Could’ve been one on one a couple of times if he ran faster

Obviously. But he is terrible defending and that why Amad and Garnacho played in their respective roles today. I don't see any other explanation.

It just feels like he’s only comfortable when he’s available on a counter with no one around him. Put him into a cluster of players and he’s terrible. He has zero awareness

Pretty clear that he isn't going to be much good in the position he was played today.

I hope that you're right of course, but I dont really see it - there's no good position for him in the system imo.
