Good assist and a decent first half, then spent the rest of the game trying to lose it for us.

If he scores a third just after halftime this is a walk in the park. If he squares the ball a couple of times after that Lyon never come back.

We talk about Garnacho like he's Ronaldo reborn. But, frankly, there's no telling whether he'll be anywhere near that or be another Adnan Januzaj.

End product is lacking on too many occasions.

Awesome in the first half, but second half is typical of him.
He does not have a brain, footballing IQ is below amateur level

Can he be taught? If not should be sold. Lacks the brain imo, no amount of talent can make up for that.

He feck up so many chances but without him we have no means to trouble opposition teams.

We need some other player able to help Garnacho out as an offensive outlet. A main man.

He is closer to Adnan then to Ronaldo

His miss when it was more difficult to score was no less calamitous than Onana's gift goal in the first leg, all he got out of it was a booking. The lift it gave Lyon was evident immediately.

He took a really nice touch and played a good ball into the box for his assist, and actually passed to Dorgu a couple of times too, but beyond that he wasted attack after attack with terrible decision making and execution, and alongside Onana would have been one of the key reasons we'd gone out had Lyon not spectacularly bottled it in a way that made our bottle job seem tame in comparison.

I don't even think it's a brain thing, he's just very selfish.

He likely knows what's the better choice in attacking positions.

But he values personal glory a little bit too much. Everyone has played with someone like Garnacho at some point in their life.

The one time he played Dorgu in we created a great chance. But it was like him doing it once was justification for not passing to him again.

If you pay attention to when he does get an assist for us, or makes a decent start, it's like he's earned the right to go for personal glory for the rest of the game.

He’s the only one who stretches teams. Hes the outball in this team.

Once again still our most dangerous player , no idea where’s the hate comes from . Garnacho is only 21 give him a break , theres many other players much worse then Garnacho in our team .

Can't wait for Amad to come back so Garnacho doesn't need to play all the time. He's still a dangerous player but is playing told much

His pace and his ability to run and make runs makes him hugely valuable for us. He brings us pace and, my god, do we badly need that.

His chance for 3-0, though. He did 90% of the work very well and just fumbled the last part. Compare his finish with Mainoo's goal. Just needed to keep it low. He's missing that last 10% to be an excellent player.

I have to be honest, this was another game where Garnacho was atrocious. Yes, he provided an assist for Ugarte but outside of that he was poor and very frustrating to watch. His decision making is shocking and he missed so many chances in the second half. If he scored in the second half, that would be game over but unfortunately he wasted so many chances.

His future at Utd looks bleak and I am afraid that we need to sell him this summer. He's overhyped and bang average.

That’s 19 goal contributions from him so far at the age of 20, yet people want him sold. Does he have things to work on? Of course. But we have something here.

Needs to be sold. Badly. We can't handle his greed going into next season. It's beyond ridiculous now.

In the league has goals against:

Leicester x2
Brentford x1
Newcastle x1
Southampton x1
Fulham x 1 assist

31 games and 6 contributions, which is nowhere near enough for an attacking player on a team that wants to challenge for major things, a third of his contributions in total for the year came against Barnsley and Leicester in the EFL cup.

Same could be said of all our forwards this season as well to be fair and I thought tonight he was our best attacking threat, but he’s so brain dead at times that he costs us in decent positions and should of really killed the game with a chance that seemed more difficult not to score.

I thought he was generally good but that awful finish for the chance to go 3-0 up happens way too often.

Still, he’s an important player for us in the Europa League. No one else in our squad has his directness.

he's mor einstinctive finisher, which is the problem, we will eventually create a lot of great chances and need composed finishers like Mainoo or Bruno ( maybe he's more holllywood finisher) but except for that it's always a flip coin with a ball in the box and around. Good game overall though, he's good when he's got space to run into.

He's about 5kph from being so much better. He just gets swarmed when he has the ball and you don't expect him to get the run on his man.

Are people calling him greedy because he didn't pass it to Bruno for that 3rd goal?

Because Bruno's run was behind the defender and both Rio and Robbie said Garnacho took the right decision to shoot there.

He should have finished it better but after the pass his run pretty much made the chance himself by running the rest of the pitch.

Our fans really do like to pick a new player to hate when another one leaves - it turned to Garnacho soon as Rashford left.

Got a goal & an assist in his last two games and people can't wait to chuck him out & gets blamed for the team losing a two goal lead when it was arguably him who helped us get the most important goal in the first place.

I'm a fan because just as he can be irritating to the fans, it's very obvious that he is irritating to the opposition.

Other than the wasted chance I thought that was his best game of the season by a long long way, and I've been critical of him this season. But his ball carrying was excellent and he genuinely looked dangerous every time he got it. Just a shame his finishing is still pretty poor, and he could have easily just ended the tie at 3-0

There is no value to his directness. Almost very attack does at his feet. He either gets tackled by dribbling into trouble or takes a woeful shot.

No, they are calling him greedy because he NEVER looks for a teammate. His assists are only ever because he ran out of options.

Not every opportunity needs have a perfect run from a striker or attacker. Sometimes you have to just get a quick cross into a dangerous area and your teammates can try to get on the end of it. You can get the 2nd ball.

Maybe the Bruno opportunity it was the right call not to pass. There was one in the first half where he chose not to pass Hojlund and again it may have been the right call but the problem is he never wants to pass. He never makes a pass when he could shoot.

He’s only interested in personal glory.

We seem toothless without him on the pitch. Need Diallo back ASAP + another forward addition with pace.

I’m surprised we scored 3 afterwards though, for the world of me, didn’t think we would

I like him and expect his major flaw (decision making) to improve drastically as he matures.
Yep. He is increasing his goal involvements season by season. Even Amorim knows this, he said that he’s our only threatening and direct attacker.

That touch to set up the first goal was world class. Shit players do not do or think of doing that.

I am gobsmacked that anyone can criticise his performance last night. He was constantly our most dangerous player. Every time he got the ball, he took players on and that assist was world class. Without him in the side we are one dimensional and absolutely toothless. Yes his decision making can get better, but there are very few 21 year olds that are the finished product. My man of the match behind Bruno

I like him and expect his major flaw (decision making) to improve drastically as he matures.

Yeah, same. Him and Yoro are two sides of the same coin. One in defence and one in attack. So close to being world class and the only thing keeping them from taking that next step is exactly the thing you’d expect to improve as they mature.

He's not without qualities. But they're not actually qualities that are hard to find, (unlike say, prolific CFs, unpressable CMs or CBs who are strong, fast and ball-playing at the same time).
He's direct, he's fast-ish, he works hard.

It shouldn't be hard for scouts to identify lots of prospects with these qualities. Really we should be producing about one player a year from the academy with these qualities. There's nothing there that should be a terrible blow to lose.

And ultimately we do need to replace him with another player, because all these qualities do is put him in the position to assist or score, and he consistently fluffs those positions.

Would anybody still want to pay £50m for him? Off we’d have got that money I think we’d have found a player with the same positives that he has ie a bit of pace and willingness to run with it, but better decision making too. I’m sure I read that Nico Williams had a release clause of less than £50m, for example. Whether that’s the case I don’t know, but I’m sure there’s some good players out there. Cunha is about the same money too.

Fofana of Lyon looked like he had the same directness but a bit better control over his actions and better decision making. There’s players out there.
