A serious look at Mauricio Pochettino

Got it very right in the second half. Of course if Dortmund took their chances in the first half it could have been very different, but really set them up well second half, credit where its due.

Thie results in recent weeks is why he's so highly rated. He's created a Spurs side that don't shit themselves anymore and get turned over when they're drawing 0-0 or getting into the deep end with poorer sides, they grind it out and pounce.

Credit where it's due but Dortmund have Reus injured and there's a rumour their squad have a flu bug, so ...

If Ole played Dortmund and didn't turn it around in the second half then he'd probably lose the job and it isn't some miracle work

His in game management is fantastic. He changed it up against us too and almost got a result out of it.

This is why I still prefer Poch to Ole. Great tactical performance today. Brilliant manager all around. Get him in as far as I'm concerned.

He's an excellent manager and should be our number 1 choice but he'll be getting called a bottler again in here the next time they fail to win a game.

Wasn't conceived by the set up but he got it right. The changes he made at half-time really showed his class. Would love him at United, but can't see it happening unfortunately.

While Poch deserves the plaudits for todays' win, this forum is equally frustrating nowadays when posters start pouncing on our win (OGS in) or defeat (Poch in) after *every* game. Remember Dortmund were without some of their first team squad players too - and were playing away.

That said, OGS's record so far is equally impressive + has a utd mentality.

Spurs are just glorified arsenal at this point - winning games, but not silverware. Let's judge towards the end of the season.

Ole is great but Poch just seems to have the "it" factor as a manager. Would be foolish not go all out for him.

I love Ole, a legend but we really need Poch. We cannot afford to wair 5 years under Ole for something good. Poch has built up spurs with a limited budget and has spent zero pounds this year. Give him 200m a year, he could run riot!

Dortmund were the better team in the first half if Zagadou had scored just before halftime the tie would have a very different complexion, small margins.

Pochettino is obviously doing something right during the intervals of games as their second half upturns is a repeating pattern.

His next challenge will be to get his team to play his way from the start. First half they certainly weren't an offensive team. A lot of passing the ball around the back 4. It is easy when you get the first goal, Dortmund opened up and Spurs hit them on the counter. Not to dissimilar to what happened last night. The ref was very good this game, fair and consistent.

His next challenge will be to come back from a goal down against a real top team. Has lots to prove, but this was a very strong result.

This season he has seriously impressed me. No transfers, the whole stadium issue, star players injured, he has his excuses lined up. But he's still getting everything out of this team with some average players out there.

Saying Reus is injured is almost a given unfortunately.

Spurs didn’t have Harry Kane or Dele Alli.

Im enjoying this, I think he can do the job for us if OGS doesnt get it BUT he still needs to win something. This is without 2 of his best 3 players too.

No he doesnt need to win something.

These posts about him having to win trophies are so annoying. Were humans who hire on potential not computers who hire only trophy winners. Let's sign ranieri then.

Great coach but likely unattainable with what he's said this season, the length of his contract and Levy still being in charge so yeah.

They have a bizarre situation where it almost doesn't matter who is injured results wise.

That is until there's a chance of a trophy then it doesn't matter who is available. They'll simply drop away.

He has passed it long time ago. Waiting for Ole to pass similar assessments and he has another chance this weekend with Liverpool and until April.
I hope he's aware he's passing your test. Fair from you for giving him a chance tbh.

Moyes was hired on potential. So was Sarri. There is a reason big clubs target winners from outside their ranks. And only dare to trust potential from their ranks. Winning things is much harder than most envisage
