2016 US Presidential Elections | Trump Wins

Watched the debate and some absolutely shockingly bad answers from both sides. Unbelievable that these two people are running for the most important political position in the world.

Hillary was very laid back in this debate and her Abraham Lincoln answer was way out there. Suppose she did what she needed to do.

How does this nutter have so many believers? He can believe this but he's a 9/11 and Sandy Hook truther. feck my life.

Two former friends of mine got swept up in his nonsense. She was the initial one and he followed (pussy, ya know), both former military members which she uses her prior career to parade herself as some kind of insider with knowledge of classified stuff (she was a biomedical tech not an intel person or involved in special ops). I finally cut both off which I really hated doing that to Nate but he chose the 'p' over reality.

Thousands of people pay plenty of money to watch day-long David Icke talks about batshit insane stuff. Decent amount of messed up people out there.

There's fascinating psychology pieces on the interwebz that delves into why persons fall into conspiracies. The most fascinating opinion I've found is persons have an extreme distrust of the outer world, often suffer from insecurities in life, and have this inane need to be right with the more outlandish the belief the better as it makes the person feel superior in intellect. I would argue with my one of my former friends (see recent post to this) endlessly on her nonsensical 9/11 beliefs. Despite mountains of evidence, including actual photographic evidence used in the US prosecution against suspected contributors that depicted charred bodies (passengers) and plane wreckage inside the Pentagon, she'd always claim false or planted.

Yup I'd say that's all very plausible, the highlighted in particular is always on display with the conspiracists that post on this board. "I'm just looking at the facts to see the truth, whereas you lot believe what you're told." Chemtrails is funny because you just have to be a certain kind of dumb, but finding out that Sandy Hook truthers exist was a low point, the realm of sociopaths.

Aye, the Sandy Hook stuff is much more emotive and, frankly, cnutish than the harmless nonsense they spout about chemtrails.

Alex Burns just said one of the two parties has internal polling with Hillary up double digits. That is big news if true.

Obviously that will include her bump and his drop from the video, but will that include any data from last nights debate or pre-debate shenanigans? I honestly can't see what he was trying to achieve parading those women for a 2 minute clusterfeck, well I can, but it didn't work and I imagine it will have lost him votes, not gained him any.

It's also interesting that conspiracy believers tend to believe in multiple conspiracies not just one or two. Kristen and Nate got swept up in that hysteria and she actually got a fairly known reputation on the CT circuit (or whatever they call it in their bubble). She was a massive believer in chemtrails.

Mate I didn't watch it last night, did he parade actual women around stage last night?

Is that Johann Hari? Are we just sending you all our disgraced people right now? We have plenty more!

Yeah probably, but the big news is that he said it was one of the two campaigns. As in, he just divulged the internal polling of one campaign so that the other campaign can take advantage of it by measuring against their own internal polling and plan accordingly. Internal polling is generally thought to be significantly more accurate than the rubbish polls done by polling organizations.

Ah right, of course. Thanks mate, that makes a lot of sense.

I keep finding myself envying our @Raoul's ability to disassociate from the horror of the current state of US politics and to focus on the fact our gal will probably win.

I genuinely find it difficult to follow, at present, and it's not even my country.

There's plenty of ugly stuff out there, even considering a Clinton win. Look at the frustration of people advocating for Gun Control, improving health care tackle police brutality, increase minimum wages, abortion law, money in politics etc. This is not even getting into issues like voter suppression and gerrymandering. Clinton winning this election will not make significant changes in any of these issues, but will hold the progress made so far and look to build in small measures on these issues. It doesn't matter who wins presidential elections, a lot of control is at the state level and there's plenty of horror stuff to tackle yet. I live here although I can't vote, but people got used to this. At best, we are looking at holding the fort under Clinton.

I find the best way to follow the election is to watch the various daily narratives on the news and online. Then juxtapose the polls against what the narratives are.

- Polls : https://twitter.com/PpollingNumbers

- Polling Averages: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/president/

- Statistical Model: http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/

Once new polls are released on the twitter feed, RCP usually incorporates them minutes later, and a few more minutes later Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight site is updated.

The numbers don't lie.

Absolutely disgusting. He really looks like one as well. Also, a political rally is NOT the place for children at all, but especially not a Drumpf rally. The anger, hatred and disgusting things said, done and chanted at them is just vile and not for children. I honestly cannot believe that they don't have an age restriction on them. They darn well should have.

Shut up. #MAGA

Sputnik posts a misrepresentation so bad they take it down yet Trump cites it as the truth at a rally later. He's literally being spoonfed propaganda from Russia and he spouts it immediately. He may be brain dead.

Russian propaganda is so great it even managed to halt our destruction of the planet! Or so the presumptive leader of the free world says.

“We were up against Russia pushing oligarchs and others to buy media. We were even up against phony environmental groups, and I'm a big environmentalist, but these were funded by the Russians to stand against any effort, oh that pipeline, that fracking, that whatever will be a problem for you, and a lot of the money supporting that message was coming from Russia.” [Remarks at tinePublic, 6/18/14]

Source: https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/927 (attachments, this is the same source her quote about pvt and public positions came from, which she confirmed in the debate by answering the question and adding context)

So, global warming is either a Chinese conspiracy (Trump), environemntal groups are Russian fronts (Hillary), or we should do nothing about unproven cliamte change (Johnson). These 3 are dangerous for literally our future as human beings.* But Stein's position on vaccines is dodgy and nuanced so she's worse.

*Trump and Johnson are self-explanatory; Hillary's position on fracking makes all plans impossible right at the start.
