@Raoul @Red Dreams Here's a full video from a few days ago where he clarifies that he is referring to illegal immigrants, and his initial comments were aimed at them. He keeps saying illegal, illegal, illegal.

Trump is a clown to me but I don't see his comments as racist or anti-immigrant or anti-Mexican. They did succeed in getting him a lot of negative attention.

I'll repeat. Aren't the vast majority of Mexicans in the US illegal?

@Raoul I'm sure you can find quotes that leave out the word "illegal" but in his initial comments on the subject (that spawned all the subsequent interviews and discussion) he was obviously referring to illegal immigrants.

What in particular makes them rapists
Either all Mexicans must be rapists, or all thieves (your word for illegal immigrants) must be rapists... Or are all Mexican thieves rapists?

Its entirely appropriate that Trump is leading the Republican polls at the moment. He is throwing a lot of red meat at the base and they are responding. Shows you what the GOP is all about.

Maybe someone on the extreme right is what they need - they tried to go with Mitt as the compromise and middle of the road guy - thinking he would win over the swing vote along with some minorities and female voters.

So I say go all in - give in to the bible bashers and the racist element - see where that takes them.

The right wing nutters won't get sufficient financial support from establishment donors, which is why in the past two cycles we've seen right wingers make all the noise in the primaries, but in the end the GOP wound up with McCain and Romney. As the primary season wears on, the establishment wing takes over and starts to formulate a candidate who they think can win sufficient independent votes to win the general election. That's why I think in the end, it will be Bush.

Yup, as soon as he entered the race, it was always going to be him and one other. Still trying to figure out his main contender.

:p - well maybe I stretched it, but the fact that China are fast overtaking USA and they're just watching etc....some of the concepts I mean.

You seriously pay attention to the man who constantly bitches about American jobs moving to China but then has his whole clothing line made in China?

Right. So he should manufacture (and probably lose money) in the USA to make a point, as a businessman?
He knows the score....he's the only one highlighting it....and atleast *says* it's a problem and wants to do something about it.

It just shows he is a hypocrite who talks the talk but doesnt walk the walk.
TBF most politicians are that way but Trump takes it to another level.

disagree, but ok.
ps. he's not a politician. atleast give him the fact that he seems to care (perhaps a little too much!) - that he has to dabble.

Paz, are you seriously telling me you think Trump cares?
I think he cares about power, money and women and thats it.

what does he want to do about it?

Why is this an issue for politicians or even businesses?

The consumers are at fault.

Demand 'Made in USA" - pay the premium for home made products and not shit made in Bangladesh or China for $2 and sold for $30.

But we want cheap stuff.

cool, character assassinate!

I bet you'd be saying things like 'why don't YOU run then' if Trump just stood on the sidelines and highlighted issues.

I dont need to assassinate Trump, he does a fine job assassinating himself with every speech he gives. There is no way that man can look like a bigger dickhead at this point.

Its kinda funny you are defending Trump , you know he is only doing this for publicity....like he did the last election.

I am not gonna support him hardcore, but I am baffled at the hate by the likes of you, over very little.
If you disagree, sure...just say that, but to call him a 'joke' and whatever else....bit childish.

ps. re the bold, really? #1 in GOP polling last time I checked!

If he is really polling at #1 then both the GOP and you should be embarrassed, I know I would be.
I dont hate the man, I just think he is an ignorant buffoon.

You because you support the GOP and you seem to be quite enamoured with Trump.
If someone like Trump was the #1 democratic choice I would feel embarrassed to call myself a Dem.

Did you support Palin by any chance?

 jesus - am I? Now you know more about me do you....

 Highly doubtful he is a Dem. He's a mate of O'Reilly's.

tbh..I doubt he is a Dem either. But he did say some good things about Hillary when she was going for the 2008 nomination.

He just sounds like a bad car salesmen. Reeling off these lines.

and I just cant believe he sees himself as a serious candidate. He must be a bit surprised he is leading.

He's doing this out of a half throughout desire to make a difference combined with another half thought out attempt to raise his public profile to the next level to promote his businesses. There's a reason his two previous pressers have been at a golf course and a winery that he developed.

I want to see Webb make some serious moves...He will be a fantastic President imo.

still some ways away. so things can happen.

I agree he'd make a good President, but there is a straight talk side to him that goes a bit off the rails at times, much like McCain. He will need to reign that in and stick to his talking points if he wants to go far. He'd be a good VP for Hillary as well, and would probably guarantee she takes VA, which will more or less make it next to impossible for the GOP to reach 270.

I think a lot of dems are hungering for a Hillary alternative. We don't like being told that she is the only choice. Webb has got the balls to go against her, has he got the skills and organization?

Successful people tend to be gamblers too. I'm sure he knows his odds are long, but the pot is enormous.

some excellent points. Escpecially the VA angle.

Trouble is, most who are hungering for a Hillary alternative want someone more on the left like Sanders or Warren, which of course Webb is not. Webb would however help to get a lot of independent votes, which in a general election would make a massive difference.

funny you say that. for my politics...Sanders would be the perfect fit. But I know he is not a winning candidate. And it is not just being pragmatic. Webb just comes across as an honest guy. You may not always agree with the man. But you know he will have your back and he means what he says.

I hope at the least he gets the VP ticket.
