Listen to a after show panel on The Bill Maher Show and one of the guest Mary Katharine(Conservative journalist)pointed out that in the past Trump has made detonations Hillary Clinton, being Anti Guns and Pro Choice. I think he'll be chased out by the Republicans at some point, but not while he's sitting atop the polls. Once he drops in the polls after a few comedic debate performances, they will smell blood and hound him out.

Saw one poll results that indicates once other candidates are removed from the mix Trump picks up very little support. His best hope is for the race to stay close with a lot of contenders.

I am not a Trump supporter, but I believe his initial comments were actually directed at "illegal Mexican immigrants" rather than Mexicans or immigrants. It's an important distinction that most news organizations (and many people) seemed happy to overlook in their joyous rush to create another "race conflict" for tv ratings. They could just as well be "illegal British immigrants" or "illegal Canadian immigrants".
Legal immigrants and legal Mexican immigrants and people from Mexico should have no reason to take offense. Many of our politicians refuse to enforce our existing immigration laws as a way of buying votes with public money. It's another transparent sham perpetrated on the American people. In this case, masquerading as "tolerance" or "equality". They gleefully smear Trump as a racist or intolerant old man, simply because he advocates actually enforcing our laws. A strange world indeed...

That basically amplified the racism of the comment. Most of them are drug dealers and rapists and a minority are good people.Trump knows he is offending all mexicans...but he is energizing his base. He also manages to make people like Jeb Bush look wimpy. clever guy.
@Raoul I'm sure you can find quotes that leave out the word "illegal" but in his initial comments on the subject (that spawned all the subsequent interviews and discussion) he was obviously referring to illegal immigrants. This is just one of many reasons why Donald Trump makes a terrible presidential candidate. His bluster and overstatement end up destroying and distorting the message. He becomes the center of attention rather than the problem itself. For me it's a leap to look at those comments and conclude that he is a racist and against immigrants or against Mexicans. He is just a dumbass with a lot of money and a microphone.

Aren't the vast majority of Mexicans in the US illegal? Something people don't want to discuss. Taking our jobs (that we would never do at the wage given or any wage for that matter). Therefore, he basically called the vast majority of Mexicans in the US rapists etc.
He did quite well on Morning Joe this morning. He's starting to rephrase now and stated the Mexican government is sending criminals here so the US can lock them up.
Trump's comment was basically dog whistle race baiting designed to appeal to the fringe yahtzees in the GOP. He meant what he originally said and has now carefully omitted the rapists bit as if he never said it in the first place. His problem is he doesn't have media handlers and likes to improvise his own talking points as if he's in a room with people who agree with him.

I know that and I hope he did too. Your point, which i think you may agree with, at least in part, is extremely important in my mind. People need to shut up or accept the country depends on these so-called illegal immigrants to run. They are doing the work such as farming etc that Americans don't want to do and at a very low wage. I'd argue they deserve far more than they get. From what I've seen first hand, they work ridicously harder than most and are exatcly the type of person this country needs to be great again.
I don't know any natives who'd work in the fields here in CA. It's miserable fecking work.
