Hey! There's only 11 days till muppet season alright? In any case, that injury of his should be cause for concern in the future.

There is the same chance of us signing a well known/in demand midfielder as there is of us bringing Ronaldo back.

Not sure if we'd manage to bring him in January, but I'm feeling optimistic that if we properly go for him, we can bring him to united in the summer. He doesn't seem to be renewing his contract, and I feel like next summer he'll be leaving, especially after watzke said stuff like he's not sure on his future. Let's hope moyes and Woodward don't feck about and give them a proper bid first (like 25-30m to start off), and early on so it doesn't last all summer.

While everyone's talking of Yohan Cabaye this is the transfer that United need to make happen, or at least the calibre that we should be looking at. Throw enough money at it and it could happen, I would even feel it worthy of a deal in January despite him being cup tied in Europe, our main target is getting through Moyes first premier league season in decent shape. Would also be looking again at Herrera, he's an incredibly mobile and fit athlete, exactly what we lack towards the end of matches, obviously the fee is always going to be an issue with basque players but we are looking rather desperate.

If Herrera played for Sociadad, I'd imagine the fee would not be much of a problem. I think him and Gundagan would be excellent buys. A lot of competition too, which means why might have a selection crisis (I expect Cleverley to improve in the future - how I cannot say, there is also Fellaini too). I'm not sure it will happen, and it will not happen in January. Herrera is a possibility, but I would rather have a midfielder who isn't cup tied (if he is at all).

Just throwing this out there, but Gundogan is not CL cup tied is he? Think he got injured before the group stages started.

It's all about the back injury as far as I'm concerned. If we knew it wasn't the kind that recurs (magic doctor stuff) then we should go for him as soon as possible. A determined "throw money at them/him" effort in January plus all the most flattering words we can come up with.

However I don't see us gambling on the back injury.

Sphaero, in the "January" thread suggested that Gundogan himself would probably want to recover his form, fitness and World Cup place in familiar surroundings rather than change clubs, countries and playing styles. Which sounds reasonable.

Still. I wouldn't rule out an attempt, if only to put down markers for the summer.

With the World cup coming up, there's no way he'l move in Jan. Tuck the little boy back in guys.

But knowing Real I'm not surprised they paid it.

Very good player, probably not worth 26m mind! But selling him has put them on the back foot, i'm surprised they didn't spend money on a replacement, but then I suppose the entire Spanish League is bankrupt, so there we go.

Bilbao have every right to demand Herrera's release clause though. I think the Herrera boat has sailed, his form this season has been below standard. As for Gundogan (keeping it on topic), there is no chance we'll sign him in January. I imagine in the Summer there will be a big battle for him, it'll be interesting to see where he ends up.

He trained two days ago & will be fully fit after the winter break. I say a chance of him leaving Dortmund during the January transfer window is very, very slim.

It's on then.
Seriously though we need to try and force a move either him or Rakatic would be ideal for us, I had no idea Gundigans injury was so severe, perhaps not worth taking a punt certainly in January anyhow, see how he develops over the coming months.
Rakatic though

I'm sure the Caf can get this speculation going in the media

Tony V was 7 last September when we played them in the group stage. What's the pic all about anyway?

No no. Just the picture.
The transfer isn't more unlikely by any means.
