Fair point well made.Jaysus, I couldn't even get the two of them in Football Manager.
While everyone's talking of Yohan Cabaye this is the transfer that United need to make happen, or at least the calibre that we should be looking at. Throw enough money at it and it could happen, I would even feel it worthy of a deal in January despite him being cup tied in Europe, our main target is getting through Moyes first premier league season in decent shape. Would also be looking again at Herrera, he's an incredibly mobile and fit athlete, exactly what we lack towards the end of matches, obviously the fee is always going to be an issue with basque players but we are looking rather desperate.

I just read his tweets on the subject, but I talk to him nearly every day so I'll get him to elaborate tomorrow
He's actually a really great guy! I was going to borrow Sir Alex' book from him, but he wrote too many notes in itYou talk to Jan Åge Fjørtoft every day?
My condolences.

If it helps you, I asked him about Gundogan in the summer and he said that him to United was never, ever going to happen. The fact that he's going public with this does certainly mean that something has changed, and I've started to put alot of faith in whatever he says in regards to German clubs latelyTell him to give us good news. I don't even care if he makes it up at this point, I just need to hear something good.
To be honest, we deserve a Gundogan/Draxler window. Surely it can't always be everyone else's turn, the wheel has to stop on us once. A window like that would improve us before they even kick a ball for United, because it would send such a huge message out and I think will take a bit of pressure off Moyes too.

I wish I could believe this...
Anyway, I get where Gundogan would fit into our team but wouldn't Draxler play in the Rooney/Kagawa position?
That's the thing, I don't see how on earth he could see a move to United as the best option for him at this time. But why should he sign for a rather mediocre looking United right now, when Real and Barca are showing interest and Bayern probably will too in the not so distant future?
That would be too depressing to contemplate, probably the most depressing point being that those two actually improve on our current stock.I really hate to be pessimistic and unfairly critical but I really do have a horrible feeling Moyes would play it safe and go for "proven Premiership quality" like Cabaye.
feck. Hoe depressing would that be. We wait 6 years for us to sign some midfielders and sort our dire midfield out and in the end it's Cabaye and Fellaini we get in. That for me stinks of exactly how to end up in midtable. Ashley Young is what happens when you don't buy the right quality in the first place.
When it comes to transfers, logic goes out the window though. For all we know, Gundogans biggest wish is to play next to Ryan Giggs Logic says that Özil should've stayed at Real Madrid, rather than go to Arsenal. Logic says that Suarez should've moved to Real rather than stay at Liverpool. Those things are impossible to predict, and i'd rather stay positive when given a choice about hoping of a transfer up until the point where the player has made up his mind.
This Thiago thing is a weird one. I read an interview with Thiago where he said that he had no contact at all from Utd and that there was no approach. Its grown its own legs, twitter rumours become fact.....After the Thiago fiasco I have lost all faith.

Thought he was Madrid bound but since Jan says United is still a possibility, I don't know what to think anymore.
Just what the rumours are. That Madrid have some agreement or first option on him, and that he wants to go to Madrid. Alonso is in his final year of his contract and I suspect they will sell Khedira. Sahin will probably go back to Dortmund. Barcelona are also chasing Gundogan I think. Why Madrid though? Sahin went there and we all saw how bad that went.
They already have Modric, Alonso, Khedira, Illaramendi and Sahin still on their books, I think we have just a good a chance aslong as we pay up what is required.

Too soon to judge, I think he's now just played 2 or 3 games after his injury, I think in total he had 8 games and a couple of them were as a sub.How good is Thiago doing anyways?
Only played 5 games so far after he returned from injury, but he's done very good. Though it's hard to say something different about any of our players this season. The whole squad has been outstanding so far. He's starting tonight, should be interesting how he plays against City, at least if City is playing a close to full strength team. How good is Thiago doing anyways?
German newbie said that Jan is not well connected except to BILD, who themselves are not reliable unless it's about Bayern or Schalke.
