While at Nurnberg he said - "playing for Manchester United would be a great thing to do one day." And he has also said "Everyone has a childhood dream on what he would like to achieve one day and my dream always was to play in England or Spain."

I'd like to think we had a chance if he was available, even if Madrid or Barca want him.

I think we'd have a chance. I don't see us matching a potential transfer though, so he'd have to explicitly want to play for us. We'd definitely increase his wages at least.

Nah we'll have it wrapped up nice and early. Confirmed in March, with the squad after he's had a good rest after winning the World Cup at the end of July.

has there even been anything relatively concrete in regards to this potential transfer?
or are people just wanking off because he's a top player playing a role we're in need of?

Rene has stated that he's the one player in the world that Manchester United need. That's it, apparently.

I hope Moyes shares his thoughts then. Seeing as he was prepared to bid high for Fabregas I don't see why he wouldn't give Gundogan a chance.
Then again Rene's comment honestly means jack shit seeing as he's no longer in our staff.

Joachim Watzke says he doesn't know if Gundogan will renew.

Not happening. No Dortmund player will go to United while Klopp is in charge, he won't want another Kagawa scenario and he would be adivising his players to stay clear.

Just like he will advise them to avoid Madrid too?. What B.S that is. Klopp will not care where anybody moves if they want to leave, then so be it.

Is there a more suitable player for us to (vaguely realistically) sign? He'd be perfect for our midfield. I do feel someone will get him in January.

Vidal / Gundogan are the only 2 from the top of my head that can play in a 2 man midfield and absolutely raise us too the next level.

I'd agree with that. Both at decent ages to be the core of the side for a good length of time too.

What Kagawa scenario is this that affects Klopp? I,E the fact he hasn't got many games at Utd means nothing to Klopp?

Vidal is not going anywhere, lets see how Gundogan does on his return, back injuries are tricky and nearly always end up being chronic. He would be a quality signing though.

Why? It is not like we took Kagawa through hostile way or by tapping-up. He was in last year of contract, didn't want to renew and we submitted a bid which didn't take Dortmund long to accept and they did accept it without any complications or resistance. I don't think there are any problems there within clubs. Only problem for us is, there will be teams like Madrid jumping in to sign him in case Gundogan doesn't want to renew and then we will have uphill battle to sign him.

Badly phrased that but it's fair to say Klopp could put doubt in a wantaway players' mind pointing out the Kagawa case.

He has a vendetta against United? Gundogan would be far more suited to the EPL than Kagawa. I would be delighted with a swap plus some money, it's almost a perfect win-win for each side: we get the CM we've always dreamed of, and Klopp gets his beloved Mitsubishi back!

True, but would the player be that skewed? Kagawa, inspite of any words, was bought as an AM, where we have Rooney. Gundogan if bought, would contend with people like Anderson and Clev, slightly different proposition...

Its actually playing into our hands with him being injured just now - if he was playing and being hyped, Madrid would be all over him. Regardless of his undoubted quality, Madrid (or rather Perez) wont go looking on this one just yet.

Gives us a glimmer of hope....just a glimmer mind!

No way he'll leave Dortmund in January.

And he's out since August with a back injury.

Marca etc think Madrid have already approached him and may have an agreement in principle in place.

That doesn't mean anything in reality, except that hoping they've forgotten about him is wishful thinking.

No chance of him moving in January, obviously. I wouldn't say we have zero chance of signing him in the summer though. If a club like Madrid are interested than it becomes very unlikely, but it depends on the player really. Certainly worth attempting at least, particularly as we spent last summer chasing a transfer that was far less likely in Cesc.

Sahin will tell him Madrid is shit and when Kagawa goes back next summer he'll tell him how shit United is. Next..

We missed out on Vidal when he was available 2 years ago and he's also just signed a new contract at Juventus few days ago.

Jan Åge Fjørtoft, who seems to have very decent connections in Germany, seems to think that Gundogan to United is a possibility
