DDG has nothing to do with this deal. This isn't an American sport where you are balancing out contracts via trades to stay under a salary cap.

If we want him and he is up for it he will be in red next season.
He does. We need something Madrid has and we have something they want. If you are not ready to give them what they want, then dont complain if they make it unnecessarily difficult for you to get what you need.

We shouldn't weaken that position with the league so tight and close. Yes we need a top keeper and oblak is the only one next to de gea and buyable. Donna has 2-3 years to develop.
The league is not close for us after finishing 6th. and keeping DDG will not bring us any closer to it.

Fortunately/unfortunately, Madrid have two players that would go a long way towards making us competitive in the league and if the price is taking a step down from a WC GK to a very good GK, I am fine with that. None of Casillas (in 2015), Ter Stergen nor Navas were WC GKs imo but that did not stop their teams from winning the CL, beating teams that had WC GKs. The GK is the least valauble spot in contributing to a teams success. Until we are almost stacked at all other positions, I wont be worried as long as we have a good GK.

We need to assemble a quality squad that can compete for titles as soon as possible, before players like Herrera and Valencia start joining the list of declining players that need to be replaced.

Don't understand why people are getting baffled by the price tag.

In today's market any half decent striker would cost at least 60m.

It's not 2009 anymore.

We don't need to sell anyone to buy. Pointless. The league will be pretty close next year.

Gone are the days of that mentality, a goal keeper is as important as other players.

70m is fair for everyone involved. I don't think Madrid will play with this because the player is more than happy to stay there.

One way to get Perez to capitulate would be to exponentially raise the asking price for De Gea 10m for every 10m we think Morata is overpriced.

yes the league will be pretty close, and I will be the next pope.

Atletico, Juve, Bayern and the wole of football history is proof that a GK is not as important as other players

Or morata has no intention on leaving and Perez knows that, so he can bend us over a barrel and go to town.

Our football history says otherwise. We all remember the time between schmeichael and vandersar, also who's save won us the ucl.

If that were he case there wouldn't even be an asking price. He is most likely leaving if Mbappe is coming.

Perez probably wants him to go, but with the player openly asking to stay in the press, that means perez can ask for stupid fees. They have all the cards.

One of the e reasons why i hate Real, they like to think they can tap up any player without respecting the rights of other clubs.

We should walk away from this deal and if they ever decide to come for DDG or any otjer player we should add a Real tax of an additional £50m.

Because hes a back up, and at Juventus before last season he was also considered a backup.
78mill they're asking for a player whos never been considered a teams first choice striker in his career to date.

I like Morata because he can play Fellanni's roles in Jose's tactics to much higher standard. Mind you, I actually feel Fellanni is very useful last season especially as an effective outlet to relieve pressure when we are pressed and he also provided aerial threads in attack and defense.

60m Euro is fair but 90m is crazy money. However, if United feel that he is worth the money and he can improve further then I have no complaints.

I'm pretty confident its the other way around. With the WC approaching, he can't afford another year on the bench or being a bit part player.

Juve and Bayern have Buffon and Neuer, two of the best keepers in the history of the game. How exactly does that prove that GK's are not important?

DDG has easily been our most important player since SAF left as well. He didn't get all those POTY awards just for fun.

These feckers have some cheek, we sold them one of the best players of all time for the same amount.

His point is even though Bayern and Juve have greatest keepers they lost against Madrid.

So if they didn't have the buyback clause they probably could have got him for less. Considering Juve was offering less to sign him perminately, which is why they paid the clause in the first place. He's not a bench warmer for that reason. Ronaldo I get but if he was truely brilliant he would be replacing Benzema. Do you think Suarez, Aguero, Abumeyang would be sitting on the bench for Benzema? No chance.

He has proven he can actually replace Benzema. A sizeable number of Madrid fans have been asking for this.

Yet if Di Marzio is correct about the Milan personal terms and wife, he's already backtracked from a milan move in the same interview where he said he wanted to stay. He doesn't seem to be in a rush to leave.

Didn't his Dad say only United have inquired ? Would seem to undercut other reports about Milan.

I think we can find some middle ground in this negotiation if we really need him,may be its time to add some add on on which Madrid can't refuse,60 M pound would be fair price in today's inflated market.

I'd like him at United, but that price is outrageous, we'd be fecking ourselves over for every transfer there after, along with the distorting the whole market for the forseeable future paying that for him.
He's been a squad player so far in his career, even in todays market for 78mill you should be signing someone approaching world class.

If Morata is desperate to join United. If he is hungry, if coming will mean a lot to him and he is willing to push for a move, then I'll say, go for him, pay the money. It will be worth it. But if he is not so keen on joining us, then we really need to walk away from this.

The reality is that Morata has huge potential. His future looks very bright. Nevertheless, his stats, as at now, do not justify his high price tag. But if his potential comes with a real passion to play for United, then paying up for him, might be really worth the risk.

Well it's still not a very good point either way. Losing against Real Madrid in one or two games is hardly proof that your goalkeeper isn't important.

He's not "desperate to join" He's openly stated to the media that he loves his city and wants to stay with Madrid.

Obviously. But can you argue with someone who is so desperate for us to sign Morata and James?

It's called negotiation. You name the price, I put mine. They might want 90m all with adds on.

Can't blame them. They read United paid an average player 100k/wk in 4 yr contract, and they think we are loaded.
