Álvaro Morata | Chelsea player

I'd love him here but I'd be more than happy if we didn't return after that first bid.

Madrid won't find anyone else ready to pay £50M for him let alone the joke price they want.

Completely agree. I'm a fan of Morata but we shouldn't go back after that first bid.

Thing is, a lot said Pogba wasn't worth his fee (many still do). Ultimately, its a sellsers market so the prices will all seem inflated this summer.

Problem is, by succumbing to every ridiculous asking price you become the idiot in the market everybody inflates the prices for. So in the long run, it might work better to just pass on this deal and take a punt on something cheaper.

Let Florentino spend €130m on Mbappe and then have Morata badgering him for a transfer for a whole year until he gets sold for €30m back to Italy. That, I'll probably enjoy.

Morata is not a target man. Only lukaku or Celtic moussa dembele fits that profile.

Icardi from inter should also.

Watched videos for him and his hold-up play is excellent. He's not Zlatan-esque that will drop to the midfield all the time, but he'll still be a target for the balls, control and hold it and allows the others to enter the game.

I really do like him and think he can develop into great striker but based on his career so far, the fact that he is their squad player and that this most likely won't change in the near future, that offer from us is, even in this inflated market, more than acceptable.

Nobody for sure will offer what they asked and don't see currently anyone who would offer as much as we do.

Even if we get Morata, we need to add at least one more goal scorer in the squad, preferrably a winger who has a decent goal return. So damn important

Where should we go instead?

There's still Aubameyang and Lacazette on the market. There's also Belotti, but I can't comment on whether he's worth his high release clause.

Regardless, It's better than paying the ludicrous asking price of £78m or even close to that.

With Mbappé in mind, it seems I'm seriously out of touch with the current market prices.

Higuain cost €90 million last summer. Everyone is out of touch based on prices (and before someone points out the 32 goals Higuain scored for Juve last year, lets recall how dominant Juve are in Italy and that any top level striker playing for Juve would've done the same).

So if they didn't have the buyback clause they probably could have got him for less. Considering Juve was offering less to sign him perminately, which is why they paid the clause in the first place. He's not a bench warmer for that reason. Ronaldo I get but if he was truely brilliant he would be replacing Benzema. Do you think Suarez, Aguero, Abumeyang would be sitting on the bench for Benzema? No chance.
As long as Zidane remains coach and Perez president, only Mbappe or Hazard will get ahead of Benzema next season

How much are Cristiano and Messi worth in todays market ffs? It's getting a bit ridiculous tbh.
I don't think we could afford either of them even if we threw every penny we had at them. The only way they could ever be bought is with a Shiekh's oil money.

Has he ever scored 20 plus goals in a single season and has been consistant enough?

He's like the younger version of the post Liverpool Fernando Torres. Scores important goals but flatters to deceive.

Morata was useless in the Serie A.

Can't we just abandon this and hijack the dipper's VDV bid...? We need a CB anyway, and at least we'd know we're getting a proper player for our dough.

I know I sound really down on this transfer but it's the culmination -

Griezmann off - not that bothered, as I thought it meant another top player would be coming in
Rom to Chelsea - this one hurts as I personally really wanted him
Morata for stupid money - it's the fact that this will be our #9 signing, it means no Rom, no Mbappe, no Lacazette - instead we get a Real reject who's totally unproven in the PL.

It's just really uninspiring to me, and makes me wonder what type of footy we'll be watching next season.

This is a big, big transfer window for Mourinho and Woodward, and if this is the way it's gonna pan out - I would worry for our chances of doing much next season.

Higuain had a buy out clause

Morata was useless in the Serie A.

He was not useless. He was streakier. Like a lot of young players he was inconsistent and tended to show his best in the big games, when he was motivated and focused. With age and maturity his consistency level has improved.

Any top level striker could have done what Higuain did last season. Put Dzeko in Juve's team last year instead of Higuain and his numbers would've been equal or better. If Higuain left Juve tomorrow they wouldn't need Lewandowski or Suarez to replace him.

Higuain's a good, top level striker, but he's not irreplaceable and IMO not worth €90 million in and of himself. Now, there is a legitimate argument, it was worth that to Juve to weaken Napoli and reaffirm the Old Lady's status as Italy's big dog after selling Pogba. That's a slightly different argument. However, if Juve had bought Aubamayang last season and not Higuain they would've still done the double this season.

Higuain had a buy out clause

So do a lot of players. What has that got to do with anything? Do you think the clause reflected his true value? The clauses are always inflated to protect the selling club. Juve didn't need to meet it. They had the resources to go into the market for any number of strikers.

So what's your explanation for his Napoli record which got him the move?

But Morata wouldn't go back and get 32 goals so I don't get your point. Yes any top level striker could do it which is why they are top level. Morata has yet to prove this at all!!

Cavani's Napoli record is also great, as was his PSG record last season. I don't think Cavani is irreplaceable either and I wouldn't pay €90 million for either player.

My point is the market is totally inflated. Morata is not worth what Madrid are allegedly asking for him. If United pays it, its just proof that transfer fees are disconnected from any obvious basis.

Sky Italy= Di Marzio

(IMHO)Expect the £78M asking price is just an opening negotiating tactic. Likely a deal could be agreed at £65M. We really rate him in the region of €70-80M and won't settle for less apparently though

Wonder how much Harry Kane would be available for?

If Lukaku and Mbappe are on the market for £100 million, you can bet buying Kane would cost a ridiculous fee.

Not sure how good this guy really is. As its hard to judge on such little game time.

If we actually wnat him. I say offer 50M back +10M in addons, League, CL and Ballon D'Or. Of course you hold a little wiggle room back. But just a little wiggle room

If they dont react like a team willing to do business walk away, say "thanks but not thanks, you choose not to do business..." And smile like you won the lottery. They will soon realise this means no DDG and we go get someone off a club who wont act like they got nothing to lose.

Thought you was talking about the player. Yeah that was ridiculous but as mentioned it was his buyout clause and Napoli refused to negotiate with Juventus. If we bid for instance he would have cost around £50m.
