I imagine he viewed it as a step up, regardless of the situation at the time, hence why he was so desperate to go. It isn't a dig at United in any way either, just how things are. United haven't bought from Madrid, because no-one in the first team ever wants to leave. Madrid have bought from United though, and almost always first teamers.

But Ronaldo is the only example of a player leaving us in their prime against United's wishes to go to madrid.

TI think the fact Ronaldo plays for you also boosts the figures massively, doesn't he have over 100m instagram followers alone?

If anything that just shows the younger generation perhaps follow Madrid and their star players more
