You're paying for Lukaku what we wanted for Morata. How did we feck it up? You wanted lukaku more, simple as that. Nothing's changed, if nobody's willing to pay €80M for him, we're more than happy to keep our second-highest scorer in our most successful season in 60 years.

Lukaku actually scores goals though. We don't have a Ronaldo so you keep your overpriced Italian Welbeck.

Yes because it was Perez and Real Madrid who reached out to the player, promised him a starting role, agreed terms and then wouldn't meet the asking price Real Madrid wanted and then went out and offered that exact asking price on another player.

Real Madrid aren't the cnuts here.
They are worth different to be fair. One has played as first choice striker and the other has been used more as a supporting striker.

We don't need another supporting striker though, which is why I think Lukaku is the man for the job.

Rooney leaving. Zlatan Leaving. Both 9 and 10 shirts are there for the taking
Surely Lukaku for 9 and Morata for 10.
Let's do the Shwani and Schneidi again

Madrid are going to be sick. Think they were really hoping they could fund most of Mbappe with this. The sad part is now they'll prob sell to Chelsea for 50m

...so why were you looking for 70 plus million last season for him before all of this?
Perez wanted Leeandowski. Morata was off the market soon as it became clear Lewa was off. Also, it was last season
Perez psychic abilities?
Thinking you would get 150m for James and Morata. Delusional.
Don't care. James we should sell and yeah, unlikely we'll manage to get €70/80M for him. Morata, we'd rather keep. Anybody who wants him needs to pay up

Now we've got Lukaku we should offer £40 million take it or leave it. They'll probably just leave it though.

I still think that this deal could happen - there's a lot to do after agreeing a fee (no official word yet either), so immediately declaring that we have finished with Morata seems premature and a negotiating tactic. Maybe it'll turn out that way but it looks to me that the club is making it known that we have options, which helps in their negotiations for whomever they want. Plus if we've lost Zlatan and (likely) Rooney, there is certainly room for another striker/attacker.

There is nothing wrong with getting Morata after Lukaku. However, that would be selling Martial whom will be surplus to requirements unless he plays on the left or JM plays 2 upfront. I think its time we introduce real competition for every position, and keep every single player on their toes.

Sounds great in hindsight but we are not going to agree a fee of that level to have it as an option. This deal gets done, Morata is just unlucky such is football. We've been stung by players many a time, Griezmann to be the latest.

Martial is potentially better than Morata. Not good business.

How can you blame United for this? It is entirely Perez's fault. I wanted Morata here and we offered more than a fair deal for him. The reality is that he's been sitting on your bench. How can you in all honesty expect us to pay you 90M Euros for someone who's not even second choice after Ronaldo and Benzema?
We made a mega generous offer and didn't low ball Madrid (as they tried to do to us for De Gea), therefore your club was utterly unreasonable.

Martial back to 9 and Lukaku/Morata 10. Let's give Martial a little more confidence boost going into the new season.

I find it hilarious that Madrid thought they could milk us dry because we're desperate, and then out of nowhere we get another forward and tell Madrid to get fecked. Although if Morata really did have his heart set on joining and he agreed a deal, I feel a bit sorry for him.

I think Morata and Lukaku are so different that they could easily play in the same team in the majority of matches - from what I've seen Morata would be better as a support striker/part of an attacking 3, so it makes sense to sign both of them - whether we'd want both and that we'd pay that kind of money to sign them is another matter but from a squad point of view signing both makes perfect sense to me.

Moratta skillfull? You're having a laugh, a few dribbles in the champions league doesn't make him skillful. He's nothing like skillful.
No idea why people say that Morata is a particularly skillful attacker. He has some of the most awkward step-overs, turns and rolls I have seen. He isn't a natural dribbler, he is a powerful runner with the ball, more Diego Costa, in that he can manipulate the ball, but it isn't exactly slick.

Well he should have forced his move with a transfer request. He had his chance. Would have prefered morata but only for the right price.

Rooney was a 10, And griezmann is the one like like who contributes in the build up

Think Madrid have made it clear often enough that given a choice, they'd rather not sell. If not for Morata's wish for first-team opportunities, I don't think they'd even have discussed a deal. This is a non-starter now.

We'll never know what went down with Morata, Madrid and our folks. All we can rely on is what we know directly:
1. Morata said he'd be crazy to want to leave Madrid
2. Morata said he'd like first-team opportunities
3. His agent said the United offer was "interesting" but it was up to the club

Beyond this, it's all rumour and intrigue. So unless someone writes a tell-all, we can all just make up whatever stories our minds feel happiest with...assuming we don't actually lose our sh*t and shell out another 80 Mn for Morata after spunking out for Lukaku...

Don't they want to fund their Mbappe bid? Morata has already told them he wants out too.

Don't see why they'd keep him.
Several reasons why they'd keep him. There's no way they can buy a full Spanish international and home-grown lad to be a backup striker who is already rated by some as better than their lead #9, who steps up to the plate whenever called upon, scoring big goals and who can also fill in out wide or as second striker at a pinch. In Morata they have the absolutely perfect backup player. Oh and they have no need to sell to fund a purchase - they are the second-richest club in the world, you do realize...and also have James and a bunch of promising youth players to sell (since they're excellent, but not as good as to make it into the best playing squad in the world as of today).

Madrid paid for their greed, though. Have to feel for the player himself, has to set on the bench for another year because his club was too greedy to sell him.

I think Morata has a 'bigger ceiling' than Lukaku but obviously does not have premier league experience. Whoever does get him is getting a proper player. Lets hope Chelsea do not go in for him as that would be very worrying

We really should just stop buying madrid players full stop.

I am the only one thinking we should buy both? I mean its not like we need to spend big in midfield or defence so we should add more firepower with Rooney and Zlatan gone, Rashford still in the making, Martial & Lingard not more than squad players.

What went down? Madrid refusing to accept a realistic offer, zidane phone calling him assuring of more game time and Using political clout for a assured place of morata in spanish national team:lol:.

And us refusing to fund ronaldo's taxes:lol:

Still think Jose will try to get him as well. We have ucl this season and one injury to lukaku could be trouble. We used to have 4 strikers under Fergie. We only have rashford for now as Jose considers Martial more as a winger.

I agree, but perhaps 1 of them won't be happy with a bench role. We definitely need another striker though. 2 isn't enough IMO.

Maybe Jose thinks that by adding Perisic then Martial can move into a striker role more often.

I think we should get both, Ibra and Rooney are on the way out, just forget about Perisic and play with wide forwards instead.
