This little power struggle between Madrid and United would make an excellent TV show.
Tbf to him he got the Pogba deal right, but since then he's called most deals wrong. I think it may be a case of redcafe fame getting to his head, but either way he shouldn't be abused for it.
How can people seriously want him over Lukaku considering they're the same price? Boggles the mind. I know Morata has the talent but Lukaku has already shown he can score 25+ goals in the PL at the same age! It's a no brainer.

Well we always wanted to buy Griezmann, to pair with Zlatan when he was still not injured.
That's two sources of goals we will potentially miss next season. Morata and Lukaku can play together - Morata's approach play and off the ball will mean that he should be able to play well with Lukaku if given the time to develop that chemistry.

There's a huge difference between playing a second striker like Griezmann in unison than there is playing two number 9s like Lukaku and Morata.

You don't know that, though. And even then 'higher ceiling' can mean sweet feck all in football, it's a term regularly used to describe a player who has struggled to fulfil their promise who might never actually do so.
There's a lot to be said for buying a player who has already shown he can do what we need him to do over a player who might do that and might be better. We're in no position to gamble right now.
Anyone saying Lukaku is a better pure footballer than Morata, clearly hasn't watched the latter. Lukaku is a classy Heskey in many ways, that might be a bit harsh, but still.

I think that Lukaku's movements are poor, against good teams he looks like a mug most of the time. But hopefully, he will develop that part of his game.
I hope I'm right in my gut feeling we're still in for Morata. We've lost 1.5 strikers this summer and we were already short before that. We cant finish the summer with just Lukaku and Rashford.
Morata has a better touch/eye for a pass/build up play, but that comparison is a bit of a leap.

Lukaku is brilliant at running with the ball while absorbing contact, holding the ball up against stronger center backs and bringing teammates into play, my only concern with him is his decision making ability can be very wayward and his finishing isn't sharpest. Morata doesn't dwarf him at all, infact far from it.
Feck Madrid, they agreed a 60 mil Euro deal with Milan before our interest only to hike up the price once we went in with an offer. They won't find a club who's as desperate as us for a striker.

I doubt Madrid is sad about this, they wanted to keep him from the start. Morata might not be happy to sit on the bench another season, but then again, I doubt he pushed RM for a move either
