Feel for Morata but  @ Real Madrid

DO NOT feck WITH ED!!!

Disappointing he's not coming as I think he'd be a very good signing. But I prefer Lukaku over Morata, so not the end of the world.

Shame but I have to admit im delighted with Lukaku.

feck you Madrid, they wanted rid and no way they will get anywhere near £80m now. Good luck funding Mbappe you massive cnuts.

I think we'll get him too.
If the Lukaku thing is true, Madrid are no longer in a strong negotiating position.
I dont think they are actively trying to flog him, but if they can cash in, they'll probably take it.

If Morata wants to leave and Madrid are open to selling, they might be more willing to negotiate on their asking price now that we probably wont have all our eggs in 1 basket.

But everything suggested the difference was only a few million.. weird that both clubs are playing hardball for an amount that small.... unless Lukaku was our preferred choice all along..

I still think that if the Lukaku deal goes through, we will still look at bringing Morata in - we need goals, and we have lost out on Griezmann. I think that Morata can play the "Griezmann" role well enough, with Lukaku being the big man up top. This will also mean we can afford to not be held to ransom by Real since we will have a striker in place already.

However, getting both will most probably mean a lower chance for Fabinho and I think an end to the Persic deal, since we will just rely on our current options to fill the left flank spot.

Imo we signed a lesser player with a lot less potential and Madrid keep a star of the future. Far from pleased
I tend to agree and would have preferred Morata. However, it seemed to be difficult to deal with RM and I am not sad that we told them to piss off. Shame for Morata though, but maybe he never really wanted to push his boyhood club so he'll be fine staying there

Bit disappointed not to see Morata here.. Would have preferred him over Lukaku but Lukaku isn't really a downgrade on him, maybe closer to being a like for like replacement to Zlatan than Morata.

I think Real were unnecessarily playing hardball over Morata and in a way i'm glad we told them to shove it and even went for a more expensive option

I'm very disappointed with this. Really so.

Proof that no one knows what's going on, the reports last night was significant progress had been made on this deal and all the while we were actually completing Lukaku

I did like the idea of Morata given the Spanish contingent already at the club but I'm sure Pogba will enjoy linking up with Lukaku

I wouldn't be that surprised if we were still after him with a view to go 3-4-3 or 3-5-2. We still have a lot of CBs..

Madrid got what they deserved.

They over played their hand, I couldn't be happier to do that to Real.

Now let them try and get De Gea on the cheap,we should quote them £70m plus Morata.

I really wanted Morata at United, so it's a bit disappointing.

Not against signing Lukaku, though.

Not impossible we could sign both, especially with both Rooney and Ibra mostly or entirely off the wage bill.

Madrid got what they deserved.

That's true, but it's not over just yet. Now we finally have them in our hand and that could help the negotiation.
I did warn you, mate.

You did mate, but it's not over. Well played from Woodward. The guy is a genius. Now Real Madrid has nothing to say anymore and Chelsea got fecked as well. Great signing.

I'd still have liked both, maybe i'm greedy :) I do feel sorry for Morata, first team football somewhere here is just what he'd need for the world cup.

But, almost worth it to knob over Madrid :D

My head's still spinning from the sudden swerve I had to make.. I knew i wanted Lukaku all the time over Morata.. :nervous::drool:

This could still happen. Won't rule it out atleast until mid August. Our official stance of no more interest in him might just be a way to get the price down.

I wouldn't be that surprised if we were still after him with a view to go 3-4-3 or 3-5-2. We still have a lot of CBs..

This. I think a club of our size needs to have more quality options - Lukaku and Morata coming in will just be a like for like change for Ibra and Rooney leaving. More players also gives us more chances to be flexible with formations and how we approach games. People also underestimate Morata's flexibility in his roles on the pitch. Can see us playing a 4231 in most games, with Morata playing off Lukaku and vice-versa. Having 2 big men with pace and finishing to deal with means that most teams will not have much time to think about pushing up too much. The Griezmann money was always going to be used on someone too.

How did it backfire? They didn't want to sell Morata, now they keep Morata?

He doesn't play regular and is a bench warmer for Costa in the national team. Madrid messed this kid up. Oh well we got the beast :D

It's a shame as I would have preferred Morata to be honest.

That said, it's always a positive when you can tell Real Madrid to get fecked. They'll have to fund their Mbappe fund some other way, not got Utd to try and rip off now

It's a shame, I really think Morata would do well here, and I'd worry if he signed for Chelsea or wherever, but yeah... Madrid were feckin' us around it seems, so if he's to blame anyone, it should probably be his club.

Just occurred to me that Chelsea will sign him now, he still wants first team football before the world cup and Madrid are willing to sell for the right price. What else are they going to do? Grovel to Costa? He will be a stud - scoring against us rather than for us :(

People think we won't sign him now?
Well yes. This isn't football manager. Teams don't spend over £150m on two strikers when they play a one man system.

Shame. Now Chelsea will get Morata, who I believe would have been a better fit for us. We'll face the exact same problem we had with Zlatan unless we significantly improve the attacking players around Lukaku.
