i don't really consider them out-and-out no.9's, more attacking wingers or CAM's that were given pseudo no.9 roles to cover for only having zlatan.
Well what you choose to add or omit from what is or is not a number 9 is not worth posting. They are both number 9s and you can deny it all you like. But there is no getting away from that fact.

The fact that ibra was picked in the 9 role ahead of them only proves they were constantly played out of position. Nothing more!

Dunno Mr Jazz, I'm neither from the future nor an ITK. :(
It's Ms Jazz:D

Will have to rely on Mr Carvajal to give us the gossip then:lol:

It's not?

No, let's not go to the basics. If they didn't agree on the fee the deal is not done. Legally speaking it's done when all parties have an agreement on every detail of the transfer and conclude that deal in written form. The fee is one of the most important parts of that agreement and still not the only one.

From, what you say they don't have it in written form and still negotiating the price.

That's right. But I live in the middle of business deals as a living. When two parties agree to make a deal, it will be done if the two parties are serious. I would say that Manchester United and Real Madrid are serious. That said, you are 100% right.

would you guys rather spend 100 mil on Mbape to spite Madrid?

I would not. His a huge talent, but still very raw. We need some experience. Rashford and Martial are great talents, but young as well. No need to complicate things with one more.

Seems like this will be done before we take off for our pre-season tour on Sunday. Plenty of reliable Spanish journos are reporting the same thing.

As for the Lukaku rumours - think Everton are just using us to pressurise Chelsea into meeting their asking price as soon as possible.

With all the Lukaku talk, Let's hope to get Morata done first and any business done in the forward position thereafter is a bonus.

There are some sad souls that will never be satisfied or happy. In their part of the world the glass is always half empty. Where I come from we leave them outside the fun, just do the same. Your posts makes me happy and that's an considerable achievement from my perspective as an cynical old man.

Anyway. I believe the same as you. Morata is a done deal in principal, only details to sorts out between the clubs. Doesnt mean is legally done but both parties have the same intentions and see the benefits of striking a deal.

The interesting part is Lukaku. Maybe we walk out of the Perisic deal and focused on two forwards. Another solution could be selling one defender. DDG? Many variables that makes this happen. From a financial view point it makes sense. We are heave with numbers in defense and short up front. Exciting days to come...

Under 70 mill sounds fair. Throw in a bumbag and Figaro chain and get him signed.

I do believe Morata has something special after watching his CL Juve exploits. 6ft2 and 24 years he could be about to go up a level. Still quite a risk if after a year he can't settle here. We'd be selling him for much less.

If Lukaku is worth £100m then Mbappe would be a relative bargain at the same price. He will likely go for £120m+.

Stephen Howson from FTD says he's been told by a first team player that Morata is just about done and will be completed by the weekend. Tbf this guy doesn't bullshit about transfers.
TBF to him they do seem to have contacts with some of the United players by virtue of interviews with them. How that stretches to transfer news too, I'm not sure. Most likely he's referring to Herrera based on memory.

Howson has a lot of Academy contacts but i don't know bout his first team contacts. He did say first team so I can only hypothesise that it was probably herrera. If he is telling the truth of course ;)

A bit of both. He's quite fast (not as fast as Martial, of course), and can even operate in slightly wider areas to bring the wide attackers or central midfielders towards the goal:

But he can also act as a more direct target in the box with his 189 cm frame - like traditional center forwards:

Decent from outside the box, too:

If everything goes well, you'll have a slightly faster, but less in-your-face physical version of Diego Costa with a bit of Aritz Aduriz thrown in. So you can see why he would appeal to Mourinho - whose teams often rely on quick, simplistic vertical counters as the standard attacking template.

I don't think Morata is any slower than Martial off the race or at top speed. Martial is quick in change of pace/ change direction & quicker/ better footwork at top speed, better dribbling at speed.

Agree that Morata has that power play with his back against the opposition's goal that is suited to play as central forward while Martial skill set should be mainly utilized as wing forward.

I think both can play together just fine in certain set up against a certain type of opponents. Ideally against someone like Burnley that need a blend of technical & power & a bit wide forward play (Play with ball at the feet. Not winger type of width & pumping cross into target man).

A Spanish first team player by all accounts
His does mention that Spanish players are teammates of Morata in the national team, and that's how they know. But his source is not necessarily a spanish first team player. Maybe word got around the first team.

He's on Caf. Let's ask him!
@StephenH
i might be extremely wrong here, but wasn't it howson that first said on a FTD video that LVG was looking to get both Schneidelin and Schweinsteiger as a pair? When the rumours at the time were either schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger, but not both?

It might not have been him but for some reason he's the first one coming to my mind.
