Madrid are doing exactly what you would want your club to do. You have to be foolish if you think club's are in the business of doing favours.

Also if a club is giving a player away there is usually a damn good reason for it.

We should hear something in the next 2 days about this deal.

Hmm in fact I say this to myself and everyday and the next day comes with nothing new.

Dont really care about the price now, this has dragged on for so long, its obvious Madrid wont lower their valuation. Its either pay up or get fecked. Better than paying up 20-30€ more, than end with a shite striker or a striker which dosen't fit the gaffers system

The money we spend on players is disturbing....Martial, Pogba, and now Morata.

Yet they got a deal on Ronnie....they want to sell Morata 10m more than what they paid for Ronaldo....I said back then it was a steal and should of been sold for 100m.

He was the most expensive player at this time ?

Different times, the price at that time was unprecedented. However, any price would be worth it for Ronaldo though so I agree it was a steal in someways.

It was a steal, but I would hope we would be selling him for a lot more now. I think some of it was pandering to Ronaldo's desire to go to Real. We were too soft, seeing he has used us a few times since to get his own way.

It's almost like things change in 9 years.

True but at the time I just new we were being too conservative with the price considering what they were getting...now in hindsight, probably should of been sold for 150m...but that was never gonna happen....they would of paid 100 easily tho.

How was 25-30m above the world record a steal at the time!?

This window, we've had Southampton asking £60-70m for a centre back! So you can't compare it to the Ronaldo fee 8 years ago!

It's no more sensible than saying, wow, Shearer was £15m in 96, and now Harry Maguire has gone for £17m!

Cantona was £1m, is Morata 80 times better then Cantona?! Is he?! fecking Woody!

None of those available this summer, we'll get one in Griez next summer though.

And before you mention Dybala\Sanchez\Bale\Dembele etc:

Dybala - has expressed his desire to play in Spain and preferably Barcelona, in addition to talking shite about us and the PL during the Pogba saga
Sanchez - There is simply no way in hell Wenger will sell to us, even if Sanchez down tools
Bale - Won't be sold, injury prone and would cost ridiculous amounts of money
Dembele - wants to play in Spain, won't come and Dortmund won't sell this season

Griezmann at his release clause next summer is the only viable option.

What about Aubameyang, he would cause different problems compared to Morata if they played together

Icardi is an elite finisher who could be rotated with Morata depending on form

Besides this I also feel bale and dembele are gettable. Dembele would be impossible to sign next season because he's only going to get better. Now is the time to get him. There are no quotes from him that he prefers Spain, are there any?

Bale might have a bad injury record recently but he still guarantees goals and assists. Give that madird want Mbappe and mbappe wants a guaranteed starting spot I don't think its improbable at all. Price isn't an issue since we are already paying crazy money for every player anyway.

If that kind of player isn't available then what's the point in saying it? Do we sign no one then, because there isn't a world class striker available?
Im acknowledging a problem where there is one. I dont see whats wrong with that. I didn't mean an out and out striker, I meant world class players that can finish or create goals (preferably both). I think such players are available. We have the money, why can't we be more ruthless like Madrid are when they want a player and get someone like Dembele to United?

It's a nightmare. We're past the point where price matters anymore, so just pay the extra 10M and get the job done.

What if we went for a different type of player, even younger, like Timo Werner? How much would he cost?

I generally agree. There's two things I'm not really sure of though a) is he Morientes' level or Drogba's level and b) are Martial, Mkhitaryan and Mata able to offer the necessary supplementary goal threat? From what I've seen he's closer to Morientes than Drogba, in which case I don't think he's really good enough to be sole/main striker for a CL winner. I do hold out hopes that the other players can flourish in his presence though, and I'm not sure there's many other players on the market that really offer that.

You can understand why Madrid are charging what they are but I think we'd probably be better off if Mourinho had a more flexible view on the kind of striker he needs. Someone like Dybala is probably worth the same amount but he's a significantly better player. It'd mean an entirely different attacking setup but I don't see why we should be so accepting of Mourinho's rigidity on this.

This is the nature of the beast at United, we still use the old method where the manager's will is everything, a lot of clubs are now shifting to a structure where the manager is more of a coach and has to use what he has at his disposal, but we are not there yet, so we are catering to Mourinho's oldschool mentality towards attack.

Because he's not available and even if he was, he doesn't want to come here.

I agree, we have reached the point of no return and they are bleeding us like a stuck pig for the De Gea situation, but we might as well pony up and get it done, he's the best option we can get and is at an age where he has his best years ahead.

Zorc said that they wont sell yesterday but you expect him to say that, there hasnt been a direct quote from the player saying i dont want to go to man united or i only want to play in spain. All this is besides the point, im using a players name as an example of the kind of player we need. You on the other hand are challenging my very right to say that we need more attacking players. its bizarre.

I swear to God, this thread has added about 30 pages of crying today about "just pay the €90m" all because of some shitty report in feckin' goal.com  Literally no good source is carrying this from Spain or England, just a couple of papers lazily quoting the goal.com report.

Last thing we legit actually heard was Morata's agent and father trying to force through the move, then reports it was going to be announced Thursday for about £60m. Absolutely nothing else currently suggests the transfer has hit another delay or that Madrid were still demanding €90m. Have a little patience, things will be clear soon enough.

Calm down boys. Step by step.

Selling Rooney wil dominate the headlines for a couple of day. When we said goodbye to Rooney it's time to announce Morata. Apart from that let the young man enjoy his honeymoon a couple of more days. He will have plenty of time to adapt and get in shape until our seasons starts.

Where did you hear anything Legit?
Ever ?

Why is Mourinho not in for Aub for 60m. He must really be sold on Morata.
Dortmund came out and announced that he's available for a relatively modest €60m, a few months after saying it'd take an outrageous for them to consider selling.

There's probably a reason for this, and there's probably a reason for why there's seems to be a complete lack of interest in him (aside from PSG, who ended up pulling out of the deal).

Most importantly, he doesn't fit the profile of a typical Mourinho striker.

 You guys seem to be pretty shit at haggling.

BRIAN: How much? Quick.

HARRY THE HAGGLER: What?

BRIAN: It's for the wife.

HARRY THE HAGGLER: Oh. Uhhh, twenty shekels.

BRIAN: Right.

HARRY THE HAGGLER: What?

BRIAN: There you are.

HARRY THE HAGGLER: Wait a minute.

BRIAN: What?

HARRY THE HAGGLER: Well, we're-- we're supposed to haggle.

BRIAN: No, no. I've got to get--

HARRY THE HAGGLER: What do you mean, 'no, no, no'?

BRIAN: I haven't time. I've got--

HARRY THE HAGGLER: Well, give it back, then.

BRIAN: No, no, no. I just paid you.

HARRY THE HAGGLER: Burt!

BURT: Yeah?

HARRY THE HAGGLER: This bloke won't haggle ...."
