Álvaro Morata | Chelsea player

That is the exactly goal that came up in my mind when I watched Morata's one vs Bayern. Compare to Morata's one, Lukaku's solo goal vs Chelsea is a poor ball control and only pure strength. So messy. While the Morata's one is due to his dribbling skills, good ball control and strength.

I am surprised that you are trying to against my post by showing that goal. I just don't understand how can you think that Lukaku's solo goal vs Chelsea is showing that he is able to dribble the ball with good ball control.

I am not actually saying that Lukaku can dribble better than Morata. They both beat a bunch of defenders but only one of them actually put the ball in the back of the net. He just beat four defenders and a goal keeper in much tighter space and showed his strength there hence I am not sure why that would be messy. It may look awkward because he's just that big and it's not normal for big players to be able to do that.

Morata's dribble had much lesser angle to deal with. He knocked the ball past defenders twice and then made sure he didn't give defenders a chance. While it's good, it's not something that sets him apart.

At end of the day, both those dribbles are due to some very poor defending. If I try to think about good dribbling strikers, I'd be thinking of Aguero, Suarez, Mbappe. Lukaku and Morata wouldn't really make the list there.

What's happened with this deal? Hasn't been announced yet?

Someone should write a book about how transfer dealings work in football. Not sure why the feck it takes so long.

It could already be done, just not announced.

I heard that's what happened with the Pogba deal last year. Deal done, Stormzy video made - just not dropped til two weeks later when Pogba got back from the states.

Hmmmm. Negotiating a fee and how it will be paid between the two clubs. Negotiating a contract with the player. Selling club taking their time to make sure they have a replacement. Other transfers to work on. Vacations. Agent having other clients they support and need to give time to. Other clubs also bidding. etc etc etc

So not at all like walking into a store and picking up a can of beans.

When will he finish this honeymoon ? This has gone really dead now.

I hope we just reached an agreement with Madrid when he returns so that everything will be done quickly.

Is there a reason why no other big teams seem to be chasing Morata?

If the prices mentioned are accurate, they likely can't afford him.
Or they're not willing to pay that much for him. PSG, Chelsea, Juventus, City, ... could easily cough up around 70-80m for a striker.

 No one wants honey moon to end. I guess you are single.

couple of weeks ago he was an overpriced Madrid reserve who was an underwhelming 2nd choice to Griezmann. Now with his signing seemingly to be announced soon, he is now percevied as a huge star signing who we will hang our hat on for the forseeable future. A genuine world class talent approaching his prime. "Football, bloody hell"
Personally I will be very happy when he signs.

I'm sure there are a great many teams who'd love a player of Morata's ability in their squad, but only a handful of those clubs have the means to enter a bidding war with United. A very small handful at that.

Chelsea and Milan are/were reportedly interested. None of PSG, Bayern or City are looking for a #9. Nobody else really has the means to acquire him.

Exactly. Nobody from the top clubs which include Barcelona, Juventus, PSG, Bayern, all top English clubs bar Chelsea (yes, Liverpool is not a top club) isn't in the market for the striker. Milan was surely interested but they went out of the race because of the price and Morata doesn't want to play there after Juventus. All other clubs can't afford him.
It's not so difficult to grasp.

That said, Chelsea is the only real threat, they didn't agree a deal with Lukaku so far and his fee is even bigger.

Went the other day through Juventus forum. People mainly agree that the price is through the roof, but there are many who also think that they would be better with him then with Higuain. It does say a thing or two about how underwhelming he has been for them as some suggest here.

Next week, the future of Morata will be definitively decided, or at least that is the intention of the player who wants to return from his holidays with everything completed.

Quick. I hope they're true.

I doubt we'd want both but would Lacazette be a better buy for us at that price (only a year of his contract left) than Morata at £70m+?
Yes because you are paying for potential with Morata of what he CAN do while Lacazette is producing right now.

The French league is much weaker, and there's more competition for playing time at Real Madrid.

Last season, Lacazette got 37 goals in roughly 3,300 minutes for Lyon with Morata getting 20 in roughly 1,500 minutes for Real Madrid. Morata's also getting into the Spanish side regularly, and scoring. I know who I'd prefer.

He's been on his honeymoon, I would imagine any deal could only be completed on his return.

I'm calm on this one.

Never underestimate the muppets muppetness  I look forward to the muppet meltdown every year.

The deal is where it was 10 days ago. I'm sure the contract and the wages etc; are already agreed and it's just the fee to be ironed out (we want 70m euros they want 80m) but is almost there and he's been getting married and honeymooning. No rush to announce it today when he probably wouldn't fly in and have his medical for at least another week anyway.

But, there is less scoring in Ligue 1. And I personally value seeing a striker be the "man" who the opposing team is trying to stop versus someone who is usually coming on against tired defenses.
