Well Mbappe does not play as a lone striker. His partner is usually Falcao on Monaco, so I won't be surprised if they switch to an attack of Mbappe-Morata-Bale if Ronaldo leaves. They can't rely on a 30 year old Benzema forever.

I hope they go for Alli, cause I think he will not do well there. This current batch of English talent are overrated in my opinion. Rooney in his prime, Lampard, Slippy G,Scholesy etc are all better footballers than them.

No but even Ronaldo doesn't play as a lone striker. Any wide forward would score more playing alongside Benzema than Morata or any other striker

Hmm yes but Mbappe's playing style is not like Ronaldo's though. Morata also plays with wide forwards when he plays for Real,and it turns out fine. Benzema just has those years of playing with Ronaldo and knows what to do naturally.

Either way Benzema is not getting benched for Morata, so it changes nothing.
 
If Ronaldo leaves, Real must spend on Mbappe and Hazard. They're someone Zidane and Perez like. Morata is far from favorite of them.

The only barrier is United not gonna pay what Real want, £75m atm. It's totally not depend on Ron stays on not.
 
Think this one is on hold now until the Ronaldo situation is resolved one way or the other. They won't need or want to sell both.

Would agree with this which makes me wonder if we'll wait until the Ronaldo situation is sorted?

He's on international duty and depending on how long Portugal are in the tournament this could drag for sometime and inevitably clash with Jose's in before the pre season tour edict.

I can see us moving on to another target like Belotti or hopefully Abumayang.

I agree. I feel like I'm in the minority here but I don't feel like the Ronaldo situation affects our Morata pursuit much.

wouldn't be a United summer without a drawn out saga would it? personally I don't feel Morata holds the keys to our season. We just need attackers who can finish consistently. We also need to let ourselves off the leesh a bit more because the 2nd half of the premier league season, we were dire. Stopped attacking cohesively and draws stopped becoming surprises

Yeah, I could easily be wrong but Belotti seems the most like a 1-season wonder. I've not watched him much so am probably talking absolute shite, but I've not seen anything to impress me. I'd rather have Lacazette, Morata or Lukaku
 
They won't be selling Ronaldo to be honest, no club will pay 400 million for him, safe to say Morata will still be sold.

I am totally confident that Morata is signing, I don't see why so many people are coming up with back-up plans, not sure what Morata's honeymoon plans are but I suspect he will be in Manchester as soon as they are over, my concern is that we don't seem to have a DM lined up.

I have yet to be convinced that there is any evidence that we are interested in Dier, when we normally do business with Daniel Levy he takes great delight in going public and slapping a huge price tag on the player, but all I have read is a speculative report saying his fee would be £50m, unless Levy says something, I won't believe it.
 
Depending on Real will pull us into oblivion. We should move on to other targets right away and get one of lacazatte or Lukaku

This thread has nosedived since the Ronaldo stuff broke.

I kind of hope we ignore the Ronaldo soap opera and just get Morata done. But I just know United are going to drop this deal to chase the impossible

I don't think we'll be seriously 'in' for Ronaldo, but if he moved to PSG, you'd imagine that would put the kibosh on our Morata deal - they won't allow both to leave, surely.
 
If Ronaldo leaves then this deal is dead. Morata would surely then fancy his chances of breaking into the Real team. This is going to be a heck of a long transfer window!

Dunno, it's not like Zidane will suddenly rate him higher than he currently does, & assuming Ronaldo does go somewhere then they'll have £100 million + to burn, don't think it'll change anything with him, it'll just delay it, who knows it could work in our favour & we can find someone better.

Real's position on Morata won't change. But Morata himself could think he might have more chances now, because Benzema has no reason to be a starter as Ronaldo is no more.

They may change the system or may not, Mbappe can be just the direct replacement of Ronaldo with Benzema helping him in the same way, they may change the system and with huge fee coming from Ronaldo selling, can push for Auba or Dybala with Mbappe. Either way, Morata won't be the main man in their team and if he thinks otherwise, he'll be stupid, especially with World Cup coming next summer and he wants to break into their starting line-up.

Anyway, all this doesn't matter because Ronaldo problem will be solved after Confederation Cup and everything will be normal again.

After the success of the Fellaini/Baines double deal strategy, maybe Woody will try again for Ronaldo/Morata. Give them £5m over the asking price for Morata and I'm sure they will throw in Ronaldo!

I will be pretty disappointed if we don't close this one off just because of some remote possibility to sign Ronaldo but I'm sure everything is just paper nonsense. If we did so, we would be allowing a window of opportunity for someone else to come in and sign Morata while we're chasing the impossible.

Mourinho and Ronaldo don't work together. It's like trying to mix oil with water, just doesn't happen.
