I think the Ronaldo thing is basically bullshit and public relations crap. But if there is a genuine chance of him leaving Real, I don't think they would sell Morata. Zidane's personal allegiances aside, the whole reason to prefer a declining Benzema over a much younger Morata is the Benz-CR7 connection. Also, selling Ronaldo will be hugely controversial with supporters so also selling a popular Spanish forward makes no sense.

Might as well close this thread until Ronaldo gets his pay rise.

Morata going on Honeymoon

Ronnie threatening divorce

We should look for other targets already, there's other fish in the ocean. Otherwise, we will be the ones paying the alimony.

So sick that the one player we want badly is stuck at that circus. I wish he was from a different club , anything else.

Just what we needed, a major stumbling block in what was already becoming a really drawn out saga!

Ronaldo available and wants to come to us....we then surely drop interest in Morata
Ronaldo available and not wanting to come to us ...they can't sell Morata until they ensure they bring a top level player in, which will be a drawn out deal with someone else...

Time spent for Ronaldo to reverse his,.erm irreversible decision, just delays Morata

Just thinking about things, does Morata not have some release clause as per Spanish league rules?

Or is that set ridiculously high like usual, making the 90m fee look sensible?

I think he meant Icardi but misspelled it?

I thought he might be meaning Bellotti, which has been our massive other link, but it'd take some mix-up to write Beradi when meaning Icardi!
Not to mention the pure lotto that Beradi is a striker of some sort of note.

Not for long if you'd go about your business like that tbh.

He has no resale value and it would only be profitable if he won you a few leagues/CL's, which I doubt he can do on his own.
We wouldn't win CL even with him if we're not incredibly lucky but he's good for at least one league title (probably more). And the importance of that title can't be overestimated, since it will be the real foundation for a new post-Fergie era, ensuring the club's future for the sponsors and relieving the immense pressure from the club, players etc.

Yeah, because Cavani is such a random suggestion plucked out of my arse. He has everything Mourinho looks for in a CF.
Sorry, I didn't properly read what he quoted and assumed he was responding to one of the usual Auba/Mbappé/Kane people. Cavani is a realistic option, but it seems our focus is finding a somewhat young striker. Besides, there hasn't really been much linking him with a move away, aside from assumptions that he'll become available if PSG buys Aubameyang or Sanchez.

By the way, didn't he recently state that he wants a move back to Napoli while he's still at the top of his game?

If Football Manager is anything to go by then its set at 111m pounds, cant find the pound symbol on this keyboard.

I'm italian, i understand the lyrics

Should have never pressed play :mad:

There was some rumour linking him with a Napoli return. I wouldn't be surprised as he is a genuinely nice guy who clearly lo ed uis time there.

He wouldn't turn us/Mou down for them though, not in a million years.

Former Real Madrid president: Manchester United and Morata will be very happy with deal

FORMER Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon believes Alvaro Morata's impending move to Manchester United is good for all parties.

There is still thought to just be the fee between both clubs left to be agreed and former Madrid president Calderon believes it is the right move for the striker - with his comments suggesting a deal has already been agreed.

The 66-year-old told The Sun: “Alvaro Morata is not happy at Real Madrid.

“He hasn’t played and it’s the kind of deal and agreement which is great for all sides. The player, Manchester United and Real Madrid.

“All parties will be very happy with the deal.”

:boring: Latest update. Not sure how credible it is. I guess the deal should be wrapped up during and officially announced once Morata's done with his honeymoon.

I still can't see this happening. I'm pretty sure Mbappe is the succession plan to Ronaldo, and Morata is the succession plan to Benzema. Maybe they have someone else in mind though.

Can we just take him on loan:D At least we'll know for sure if he's worth this extortionate price.

Harry Kane.

Not even kidding. No English team will buy him as Spurs won't sell to another English side, and he'll leave eventually.

I don't at all buy that the Ronaldo situation will delay the Morata deal. The player wants to leave, and keeping him wouldn't replace the 45+ goals they'd lose if Ronaldo goes. If anything, I could see Madrid trying to wrap it up more quickly so they can get on with sorting out the Ronaldo situation and preparing bids for replacements (Mbappe, Aubameyang).

Losing Morata and CR7 will leave them quite short upfront. Mbappe alone will not suffice and they would rather have a settled goal scorer than sign two new striker hoping that they deliver immediately.

Yep if ever Ronaldo leaves I think morata move would fall for a season at least.

Having said that from ronaldos money they would love to sign hazard and weaken chelsea.

If Ronaldo leaves which I highly doubt , we should be in for him and for once I think we could re think our position on de gea too.

That's true, but if Ronaldo does leave (and I'm still fairly certain he won't) they'll have silly amounts of cash to spend. And I think you're overestimating how sensible Real are, I feel like they'd much prefer to buy a couple of shiny new toys to distract their fans and the press from the Ronaldo sale. So much of their business is still driven by politics.

Forgive me, I'm struggling to take all this very seriously, its all just way too much fun

I think Zidane prefers to keep him, and if he does go he needs a replacement. They still only really have Benzema and Morata for that number 9 right?

If ronaldo leaves they will buy Aubameyang or Hazard or Mbappe. I don't see Morata's situation changing

Not so simple I'm afraid. Ronaldo's situation can be used to jack up Morata's price. Once we've paid that exorbitant price, Ronaldo's situation will magically resolve in a week. If anything, we are underestimating how shrewd Real can be with their marketing stunts.

In the end, we might be the only ones not finding it funny. And that's before accepting the risk of signing Morata, who's never led the attack by himself for a full season.
