His agent said Madrid refused Milan's offer because they were unsatisfied with it. Didn't say what the offer was, though.

But I agree with the point that they're trying to milk us for multiple reasons. I think same will be applied to any striker we want to sign. Even fecking Inter are doing the same to us with Perisic.
They refused Milan's offer this year because he already had agreement with us.

If we were not in for him 60-70 m would do it.

Dunno if it's already been posted but sky sports italy(meaning Di Marzio) reported Morata is set to sign a 4 year €48M contract. That should be around £200k a week more or less

Fee might end up in the region of €75M

fecking hell.

Seriously, I would be more disappointed at United caving in to Real Madrid than losing out on Morata. If they're hoping to shaft us to fund their Mbappe bid then I would just walk away.

Not the worst about £10m more than the rumoured Milan bid that was rejected.

If spanish media are to be believed, that's what he's already on at madrid. Different tax rate means he'd be getting more money at united

Jesus, it's a bit of a question where do you go from there really. But then again Pogba makes the same or even more so yeah.

Why is that a problem?

It obviously isn't. People are just being silly with that one.

He's not starting over Benzema, who is a half decent player for one thing, and tailor made for playing a side kick role to Ronaldo (which he has done now for years) for another – and that makes him second rate. Bollocks of the first water, needless to say.

I'm not saying he's sure to be a success for us, far from it. But the arguments some people use against him are plain ridiculous. When they can't use stats (the usual approach) to fault him, they resort to even more spurious ways.

Just watch the fecker and make up your mind based on that – that would be my suggestion.

That would be talking about United finances and how we no longer have to sell to our rivals, ever since Berbatov.

Did i read Moratas representatives had a long meeting in Madrid today, to express his desire to leave?

They not getting as much as they hoped. He's just did the, you wont play me so let me leave, demand. No happy campers round there.

We should buy Aubamayang or Lacazette and save the club £10-20m, they'll score 30 goals a season and we'll win the league, football players are like interchangeable lego pieces in video games so it should work in real life

The club would double their profits if they listened to the caf

Why in hell would he get that wage, he's really not a world class or top class striker. This club is a mess. We need a director of football more than we actually do a striker or a DM or a winger. Stupid, stupid decisions being made year after year. From potentially Griezmann, James, Fabinho to Morata, Perisic, Dier for the same price, Jesus wept.

People are now complaining about his wage ? We're already giving Lingard 100k a week, sure Morata will receive higher !

Not saying he deserves that wage but @giorno said he was already on that much at Real. Makes sense he's not taking a paycut

Jesus, thats compareable with Lingards absurd weekly wages. It"s like they play career mode with unlimited funds and grant everyone ridiculous salaries.
Real and Barca's wage budgets do hurt them, keeping the big stars happy with new contracts every year isn't easy; their wage budgets are huge. That's the reason they have to raise money for transfers by selling sometimes despite having massive income. Still, not the worst position to be in I guess because it seems to pay off

Yeah, moving for over 70mil but we should pay him £7.50 an hour. Unbelievable how ignorant some people are of what market we are in. We've got Everton splashing 60mil on 2 players and wanting £100mil for a decent striker, City paying a record fee for a 23 year old goal keeper, and you want to pay our main striker, who is highly rated by Madrid, Juventus and Milan, considerably less than Rooney?

Getting way ahead of myself here, but any players who've won the league in Italy, Spain & England? Would be great if Morata follows Jose's feat...

You dont need to tell me the market bas crashed, however paying near a world record fee for a guy that hasnt even been a starter for the past 3 years is just absurd, whichever way you look at it. He's a good player, but not exaxtly proven as the striker you can rely on, he isnt world class and I severely doubt he'll ever will be. Just because we are rich doesnt mean we need to overpay for every average joe, Bayern are rich too but they dont cross the lines. We just look so desperate, good scouting and nurturing are so absent the past few years, it's really poor and I dont see it being helped anytime soon with Woodward as the director.

I'm gonna give this a crack and see if I can find a player that has.
Googled it and found a thread on here asking the same question

Was an old thread, but the consensus was that no one has done it, and i don't think it's been achieved since. Ibra might've :(

Getting bored of this now either get it done or just abort and give Rashford the number 9 jersey next season

Yeah, for a club who just won back to back champions league, why is that always conveniently left out? And even than there are plenty of RM fans who want to see him in place of Benzema and are gutted he'll be leaving.

He was at the club for three seasons with our manager, who currently has a superb track record with signing players for us. He is wanted by Madrid, Milan, Juventus and United amongst others and Madrid are only willing to let him go for an huge fee, yet you've decided he's just average? Nonsense.

Bayern don't need to spend huge money on players because their team is superb, they can afford to wait for players to run down their contracts and sign them on the cheap whilst facing almost no competition from their own league. Mourinho needs players NOW, not in 18 months time.

You can make the shrewd purchases and take gambles on youngsters when your core team are winning you the league year in year out. We don't have that privilege so we are using our financial clout to get back on the perch as soon as possible.

Context just seems to go our of the window when muppet season arrives.

Yeah, it hasn't been done and I used my infinite brain power and the closest I got was Thiago Mendes but he left Juve just before they started winning again.

Yup I go back and forth on this shit and don't have a concrete answer. The more I see fees rising the more I question it. If Morata comes and scores goals galore I'm not gona give a feck about his price.

If Real spend £120m on him, he's playing.
Maybe but do you think Real Madrid are going to give concrete assurances to an 18yr old that he is a first choice guaranteed starter? They have Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema, all of whom are firm favourites of the president and manager.

I don't see it happening, tbh and I think Mbappe will want something in writing in his contract that he must start a high percentage of games.

 jesus christ some of you lot

People saying our club is a mess because of the rumoured wages we're apparently going to pay a player we havent even bought yet

I reckon we stop wasting time on R madrid player. There are plenty decent player out there for a decent price.Don't get too obsess with R.madrid player Mourinho.
Lacazette is a decent player and willing to served us and Aubamayang too .We can get them for 50-60 mill pound rather than going for a 78mill pound reserved player?pls wake up Mourinho

I don't get this opinion. You'd rather miss out on a player we desperately need (and probably end up paying roughly the same amount for someone else, or risk missing out entirely) than bite the bullet and be prepared for next season?

Yeah, it hasn't been done and I used my infinite brain power and the closest I got was Thiago Mendes but he left Juve just before they started winning again.

Cambiasso was close too. Won league titles with Real Madrid and Inter, then rejected a contract renewal with Leicester the summer before they won it.

Reality: "Morata and Jose want to work together, clubs trying to hash out a price"

Cesspool thread: "Yeah but i don't want to feel embarrassed by other fans, so lets bid for X instead. Doesn't matter if they don't want to come. I just don't want to feel embarrassed."

The cringe in the last 10 pages of this thread are RAWK level

It's incredibly cringeworthy. The Caf at its worst.

Wasnt Lacazette only interested in Atletico until their ban was sustained. There is no assurance that he would not want to move to ATletico in 1 or 2 seasons. Also Auba is said to have already bought a new house in Paris, which could hint he is set on joining PSG.

For me, viable alternatives would be veterans like Cavani (if Auba is truly going to PSG) or Mandzukic. Either should be much cheaper and serviceable for 1 or 2 seasons. Extra money can be used to improve other positions.
