Marca articles are so biased they always make me laugh.
Conte is an excellent manager but similarly to other top managers he follow a set of values that make them a bit predictable in the transfer market. That’s not meant as criticism. For example back when SAF was still at United you wont expect us to buy a 32 year old striker for 50m.
Now what are Conte’s values? As a Juventus product he would always opt for great work ethic and the player’s ability to work in a team above talent and flair. He also have a soft spot for big Spanish strikers. He was the one who signed Llorente and he gave the go ahead for Morata’s signing.
Having said that, there’s one thing were Conte differ from SAF in a radical way. SAF will always protect the club no matter how skint they may be. We lost count how many time SAF came out saying that he's happy with his squad when we all know its not the case. Conte on on the other hand is a frigging overemotional cry baby, whose prone to throw his dummy when things don’t go his way. He did that with Juventus when they refused to buy him Cuadrado for silly money and he did the same with Italy whom he labelled the job as a part time job. In matter of fact his ‘you can’t go and eat to a restaurant of 100 euros with 10 euros’ speech is the Serie A equivalent to Hansen's ‘you cannot win trophies with kids’
So here is what I think. We will probably sign Morata. However we better hurry in doing so. Conte is very choosy, he just love working with his former men because of it and to facilitate things up he keeps regular contact with them (including Morata). If Conte wants a player then its within his club’s interest to sign him up. Else they risk Conte losing it and that’s not pretty.
Problem is this: Conte never worked with Morata before.

Haven't checked but did he sign any of the players he previously worked with? I remember he wanted Morata at Juventus and also wanted him at Chelsea (last season) but I can't think of any example to say he likes to work with his previous/known players.
