Rather spend £70m on Lewandowski if this reported fee is any where near accurate.
These suggestions are so clever and well thought out. "I'd rather buy Kane!" "I'd rather buy Messi!" yeah, genius. This is real life, not football manager.

Not million, just £75.

Aye, if the fee is correct, I'd definitely agree with that. I'll toss my hat in and say that I'd rather we signed Mbappe for £40m.

You'd never get Lewa for £70m... Though I suppose you could argue it would be better to try get Harry Kane or Lewa for £150m-£200m instead if you're not convinced by this deal.

Just imagine putting that money on the table 6-7 years ago. Messi would be playing for us then and maybe even Neymar. I think I will need to take a break from the transfer season because I get so awfully depressed seeing how our club is forced to pay ridiculous top dollars for just about any player.

Who cares.

We have the money.

No they wouldn't. Ronaldo was more than that 8 years ago. Stop talking nonsense.

It's the same inflation rate that has been happening since the 90's. In 10 years time players will be going for £500/600m and average Premier League players will cost £300m and we'll be casually talking about how the game has gone crazy.

Why do so many people care about the money? We keep banging on about being the richest club who make stupid amounts of money which is well documented by the money lists recents but some get in a hissy fit when we spend it? What would you rather? It stay in the Glazers bank accounts?

Because you have an interest in seeing resources allocated efficiently. The logic that we should overspend just because we can is ridiculously stupid, for all businesses let alone football clubs.

We are not the only ones paying ridiculous amount of money. Everton agreed £30m fee for a GK from relegated team, Juve rejected £52m for their LB and Torino are holding for €100m for Belotti. Fees are ridiculous yes but it's expected because of the new TV deals, clubs have much more money now.

Jordan Pickford who is a decent but largely unproven goalkeeper has just been bought by Everton for 30 million pounds.
You need to wake up, it isn't just United who's paying ridiculous sums. It's the norm now.

Ya I think. Plus I think Morata s dad works there too
Good news it's happening.. Fee sounds high but like others have said, we have the money and we need to spend unfortunately. Hopefully we'll sign some other quality players for more reasonable fees in order to compensate somewhat. I doubt it though

You wouldn't have got Messi for that and we won't be paying any dollars never mind top dollar... if it makes you feel better.

Personally I don't give a shit. I am more annoyed than a pack of 'fives' no longer costs 5p and that you can't get a Freddo for 10p anymore than football transfers. Clubs make more money and players cost more .... odd.

Also - every penny we spend on players doesn't go into the Glazers pocket. So as far as I am concerned? spend spend spend!

When it comes to Morata, money is not the issue for me. Ability wise he can be a world-class striker. Of course, you never know but he is worth the risk. At this point, I just want to be done and I'm happy we manage to convince him to come here.

Also, Spanish papers will try to build this one as much as they can to please the fans. Couldn't care less.

Why would Messi go for less than Ronaldo....when even after about 1 year of Ronaldo going to Madrid everyone was claiming United got fleeced?

In a world of John Stones going for £50m......I'd be quite happy with the middle ground of getting Lindelof/Bailly for that but Morata for £65m whatever.

Ohhhhh Morata costs a fortune, our spending's gone to pot
Can't we buy Mbappe? He wouldn't cost a lot
Have Bayern sell us Lewa
Kane's a smaller fee
Or you can give us Messi and we'll give you Fellaini

So basically they've priced us for what it would cost to get De Gea. The punks. He's a B list striker.. he best kick on with this price tag. I'm expected Torres like returns. (The Liverpool version)

Exactly. Also, it's the same world where Virgil Van Dijk is valued at £60m and what Liverpool was prepared to pay.

People who mention Kane or Lewa are out of their mind. First, you can't get them, second, it would cost double this money at least.

No one knows that. They haven't bid for De Gea and we haven't named our price, at least last time journalists talked about it it was Morata + 23 Million.

It's only that world in England. Tell me where Sule is quoted at £50m? It's not the going rate is the going let's rip off the premier league clubs rate.

Prices will keep on rising and this is why it is important to grow with the modern times. Sir alex hated it and that is why he refused to buy most of the young talented players when he had the chance which clubs like manchester city took advantage of. Imagine if sir alex never let city buy talents like silva, aguero or got mata/hazard when they were interested to play for us. Sir alex hated the transfer market and which is why he refused to shell out more money and let other teams buy some talented . But he was sir alex and he can win the league with cleverly and anderson, no other manager can do that.

If we have to compete with the top unfortunately we have to shell extra £10 to £20 m to get our targets as we are Manchester United. Maybe we have to sometime say No and move on.

Well, we are, unfortunately, English football club.

It's true that the likes of Bayern, Juventus or any Spanish club wouldn't go near £100m for Lukaku, feck I believe they wouldn't even consider him in their team. Still, you have an exception from that with Higuain going to Juventus for €90 million and Real will probably go through the roof for Mbappe after just one excellent season.

I think Morata has more scope for improvement than Lukaku and also offers more. That said, if you can get Lukaku the ball, he will score. It's just that other than that he's not that complete a player. That said, Mourinho always seems to want a big man up front and gets the most out them too.

why stop there at 6-7 years. Since we are throwing inflation and supply and demand out the window the amount of money we are putting on the table. could have bought us the entire real Madrid and. Barcelona squads 25 years ago!! ridiculous

I really hope we sign him. From all the strikers who are realistically obtainable, I like Morata the most

To be fair even €75m wouldn't have bought you Messi 6-7 years ago.

Reality is there's probably only 2 or 3 genuinely world class out and out strikers out there in the game these days in Suarez, Lewandowski and arguably Zlatan was pre injury then there's the second tier of Morata, Aubamayeng, Benzema, Kane, Costa, Higuain and Aguero and every one of them would first choice for us.

Of all of those only Morata, Aubamayeng and Costa are gettable but in today's game if you can get a quality striker for less than £60 million you've done very well, Real want £78 and we offered £52 so £65 is the most likely fee and at 24 with his best years ahead of him I think Morata is a very good signing and probably the best one possible.

If we can get a quality right winger and got Martial firing on all cylinders like in his debut season then I think we'd have lots of goals in us with Rashford, Mkhitaryan, Mata and Lingard also around and with a Fabinho type in the team we'd probably also see more goals from Pogba as well.

True, but he also wants a mobile target man like Drogba, Costa, Milito who were all way more mobile than Lukaku and same can be said about Morata.

While Jose really loves Zlatan, Milito as a striker, because of his movement, was better suited to his Inter side in the end.

The bubble will burst long before that.

People losing their shit over transfer fees verses X years ago need to go look at club turnover increases in those years.

As a percentage of turnover even Pogba wasn't our biggest outlay on a transfer fee.

Calm your tits and be happy we're getting a good player.

I apologize for that image and the anger taken out on the club, player and money.
