So the reason he's apparently pushing for a move out of Real Madrid is his lack of minutes. I wonder if he'll be angling or even be lured into moving back in a few years..

Hopefully he'll decide to close that chapter. If he joins United it will be the second time Madrid have sold him. If they wanted him back from United it would be the 3rd time he's been a Madrid player.

Hasn't even joined, already discussing his departure. Wow.

Haha.. gotta think ahead of ourselves
He was absolutely devastated when Real Madrid put the buyback clause and eventually triggered it as he got really attached to Juventus. If we continue on the right path under Mourinho, I don't see why any player would want to leave unless he dreams of playing for Real Madrid like Ronaldo.

I don't do Instagram (other than Evra's of course). How do you know he liked it?

You can click on likes and see who liked it on the app. Alternatively, if you follow him you can see what he likes/liked, but only on the app, not in the browser.

Oh right that explains it, I'm on a PC.

Has someone in this thread made a post regarding his main strengths and weaknesses? It would be good to read one if so.

Very strong and deceptively good at dribbling in tight spaces. A workhorse up front, a handful for CBs really.

Very clinical finisher, good in the air, quite the poacher and his all round game is quite good. He's at his best when teams allow him space to run into.

I've only just noticed that Morata and De Gea were in the Atletico youth team together for 3 seasons. Re-uniting the pair of them could help to keep DDG at the club in the long run.
It's funny you mention that, as I had the same thoughts a d looked up their years there to confirm.

I thought it was interesting that the reports of Madrid dropping their interest (for now) in DDG came just as the Morata stories really picked up steam.

Jose may have wanted to confirm DDG staying before going hard in for Morata, as he could help Morata settle.

So with him and Lindelof done, who are we going to sign next to be our number 7? Any speculations?
I would say there is still a strong chance we'll be going back for Griezmann next season (maybe even in January, although I doubt it), so we'll be keeping #7 for him. If we give it to someone else then that is pretty much the strongest indicator possible that we won't be back in for him and he's missed his opportunity.

I'm a bit concerned about his scoring record at Juve. Is there a particular reason why he only scored 15 and 12 goals in his two seasons there?, to put things into context Marcus Rashford scored 11 goals last season. In terms of technical quality and physicality he's really good but that doesn't always translate into 30 goals a season striker.
This is a good read if you want to know more about him as a person and his career so far.

But in his second season, he was struggling, 100 days passing without a goal and he had tried everything, from cutting his hair to changing car. Things were not right; he wasn’t right. “People think we’re machines; they don’t realise that behind a bad run there’s almost always a personal problem, some family issue,” he says. “You have feelings, you make mistakes, you’re a person.”

“I was a bit lost. It wasn’t just the goals; I was arguing with people who are important to me, not bothering with things that truly matter,” Morata continues. “It was a bit of everything. I’d left home young, I’d fought to play for Juventus and I was ‘conditioned’ by Madrid having a buy-back option that didn’t depend on me. I didn’t know my future. All that affected me and I let myself slide a bit, became distracted.”

"Come to me, you will be important," Mourinho told him directly.

Not being funny but how could Marca possibly know he said that?
Looks like they sent in the bluebottle to report direct from the wall. How else would they get the "quotes"?
I know, I know

But it is Marca, Real's mouth piece. Could be a little fan apeasing going on, adding a little logic to soften the blow maybe. But more importantly is the momentum is growing. I know we all hope and believe its all but done. We have been here before sadly.

You do get the feeling that this is basically a done deal, simply a matter of crossing the t's and dotting the i's. Moratta wants first team football at a big club playing in the CL, United tick those boxes, and I very much doubt he will get a better offer than what Jose will throw at him.

I still prefer Belloti, though.

He's a first teamer with Spain nowadays right? Hope he gets to start against Macedonia tonight and us muppets can have a good look at him

Did you know Messi is Italian? I'm actually serious
Messi has Italian ancestry. But he is not Italian. I saw a video of him speaking with Roberto Baggio once & Pep had to translate for him.

He's Basque.

I'm so excited for our future Italian Welbeck!
 I am assuming that you are simply having fun but Xabi is Basque & Xavi is Catalan & Morata is the Spanish Welbeck not Italian

Same way they knew pogba signed for us because real let them or how the real utd match in usa had more utd fans for everyone else but it suddenly turned white rather than red for marca, they are madrid @$$ kissing machine.
