Álvaro Morata | Chelsea player

Possible more twists and turns then. Knowing RM and the fax machine situation, it wouldn't surprise me... though Morata could do some heavy lifting on his end.

But politically it would be silly -- we will have to play them like twice within a month during the pre-season. Awkward.

I've always liked him, the timing feels right because he's matured a lot in the last couple of seasons and now he's just about ready to become the main player of a big team.
i think this is in line with Maureen's comment before the Palace game IINM. He said something like the team needs good base or foundations for the young players (like Mitchell, Harrop, Gomes) to perform.

For me it could mean literally that, or he means only players that have good foundations (experience) can play for United at the highest level. Rashford probably a bit of anomaly where he thrives on being pressured or pushed, again based on Maureen's recent comments.

So why are Real so willing to sell him?
Real had sold the likes of Sneijder, Robben, Makelele, Di Maria, Huntelaar, Higuain, Ozil etc. before, even when they were in their prime. Whenever a player is no longer in their plans they sell them off, doesn't matter if they are really good.

This and Lindelof would be a great start to the transfer window. If we can nail down Perisic and Fabinho (assuming we're definitely in for the latter) by the end of the month that would be good and efficient work from Woodward to deliver Mourinho the additions to the squad he wants.

We still need a Woodward special signing thrown in, one that comes completely from nowhere. He can get his 4 players then Woodward can go all muppet and bring in a superstar.

Do you think the reason no concrete news has come out yet is because the club are worried he may not get a work permit?
I've looked on his Wikipedia and he still doesn't have a cap for Argentina.
We'll have to rely on 'exceptional talent'. At least one way or another we will know if he's world class or not before we actually sign him.

Who you talking about?

Very good business by Real, if so. I just worry for Mbappe.
Seems to have a good head on his shoulder but Real can turn anyone. I think it's too early for him too tbh but the kid is special, maybe he'll hit the ground running. If not, we'll be in for him for 100mil couple of years down the line so it's not all bad

Hahahaha, true.

They aren't and afaik they weren't last summer either. Morata himself is the one looking for a move in case he can't get guarantees to start more at RM, which is understandable.

True, especially with it being a World Cup year.

It is refreshing though, we're looking to be getting a player who wants to leave and play, rather than the snake we bought off them last time around.

So no medical on Monday then.
There's definitely a few turns left in this "saga". Bound to be a meltdown after the Spain match when he says how much he loves Real.

I'm a bit concerned about his scoring record at Juve. Is there a particular reason why he only scored 15 and 12 goals in his two seasons there?, to put things into context Marcus Rashford scored 11 goals last season. In terms of technical quality and physicality he's really good but that doesn't always translate into 30 goals a season striker.

IIRC Evra said that Morata struggled in Serie A because of the focus on tactical side, and he was much better in the CL, if that's the case then maybe he can thrive in PL, which focuses a lot on physics instead of tactics

1st season
League 8 goals + 5 assists in 11 starts
Champions league 5 goals + 2 assists in 9 starts

2nd season
League 7 goals + 7 assists in 16 starts
Champions league 2 goals + 2 assists in 6 starts.

Tevez was the preferred option during his stay there.

He will be a 30 goal a season striker if he starts every game in the number 9 position. His conversion rate is also around 25% which is very high.

I've only just noticed that Morata and De Gea were in the Atletico youth team together for 3 seasons. Re-uniting the pair of them could help to keep DDG at the club in the long run.

Might do the opposite.

Morata knows a ton of players here: the Spanish lads, Pogba, Jose and even Fabinho if he joins.
