Álvaro Morata | Chelsea player

Should we be at all worried that Conte, who signed Morata for Juve, and who needs a striker this summer, is not being linked with him at all (afaik)?

Real had sold the likes of Sneijder, Robben, Makelele, Di Maria, Huntelaar, Higuain, Ozil etc. before, even when they were in their prime. Whenever a player is no longer in their plans they sell them off, doesn't matter if they are really good.

I actually highly respect this way of running the first team. Never losing sight of the saying: "no single player is bigger than the club"

I guess Real have the luxury of being able to effortlessly attracting the best talents in the world though, something which other teams don't necessarily have.

Surely Morata is better option to Lukaku, especially for us? Don't see why some of you guys are worried he's going to Chelsea.

It's something we used to do too. Hughes, Ince, Beckham, Stam, Ruud.

Sentiment and romanticism started playing a role in our recent lean years. Coincidence?

Conte wasn't manager of Juventus when Morata joined. So no worries in that regard.

What is worrying is that Morata had 0 caps for Italy under Conte.

Conte wants Morata. Emenalo wants Lukaku. Ah well lol

He was absolutely devastated when Real Madrid put the buyback clause and eventually triggered it as he got really attached to Juventus. If we continue on the right path under Mourinho, I don't see why any player would want to leave unless he dreams of playing for Real Madrid like Ronaldo.

I am not sure if that makes much sense. If he was 'devastated' imagining a move away from Juve, he always had the option of rejecting Real and being their back up. A buy back clause doesn't mean you can get someone even if they don't want to afaik. Juve were the only powerless party. Morata had as much of a say in the move as Real.

Because we take the risk not chelsea. They are going for the tried and tested in Lakaku we get the untested. It is likely to work out for us but nobody really knows.

I'd suspect this is the main reason even if he was interested, once the staff sat down and weighed up the pro n cons its likely to be Lakaku they pick at this stage. Could be very different in 12 months time.

They already have Ronaldo, Bale, and Benzema - A successful trio that have gotten them 3 CLs in 4 years. Its not rocket science that they are pursuing Mbappe and therefore James and Morata would move on.

I saw somewhere saying that they would only go for Mbappe if Bale left. But if Morata is surplus to requirements at Madrid, he's welcome here.

Don't Juventus have some sort of director of football who makes the signings?
Read the Guardian article, Conte clearly wanted him, both for Juve and Chelsea at the start of the past season. Morata even says that he's the only manager that "bet" on him.

Hope we keep Darmian so at least we have an Italian mate for him to help him settle.
Well Morata was born in Madrid, played on the Spain national team since 2009, and is most certainly not Italian. So why would having Darmian help him settle?

So why does he have 20 Italian caps?

The Italian locals call him the next Vieri.

I think its some ongoing joke about glenn hoddle thinking he was italian in a match commentary.

.

It's also worrying that Morata never got a call-up from Martin O'Neill for Ireland as well.

Not being pessimistic, but do you reckon Real will hold the record of signing their own youth product the most amount of time? Sold him twice, and hopefully he'll be that successful here that they want him back!
