We could make song for him to the tune of this. I'll start.

'Mo-ra-ta tat-at ta-ta'

My Question. Please ignore my tactical illiteracy but the more posts I read here, more I get the sense that people here think that he will be employed on the right of three.
I thought he was a replacement of Zlatan and would be employed as good old number 9.
Can anyone guide me here?

Q. What do you get when you cross an Italian and a Spaniard?
A. A guy who makes you an offer you can't understand.

Ba-rom-bom-bom

Yea thats the FM brigade they think everyone should play in 3 positions at once.

He is a number 9 and can play off or on the last man. Good in the air, mobile, strong, fast. He will play down the centre and either look for it behind or come to meet it.

He's #9 as it gets, he won't be deployed on the right.

I like the fact we have a nice Spanish contingent at the club. That can be only good.

He's as much of a striker as it gets. Total traditional number 9.

I'd say that for about 98% of the time he'll play in the center. If United are on a counterattack, and the formation necessitates, Valencia would allow Morata to go to the center-right. Generally speaking, though, Morata is a traditional number 9.

Even if we get a great goal scorer, like Griezmann, Morata's hold up play would allow said scorer to play on the wing. It's why, eventually, United fans should hope Martial and/or Rashford become capable of excelling on the left wing.

Thanks mates for the info because I was really getting confused as some of us were trying to squeeze in Balotti in as well. Now, what are your thoughts regarding him being placed as Zlatan successor. I mean last year it was a big fuss on the forum saying that he was making us slow. Would Morata give us an advantage over him in this regards

He is can hold up and slow things down or turn on the after burners and pressurise defences

Morata doesn't start. As expected really.

We're likely getting fleeced on the fee for him but there seems to be a real bond between Morata and Jose that looks like it'll be largely responsible for him ending up here, and that's good to see. At the end of the day, we can afford basically any fee, so it's not really an issue. Just hoping it doesn't set too much of a precedent that clubs can charge us whatever they like and we'll pay it regardless (see also: Belotti)

I do like Morata as a player, his stats this season have been outstanding for Real. When he plays, he scores. I really hope he can translate that to a 90 minute game though, and not just sub appearances. He might not be a ready made goalscorer of the highest repute, but he's certainly got it in his locker, and its just a matter of getting it out of him.

What he needs, if he has any sense, is to come to us, score loads. Then Costa goes off to China and then Morata will be the starting CF for Spain.

Yeah. Costa will essentially be committing an international career suicide if he fecks off to China.

I think that is definitely in his mind. Like that he is leaving Real to get more minutes and establish himself as a striker for United and Spain. Should be motivated and with a point to prove after Real let him go twice.

Off to watch the Italy game as Belotti starts for them.

Good shout. Although, I doubt we're getting both. Well to say I'd be pleasantly surprised if we signed both would be an understatement.

Also, our Spanish contingent should be great. De Gea, Herrera, Mata and Morata. All class, both on and off the field. Feck, let's buy them all.

Except Ramos and Pique, they can stay.
