Could be somewhat similar to the transfer of Sanchez from Barca. Though he's not at the same level, he's still a top drawer footballer who suffers for not fitting into a machine that wins everything. I understand Real wanting to keep him as an option and see if he can win a place in the side in maybe the next 2 seasons when the current stars wind down a bit. It's not strange that Real sought a high fee for him given the current market, his ability and his age.

It maybe looks a higher fee in comparison to the apparent cut-price Aubameyang deal at €60m.

Hope this gets done and dusted soon!

It sounds like this is really happening although after the De Gea past saga one can't be completely sure. I think Real Madrid got a good fee on him but if we aren't signing anyone then it's worthless as we do need some to cover him up, we can't be successful with just Benzema as our striker, it would to risky and imprudent on our behalf. So I don't want hi to go if he goes I hope he does well.

Seems like many on here have also warmed to the though of having him as a Manchester United player, never understood the Welbeck comparisons and how could some not want him here and at the same time wanting something like Belloti; maybe it's because he is spanish but still some very weird comments on here.

Belotti scored 27 goals, how can anyone want that.

I agree it's a strange bit of business by RM. It seems like Perez is dead set on Mbappe, but that may not happen this summer. It's a decent fee, but quite high risk if Benzema decides to go missing/sulk/get injured for a few months. Your attack really doesn't operate too well without him. It's hardly like the James situation where you need to get rid of him for the development of Asensio, so I don't think the fee is too ridiculous. You don't really need the money, and can't really replace him unless you get Dybala/Mbappe. I'd personally have wanted Benzema gone before Morata.

This and Lindelof would be a great start to the transfer window. If we can nail down Perisic and Fabinho (assuming we're definitely in for the latter) by the end of the month that would be good and efficient work from Woodward to deliver Mourinho the additions to the squad he wants.

It's not so simple. Real still have Isco and James on the bench (when BBC starts). They aren't forwards but in a change of system they can be as effective as Benzema in supporting Ronaldo. Moreover, Ronaldo himself also plays in a central role at times.

Morata's "problem" was he was scoring goals himself, not setting them up for Ronaldo. He wanted to be the striker of the team, which brought him in direct competition with Ronaldo. I don't think there's a more sure-fire way to get sold by Real.

Good for us though, eh? Even motivation wouldn't be a problem with this Madrid reject, this being the World Cup year and all. Let's back him to the hilt and make him forget about Madrid. Get in Alvaro!

Some United fans are under the impression that a Welbeck could have started upfront for La Roja during Euro2016
That comparison is beyond me as well.
Belotti looks like a classic Calcio 9 while Morata has all kind of movement in him. I dont understand the love for Belotti either after just one year in the Calcio while never playing in the UCL. I would go for the proven UCL performer anyday!

That would be a great window. Throw in Semedo and even better.

I haven't seen much of Semedo outside of a few CL matches, but his profile is certainly promising. As an understudy to eventually take over for Valencia he would make a lot of sense. I do wonder if an LB is on the cards or if Mou thinks he can get away with giving the Shaw/Blind/Darmian platoon another chance.

LB is definitely not a priority as a lot of us (including me) were thinking about 2 months ago. The trio you mentioned offer different qualities and if Shaw looks good in pre-season, Mourinho shouldn't feel the need for another left-back.

I think the position, age and profile of players we have targeted so far are spot-on. Lindelof, Morata, Perisic and Fabinho would be great business.

I've always liked him, the timing feels right because he's matured a lot in the last couple of seasons and now he's just about ready to become the main player of a big team.

Looking at possible United team for next season there's 3 players that were Real Madrid players at some point before signing for Man United:

Mata
Morata
Fabinho

There's no place for everyone so players come and go, but if Manchester feckin United wants these players in their team at some point later on, then there's something right about our player development strategy and our scouting network.
Well. We are the team which delivers most footballers to the premier league. As for scouting, well, RvN, Beckham, CR7 arguably GOAT is still playing for you. I would not trade our scouting for yours, nor our academy. I would say that Barca and arguably Ajax have great academies, while Dortmund and Atletico Madrid have hell of a scouting system, but none of these applies to Real Madrid.Perez prefers galacticos and one can only hope that Zidane will probably pay more attention to home grown player development.

Apparently he won RM second highest no.of points (13) behind ronaldo (14) with his goals. Is this true?

Would expect Martial, Mkhitaryan and even Lingard/Mata/Pogba to chip in with more goals though. Especially as alot of these players are young lads with plenty of room for improvement.

Actually Martial, Mkhitaryan and Mata have scored 15+ goals in a season before with Mkhitaryan and Mata doing it multiple times this past season should be seen as an exception not a rule for both

Heinze also played for them from us

The way he receives the ball and shields it away from defenders, he kind of reminds me of Van Persie.

Good call though I think RVP was better technically -- his 1st touch was exquisite but Morata's link play to-date looks better and looks more two-footed than RVP.

Woke up this morning feelin fine'
Got that Morata on my mind'
Woody's signing players that we should'
I think this transfer is gonna come goooood

Just happy, that's all !
