I love how everyone is referring to the 'supply and demand' mechanism. That's a theoretical model applicable to a perfect market with standardized goods or services. Football players are probably as far away from standard you can get.

I get your point Jacob, but still I would argue that the model fits perfect. If you drop the fact that it's impossible to set a real value on a player, the model is perfect.

Tell me how Real's player development strategy is better then our's?

Looking at possible United team for next season there's 3 players that were Real Madrid players at some point before signing for Man United:

Mata
Morata
Fabinho

There's no place for everyone so players come and go, but if Manchester feckin United wants these players in their team at some point later on, then there's something right about our player development strategy and our scouting network.

Yep. Definitely not hopeful that the likes of Lingard will all of a sudden become this prolific goal scorer

Would expect Martial, Mkhitaryan and even Lingard/Mata/Pogba to chip in with more goals though. Especially as alot of these players are young lads with plenty of room for improvement.

Transfer record for a Spanish player.

"Morata, national record. The agreement between the player and Manchester is total and the departure, imminent".

Looking forward to this, have a feeling that he'll turn into a brilliant player for us and really step his game up to become a top striker. Who cares about the fee if he works out

We should have done like City releasing 5 players in a few hours, announcing 5 signings this evening

Lindelof announced today to make space for morata announcement Monday, more to follow next week too.

I thought the transfer fee was too much and I've been arguing with other posters in this thread, but it's Saturday night, I've had a few beers, we just announced Lindelof, so you know what...SIGN MORATA

The fee will be something like 50 million euros + 20 million in bonuses. Marca will always claim madrid got the better end of the deal. Remember them photoshopping Madrid fans in a pre season game vs united. They will say the total fee with clauses, pretty sure the fee will be less and include clauses thta will take it upto 70 million euros.

I think someone else said it a few days ago but Marca makes Ivanka Trump talking about Donald in Fox impartial.

Get the feck in!!!

You are free to celebrate your national record and thank you very much.

If it's in Marca it's as good as done. Sale of a Madrid player would have been briefed by the hierarchy.

Anyway we can get clarification on this? Or is it just opinion?
Mourinho has said it himself somewhere along the lines. Wants all signings completed before pre season to really knuckle down with the team. Makes sense really.

, but I thought he was Italian . . . . . . . . . . . . . .lol.

Mourinho said(i am rephrasing it)- the group that comes back from holidays will be stronger and more balanced than the group that went. Something like that.

So watching The Gladiator now. Is Morata like Maximus?

He's a Spaniard but fighting for Roman empire/Italy or something?

Arf!

So according to that article Real Madrid wanted 90m euros but it looks like the transfer will go ahead at around 70m euros.

Hernandez? Mark Robbins?

Pippo Inzaghi, not a great footballer but in terms of goals friction lethal in the oppositions goal.

I think its pretty obvious Mourinho would like to have his squad sorted to get a full preseason in with everyone rather than having late arrivals.

Woody signing them up at this rate will form a queue at Carrington come Monday.

When this was announced, Morata was a player I'd heard of but didn't know a huge amount about.

After trawling through some forums etc on the Real side, it interesting to see how much they rate him. Many of them don't want him to go, which surprised me, they're such fickle fans that I thought they might have already turned their back on him. I'm excited to see how he can adapt to the EPL, Jose will know how to mould him.

Real are under the impression that the sales of Morata and Bale will pave the way to fund Mbappé. If that's the case then that's a hell of a lot of pressure on 18 yr old shoulders.

So with him and Lindelof done, who are we going to sign next to be our number 7? Any speculations?

Am I right in thinking that a Jose type striker and an LVG type striker are very similar, in that they are both like target men who bring other players around them into play? I just remember a discussion here prior to the Martial purchase of the type of striker we should be buying, and names like Benzema and Morata (then at Juve) were being mentioned.

I've seen very little of Morata and from the little I've seen he seems to be a player who can link the play rather than just finish chances and be ultra prolific in terms of goals scored. Am I talking shite here?
