He got into a bust up with Zidane I think in April due to being subbed. He's no fool and knows that as long as Benzema is there his first team games against the better teams will be limited. They also have made it absolutely clear they are after Mbappe who is also much younger the Morata, which would mean he'll be 2nd or even third choice if they get him and Benzema is still there.

Mbappe has much higher ceiling mate. €140m is crazy money, but if I have to choose between getting Morata and Perisic or Mbappe for the same fee Id ave the latter. Surely many would opt for the same. Quality over quantity.

I thought Mbappe was a done deal a week ago, but there's talk of Benzema getting a new contract and if Bale is also staying then someone is going to the bench. That would probably be Benzema, but Zidane is in love with him so I'm having hard time accepting that.

My line of thinking would be Morata, James, Nainggolan and Fabinho, but it's quite clear we are looking at Morata, Perisic, Lindelof and likely Fabinho/Dier/Bakayoko or similar. It seems that Mourinho may keep faith with the likes of Fellaini, Mata and Carrick going forward, whereas I would not.
Griezmann has constantly scored around 20 league goals a season on average for the last 3 years. If Morata stays fit and is the focal point of our attack, he can match that.
Like a lot of players he gets extremely overhyped. Very good, no question, but vastly over hyped. In todays market i think he is worth about 50ish.
This is a none starter unless the player is unhappy and even then you could expect to pay 100 maybe even 150 million. Its just not going to happen.

Griezmann has constantly been Atletico's best player, 3rd in Ballon Do'r last year, top scorer at the EURO's and only year and a half older. He's much better player than Morata is at the moment.
He might be overpriced, but that is the price we are having to pay. It is just tough. Also the Griezmann situation has put us in a desperate situation. Teams know it, so don't think we will get a cheaper striker than we are getting. In fact there is a chance we were getting both as Griezmann is not a No. 9. We still will need more goals, so either we will sign someone else to play with Morata or hope that our other players decide to actually score goals for a change.
Griezmann is definitely the better player at the moment. All I'm saying is that I think Morata has another level to reach, whilst Griezmann is probably as good as he is gonna get.
I'm obviously assuming that Morata keeps improving at the rate he has in the last three years since he went to Juve.

Think he's similar in Kane in some regard. Excellent finisher, not exceptionally quick but has a gallop when in his stride, strong and good hold up play.

Exactly. Zlatan's injury has changed what he wanted. I actually thought he would buy both him and Griezmann. That would have been some double act. So we either need another No. 10 or he will have to trust what we have and hope they can produce some goals.
