Didnt Adnan announce himself in this fixture last season with 2 goals to turn around a 1-0 deficit?

Going for 1-6 United. Januzajx 3 Mata and Rooneyx2.

The score predictions really have swung after that Swansea defeat. Everyone was sure of victory going into that game, now there's a pretty big grey wedge in that pie chart :nervous:

This is where the formation to be used best imh. I think with 352 we always need to be patient whether we are better team or not. Against Swan, when they know how to take care of our wingbacks movement and we lack quality in center both defensively and offensively, it is hard if we are not patient. We were nervous and really wanted to show how far we improve and that results in some bad moments. Patience is really important i think.

I agree with "dont start Chicha in this formation". As some point out the way we press and the shape of front 3, when Chicha starts he ruins it. Mata in the middle and Rooney, Welbeck out wide when we are without possesion. Somehow it creates solid shape and good preparation for counter. I like Chicha but if he plays we need another formation so it is not only good for him but also for the team.

    Some training pics guys.

I have been hit by fever and really down after last match :(. Lift me up my love

    This picture means hope.

It's funny when you're a Chelsea fan and you seem to be the most optimistic person here.

    Not sure if serious.

Maybe a 1-3 away win is more realistic?

I'm sticking with a 3 or 4-0 united win to shut up all the doom and gloom mongers. We're not shit and just had an unlucky first game, we'll prove that.

Yeah, from the training pictures, Valencia, Welbeck, Evans, Cleverley and of course RVP are all back in the squad. Bodes well even if they're all not ready to play 90 yet.

We need to pull an Arsenal of last season....lose opening match at home...become laughing stock....big name signing (AdM )...go on 10 match winning streak!!!*

*not actually sure if it was a 10 match winning streak...but they did alright thereafter.

Lots of players back in training. Going to be a bit tricky predicting the lineup this time round.
Yeah, think the only players injured now are Shaw, Lingard from the last game and Fellaini getting injured the other day. Thankfully that injury crisis was only for that 1 game, although it did cost us.

    Banana skin.

I'll be more confident (or maybe less confident) after van Gaal gives his presser, as I have no idea if any players who weren't fit for Swansea will return with the exception of van Persie (who isn't going to play the full game either).

If van Persie starts, then we can probably play 352.. But, that's only if one of Rafael or Valencia are fit. Although, if Blackett starts again (which I'm fine with, he had a good game against Swansea) then we could possibly play Young as the RWB with Rojo on the left. If van Persie is coming off the bench regardless, then I would much rather us play a 4411 for this game as my opinion is we need to play to what personnel we have at our disposal:

    de Gea
    Jones Smalling Blackett Rojo
    Januzaj Fletcher Herrera Young
    Mata
    Rooney
    --
Amos; M.Keane; Cleverley, Fellaini, Kagawa; Hernandez, van Persie

That's if Rafael, Evans, Valencia, and Welbeck are all still injured, and if van Persie is going to play 30 minutes rather than 60 (I think it's one or the other). Januzaj is not at full fitness despite how effective he has been in both of his substitute appearances so far, so ideally we would replace Januzaj with van Persie in the second half to look like this:

    de Gea
    Jones Smalling Blackett
    Young Fletcher Herrera Rojo
    Mata
    van Persie Rooney

If we do this, or if we simply have a couple of players back from injury, then I reckon we can sneak the win by a goal as this is no doubt a tough game. Sunderland, if they can get anywhere near their end of season form from last term, should be looking to finish in the top half.

Gonna go for Sunderland 1-2 Man Utd again.

Edit: Although, if someone can point out which guys are definitely back in training, that would help :)

    Update to my team:

    De Gea
    Jones - Smalling - Rojo
    Valencia - Fletcher - Herrera - Young
    Mata
    Welbeck - Rooney

    Amos - Blackett - Rafael - Cleverley - Kagawa - Januzaj - Van Persie

If Van Persie or Welbeck can start instead of Chicarito then I think we have an ok chance.

with some of the lads being available for selection... our starting 11 and bench dont look as shitty as last week. confident we will win this ... hope the boys are aswel

In the video that came out today, I am not seeing Rafael .... I do see Evans and Valencia training with the first team though. Would love both of them this week.

    Jones - Smalling - Evans
    Rafael - Fletcher - Rojo

Maybe too earliy, but a much better balance till Shaw comes back, pushing Rojo back and Evans instead of Smalling.

Be lucky to grab a point in this....

Not because of our current state, but because it's always been tough there.
Even with Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney etc etc, we needed a lucky deflection to grab a win there.

Glad that most of our players are back. Mostly looking forward to the return of Van Persie and Welbeck upfront to give our attack a bit of magic, flair and so that we can start playing like this intricate style illustrated below:

I also hope that blackket remians in our starting eleven, but I feel that Van Gaal will go with the experience of Evans instead.

Agreed. Welbeck gives us so much in the final third, and it's only now he's out that some people have only started realising that. His link up play, one touch football and flair is pivotal to the way Van Gaal wants to play, and quickens up our attack.

Think Evans could be still out, which means Van Gaal will probably go for Rojo at LCB.

    We do always win though.

Seems to early for Rojo. I think a debut at Mk dons would ease him in much better to English football. But, what do I know? I do not watch how he performs in training.

Na, to be honest, it would make much more sense to ease him in against MK Dons, although those kind of games can be tougher, if you know what I mean.

If Blackett does start on Sunday however, I wouldn't mind, as I feel his performances in pre-season and against Swansea has justified his spot. We just need a proper number 6 ahead of our 3 centre backs, as they were way too exposed against Swansea, in my opinion.

Mata was pretty invisible last game, I think right now Rooney would do better in that spot.

Yeah, Rooney was great against Swansea, especially in things that number ten should be good at, passing, first touch, etc.

You're right, he's a terrible player behind a striker while Mata has consistently delivered from that position.

    ?

Mata had very good end of last season for us(much better than Rooney btw who was bellow average in pretty much whole 2014), but even if Mata wasn't good that still doesn't have to do anything with your reason for dropping Mata, which was because Mata was invisible in the last game.

Out of interest, is there any chance that Rojo will start this game?

3-0 United, for me. Go out & smash them, send a message. We cannot afford to try and coast this one.

However great of a player Rooney is, his inconsistent first touch and his instinct to ping it out to the right winger doesn't make for a great #10. He's a fantastic striker. He shouldn't be the #10 anymore.

Hope RVP comes back for this one and we play Rojo as left wing back. I really really do not want to see Young at the left wing back position again...
