Southampton are hyper-committed to a style of play their players are in no way suited to. Their defenders tend to play nothing passes between them until they're forced to go to the wingbacks, who then have no support, so the forwards have to go out very wide to help out. None of their midfielders really like getting into the box either, so they end up with no attacking threat whatsoever. It's why they've only scored the one goal, a late consolation courtesy of their right-back.
The thing is, they will more than likely have the majority of the ball and that will make the caf a wretched place to be. It's a bit LVG when I've seen them - the players can't really make any penetrating passes so they just play it safe whenever possible, meaning games where they have upwards of 60% possession without ever creating an actual chance. This was exactly how it went for them at home to Forest, and I think it's how most of their games this season will go.
So all in all, my prediction is that we'll win 2-0 and there'll be a huge meltdown because we let Jan Bednarek play 82 passes to Jack Stephens, which will be clear proof that we were played off the park and should give up on football.
