He was fine in the first half and fell away in the second. He seems to react really poorly to yellow cards which he perceives as unfair.
I remember a game were we were on top of Spurs with Bruno playing deeper in midfield, he got a random card and just fell to pieces, which in turn led to us falling to pieces as a team.De Ligt says it was just cramps and nothing serious. Great to hear.The commentators are nuts to be saying the red for the foul on Garnacho was harsh. Claims the tackle was without force. Casemiro steps on a ball and slips onto a player is murder.
I'm feeling good. We won. But those first half performances are not far and few in between. We're always getting bypassed in midfield and you cannot be blind for that fact.

I think he got a bit exposed. He's improved, but one of the major progression issuess we have is his ability to receive the ball in our defensive half. I wonder if we’ll see Rashford/Garnacho and Højland either side of Zirkzee in some games as a front 3. Rasmus could be lethal coming in off the right, can go outside too and finished with both feet.3 points is always a good day.
My one problem today is that they had the opportunity to crush them by 5 or more. Especially when they went to 10, it was a chance to push for more. I just don’t see that killer instinct to go get more. Could’ve ended this day easily on the positive side of GD.
Probably Ruud as interim. But that’s for the likes of Ashworth and Berrada etc to figure out, not me, obviously.
He definitely got the energy to get round the pitch too early to judge but he won the ball cleanly once or twice, he offers very little going forward however, touch is poor, Zirkzee Touch is silk but he needs to do some one on one finishing with RVN he needs to lift the ball more and find the corners, he could be a great signing if he can add goals to his game.
And this is my point we need to be far more ruthless in front of goal, we need to see a team that doesn’t score 5 goals in 4 Pl games but instead we should have scored 8-10 then all your problems go away!
Yep becomes more like a 4312 with Zirkzee dropping deeper could see this being far more dangerous in terms of goals scored

He was easily skinned on one occasion in the box where he found himself in no man's land and he allowed a Southampton player to get a free header while he just stood there. The game became easier to manage after our second goal paid put to Southamptons challenge but our defense was on the ropes in general
So you expect a perfect performance from everyone never mind the best player on the day then.

Martinez and DeLigt were outstanding. Maguire would start for most PL sides. You wouldn't want Evans starting league matches for us but I don't panic when he comes on for 10 minutes at the end. Then there's Yoro still to come back.
It's a nice position to be in.After all the doom and gloom pessimists from when the lineup was announced to it being a comfortable 3-0 win (apart from a dodgy half hour)
I didn't expect a perfect performance, but am I not allowed to honestly evaluate a single game performance? Our defense was shaky in the first half and we got a reprieve after our second goal totally killed their momentum. I pointed out De Ligts shaky moments at the time of play. Are they to be overlooked? At that point Dalot was our worst player at the back and De Ligt was second due to the aforementioned incidents. The picture changed in the second half
This is where I disagree. De Ligt played very well. Martinez by comparison was invisible in the first half we could have been sunk without De Ligt. Dalot was awful yes.
Needs to get a couple of starts, and I think he'll become a mainstay in the team. He seems to have a decent football brain, I liked the way he was pre-emptively switching on to different players as the play evolved, like he seemed to do it faster than the other players. Put a couple of blocks in during his cameo as well. Need to see more of course, but he seems a lot more intelligent on/off the ball than someone like a Fred (who he's been compared to).
We did alright in the end though.
We were 8th last year with 14 Pl defeats, ETH has a lot more convincing than an easy to win to the worst team in the EPL this season!This forum;

Every loss is the apocalypse, no matter who the oppositionI didn’t see the game but judging by the highlights, it seemed like we were a bit ropey for the first half hour. Onana’s penalty save seemed to give them a wake up call to get their finger out and as soon as we scored the first goal 2 kind later and then a quick 2nd goal after that, it was curtains for Southampton as their heads just completely dropped.- Status
