I feel Bruno has been as poor as in the other three matches. Poor decision making, losing the ball, being bullied, complaining, smashing the ball with no angle into opposition players. Poor.

At least he put in a good ball but agreed he's not been his best. Dalot on the other hand has been abysmal to the point they are only attacking one area.

The importance of having a penalty saving goalkeeper! 8 minutes after that fine Onana save United found themselves 2-0 in front. The 1st goal a great cross by Bruno and fine finish by De Ligt. 2nd goal Rashford with a confidence boosting goal and fine finish also.

After that could and should have made it 3-0 before the break. For all the talk from TNT from the woman with the awful accent and that idiot Joe Cole United had more possession than Southampton in that half and passing accuracy better also.

Not that bad really, more possession, more shots on target, more corners. Southampton have had over 60% possession in their previous games apparently which has impressed the commentators.

We had a wobble for about 20 mins, good save from Onana and it's been fine since.

2-0 up and the commentators constantly talking about Southampton
They're pissed because this was set up for an upset.

First game after an international break, 12.30pm Saturday kick off, away game where they have to travel to the other side of the country etc

What're you on about. Look at the football we're playing instead of just the scoreline. And this is against Southampton. Completely nullified midfield and huge void in there.
I think what @Gopher Brown is getting at is that, frankly, it's tiring as feck hearing people moan incessantly about Ten Hag instead of mentioning that we've played well in that last 15 minutes and bagged two decent goals. Not to mention the Onana penalty save.

In other words; football, eh? It can be exciting sometimes! So maybe folk could quit being fecking miserable for five minutes and trying to bring everyone down to their level.

And this is from someone who still hasn't changed his opinion and wants Ten Hag gone, but if I want to bitch about it I'll do it in the appropriate thread.

 Not sure whether we watched the same 45minutes. Goal aside, Rashford didn't have any good scene. Bruno more or less the same. Should we assume a "positivity agenda" here?
Just a realistic agenda rather than pour scorn on the new scapegoats.
It's possible to watch a game without having to belittle the involvements of players that produce during said game.

Relived to be 2 up after that first 35 mins or so. Good to see us take a couple of chances. Would be nice to go and kill this early on in the second half, and get Ugarte on.

Comms are unreal. Penalty and early save aside, don’t think Southampton actually created anything. Lots of passing, clearly seen through the stats of them having more than anyone else in the league, but when it counts we scored twice. Nothing about Ben Breretons clear elbow/shove on Mazraoui either. Best listening to the game on mute.
Same as their other games this season. Dominate the ball, do nothing with it, don’t take your chances, lose the game.

12:30 kickoff after an international break where maybe ten of our starting XI were playing for their countries was never going to be pretty.

Rode our luck a bit, but we look very dangerous every time we have the ball in their half. Ramsdale has had to make several decent saves aside from the two conceded.

Who for? I think we need to move past him to get close to arsenal let alone city but not sure we have the options at the moment
Quite the opposite, we can play Eriksen there (who is having much better game than Bruno), we can put there Amad and and Garnacho, or even tell Zirksee to play a bit deeper. We have plenty options to play without Bruno, it's manager decision not to.

Hate to be negative after the last 15 minutes, but it worries me how much confidence affects our levels. We’re knocking it around like prime Barca now, when we looked down and out before the goal. There’s something lacking mentally.
    Don’t be negative then

Amad is playing like he believes he can hurt them every time he has the ball, wonderful half from him.Zirkzee has also been solid as far as our attack goes. Don't think we have been particularly good overall and Onana probably saved this game for us.

We are capable of dropping this lead, so need to concentrate and try to score another one. Ugarte should get in.

At least he put in a good ball but agreed he's not been his best. Dalot on the other hand has been abysmal to the point they are only attacking one area.

Can we just say he’s been shit? Because he has.

He’s the superstar captain of the team, no need to sugarcoat it with “not been his best”considering he’s had about 5 horrid giveaways and fluffed two very good chances himself. One single cross (that id expect any decent midfielder to be able to make) on a rehearsed set piece doesn’t change that.

Zirkzee has probably been better. They both stand out as far as technical ability goes.

Zirkzee had good touches, he's very cultured technically, but Amad is the standout performer. In fact, to me he's the best football player at Manchester United

The agenda is set mate, don't waste your time on that lot.

To be fair, we are pretty fortunate to be 2 up. Southampton have been the better team for the most part until the penalty save. The coaching staff have obviously found a weakness in how they defend set pieces as we’ve done a good job at exploiting them after the penalty. Job not done yet, this United team have made it an art for to bottle a 2goal lead last year so hopefully we can see that professional performance that sees out a win which we really want form this side.

1st 35 mins we looked like the newly promoted team and struggled to keep up with the relentlessness and aggressive PL.

He's been good with his feet but my God, Zirkzee is shite in the air, on 33min mark he even lost a header against himself.

Onana's save on the pen seemed critical, the game momentum tipped in our favour after that, Saints just seemed to drop in confidence. That being said I think Southampton play some decent stuff, they just really lack quality, a better team would've put us to the sword in this first 20 mins. But enough of the gloom, 2-0 up at HT after coming through a tough period, hopefully we can add a couple more after the break!

De Ligt would have been offside if Southampton players didn’t play him on. Outstanding analysis by Michael Owen

Still seeing more negatives than positives. We were crap for the majority of the game. Some good things in our attack with Zirkzee and Amad. Really happy for Marcus too.

The entire offense has run through Amad today.

If I’m ETH, even though Rashford has been shit for a year, I’d probably leave him on in hopes that he finally gets going after that goal. He started to finally get involved late into the half. If he starts to go back into a shell, yank him.
