First 20 we were really taking a pummelling but fair play, we rolled our sleeves up and put in a good final 25, led by De Ligt.

Good to see Bruno and Rashford making the difference yet again, just highlights why the doubters and haters are left messaging on a forum and not involved in football really.
Indeed. We can finish top 8 again.

Soton are really not that good. But excellent recovery from first 20 mins of bad game.

Poor first half, but we scored two goals. Dalot and Mainoo have been terrible and giving the ball away again and again. The has to be one of the worst games I have seen from Dalot. A 18 year old boy is having fun playing against him.

I've been saying for ages that our no1 transfer priority should be finding a younger version.
In his first season, we looked great at times with him on the field.
Angel Gomes apparently on a free at the end of the season, makes a lot of sense to get him imo.

Amad and Zirkzee in the front 3 offers far more creativity and playmaking than the trio of Rash/Hojlund and Garnacho who last season were so one dimensional, run and shoot, very little link or chemistry between them.

The bigger problem is there’s no link up between our front 3 and midfield…at all. We let the front 3 try and attack by themselves and provide no support, especially when Bruno is playing as bad as he currently is. That only works when you have an elite front 3 which is not us.

Much better 20mins. Finally some drive and energy. And Rashy finally scores. Amad has been top

Maz is a massive upgrade on AWB. Really hope that he stays fit because he could be great for us. De Ligt looked great in that half as well. Amad had a cracking half.
Get Ugarte on for some time in the second half and replace Dalot with anyone.

Not a great half but we were dangerous on breaks and happily we took some of our chances. Southampton failed to do so with theirs and after starting well, by the end of the half Dibling was the only one who had done well taking on Dalot and we had come back into the game.

Yet again? We’ve lost 2/3 this season and finished 8th last year. They are as big a reason why as anyone else given they start every week. If they did it consistently we’d be a much better team.

Hate to be negative after the last 15 minutes, but it worries me how much confidence affects our levels. We’re knocking it around like prime Barca now, when we looked down and out before the goal. There’s something lacking mentally.
It’s been this way for years. Something rotten at the club but hopefully ineos sort it.

I say this as someone who was Ten Hag in this summer, but the man is beyond blessed.

20 minutes ago he was losing his job.
Southampton are probably the worst team in the league.

We are nowhere near good enough and I think ten hag will go but should still comfortably win this.

It's all to easy to imagine us doing just well enough to keep ten hag in his job over the next couple of months then getting outclassed during more difficult fixtures and being in mid table by christmas

I am not sure anyone really believes ten hag is going to get us to perform well consistently

Dalot has been the worst player on the pitch today but i dont see anyone on the bench that could replace him? Maybe Maguire and put Martinez on the left?

Nobody is winning a header against a Maguire and de Ligt duo
Maybe swap him over with Maz.

we can't have a slow start to the 2nd half (something we do too often). An early 3rd for us ends the game and then it's all about game management

I'm not making any excuses for ETH, but people are forgetting the first game back from the international break is never easy. Just get the win and build from there.

Dalot aside, good performance from everyone.

I feel Bruno has been as poor as in the other three matches. Poor decision making, losing the ball, being bullied, complaining, smashing the ball with no angle into opposition players. Poor.

I watch Bruno for Portugal and he's positionally disciplined and takes care of the ball.

Ten Hag has allowed him to get away with murder at United.

If he can't be disciplined bench him

He’s not a left back, so I have sympathy for him. I thought Maz was meant to be able to play both RB/LB so it seems odd we are playing Dalot out of position.
