We will lose 1-0, I think things will get pretty bad pretty fast for Ole. The chelsea result was a very lucky one and last game against Palace we showned the truth.

On the bright side I think it's better to stop this nonsense of wasting time with Ole so the faster he gets the boot the better.

We can still get top 4 even if we lose against Southampton. Teams have had a worse start to the season than us and done very well. If you expect Ole to win the league or come close with this squad then any manager we'd hire would realistically 'be a waste of time'. I don't get the pessimism, like are you already at the point where you almost hope we'd lose so he gets the sack? That is so weird to me.

Absolutely agree. Anyone can see that we need patience and there will be ups and downs this season. I, for one, am still enjoying watching United as they are now much more than how we were under Mou or LVG. Ole is trying to do a lot of things at once: clear the deadwood, bring through the youth, raise the professional standards of the players, play according to the United ethos to name but a few. There will inevitably be good days and less good days. The Wolves and Palace games were games we could easily have won on another day and there is generally progress on view. I hope gets the time he needs and I think he'll be successful.

If we'd scored the penalty we'd have won. Simple. Certain decisions made life a bit harder too. We were shite, but still good enough to win that game. Dont forget, playing shit and winning is the mark of champions so its raid.
There is simply no way of knowing that. We might have lost anyway, like we did despite equalising.

well, aren't you a fecking sunshine

Martial is out and Ole said there was no need to buy a Lukaku replacement because we have Geenwood, time to put your money where your mouth is. I'd obviously like to see Gomes or even Pereira in the #10 but it'll be Lingard, and I hope the fact McTominay has been poor in the first 3 games doesn't see him dropped for Rigor Mortic, at least wait until Fred is fully fit before trying a different partner with Pogba.

    Has it been confirmed?

I cannot see where our next win will come from. We huff we puff and we get stung. Then heads drop.

C/w the same fixtures from last season, Man Utd currently have 2 more points.
Last season this was a draw. Therefore it's a real opportunity for the team. If Martial is missing it will be a big blow, but you imagine Rashford will go up top, perhaps James to the left, Greenwood to the right.

I felt the Crystal Palace game was perfect for Gomes to start - a home match early in the season after 2 good performances. This I don't feel the same about, because it's an away match and the team has just suffered a first loss so is under a bit of pressure.

I wonder if the lesser-spotted Fred will feature?

Despite them being the home side, i see absolutely no reason why Southampton wouldn't apply the same tactics as Wolves and Palace. Defend deep and in numbers, and you're going to cause united problems. In fact, i see no reason why all but maybe Liverpool and City wouldn't apply these tactics against us. It's a potent weapon to use against United.

Despite all that, i'll tentatively go with a 1-0 win.

We’ll win this one convincingly with everyone saying we were just unlucky against Wolves and Palace, only to come crashing down to earth losing at home against Leicester after the international break.

    Preach on, mate. Agreed.

Can’t see a win here, we would have to score first. An optimistic 2-2 draw seems right.

Would love to see this. Mix of experience and youth. Pace upfront. Give Fred a shot to see how he does next to Mctominay. Williams will never get a start but I've added him for shits and giggles. Tuanzabe could do with a start since Southampton aren't a major threat. Not gonna happen like but nice to looks at.

There are other clubs you can go and be a "fan" off.

It’s not about the results, since ending up in second place or 17th its the same for me. Its quite obvious we can’t challenge for titles, but what I want to see is steady progress that shows that we are going in the right direction.

So far all the “Ole needs more time” statements are based on faith, nobody can actually point out one thing we are clearly better than before he arrived besides “running a lot” which is debatable too.

IMO we are just wasting time with Ole, he is no where near as good as needed and this season can hurt us badly for next seasons.

Agree with this, apart from the back line.

We need to get Pogba playing further forward too - unless he's playing alongside a world class holding cm there's no point him being that deep.

I just hate typing Youngs name in

You don't care if we come in second place or 17th but want to see steady progress? What the steady progress of winning the league immediately or else you throw a fit because even if we came second that wouldn't prove anything its as good as 17th... This view is pretty weird to me.

It is not that HE needs more time, it is that there needs to be better interpretation of time in it self. I do think we should be getting more out time, clearly. We use ages to make decisions and they are very random. It is much better to use the time to build some kind of blueprint to follow, then things will speed up down the road. I do think as fans we need to change our perception and reactions to better handle the ups and downs we'll realistically see at the club for a few years. We're not in a position where a quick fix is even possible. Expecting that is setting ourselves up for failure, not realising the task at hand which is a big one.

The moment we see anyone at the club become complacent, that's when we as fans should react. At the moment I think proper changes are being made inside the club. However, it depends on continuing on the same path and not changing objectives because of trouble. We've been managed horribly and we need our club to be solid in reaching its goals. I think Ed has been far too complacent in his job and if anything he is the one who should be at risk if Ole doesn't work out, he needs to do everything Ole says and give it a real go because if Ole doesn't work I don't want to see Ed blame him and switch his agenda to a new "project".

My thinking is, either this is a real project with a true vision or we're being deceived by Woodward. The truth will reveal itself over time, and is not affected by results on the pitch from game to game. So I guess we can sort of agree to that results don't matter.

What I meat with steady progress is progress in the way we play, I know everyone is sick with comparisons with Klopp and Guardiola but they are clear examples of my point. Guardiola's first season while City didn't get great results you could see the system Guardiola was trying to implement and how it will eventually click, the same situation happened with Klopp two seasons ago, they end up finishing fourth but they where playing great and it was just a matter of time before the results came.

I dont get that feeling with Ole, I get the sense he could be here for 10 years and we will be in the exact situation.

Other than that I pretty much agree with everything on your post, Woodward is clearly overcomplacent, the fact that our goal is top 4 is the better indication of that.

Really big blow losing Tony when he's arguably been our best player. Couldn't give a monkeys about Shaw to be honest, Young can cross at least.

    de Gea
    Wan Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Young
    Matic
    Pereira Pogba
    Mata Rashford James

Romero, Rojo/Jones/Darmian, Tuanzebe, McTominay, Lingard, Gomes, Greenwood

Mata, Young and Pereira on dead balls. Rashford and Pogba fined 2 weeks wages if they go near them.

Hopefully Lingard is dropped for this one and we finally go with a 3 man midfield with Pogba the furthest forward.

Would like to see Williams and Greenwood replace the injured Shaw and Martial. However i guess we will get to see more of deadwood like young and Mata.

The abomination that was Lingard's performance last weekend is going to be interesting tomorrow. There is absolutely no justification for picking him - we have people that can play in his position, even as thin as we are. So if Ole picks him, there's something else to it in my opinion.

My personal view is Lingard represents part of Ole's 'propaganda material'. Ole talks about giving youth a chance and the United way. Lingard represents the latter (for no other reason than being an academy product, but still, he represents United bringing first team regulars through the academy). So for that reason, Ole feels obliged to keep giving him lots of game time.

Which football team do you support, btw?

Would love Gomes to start but I’ve been saying that for quite some time and don’t hold much hope he will. Just as long Lingard & Mata are nowhere near the starting XI.
