If no Fellaini then do we drop Rooney deeper?

Would love a front 3 of RvP, Rooney and Wilson but we have limited midfield options through injuries.

    .....................................maybe Anderson? *Runs for cover*

Steaming for this, hopefully a mouthwatering game and we win of course :)

Falcao with the winner, heard it first here.

If Fellaini isn't involved and if reports about Rafael are true I reckon we'll shift Valencia to the mid role and let Rafael back in the first XI. That wouldn't be too bad.

Your calling other name is so un call for. The way I asked him/her to not watch etc was just tongue in cheek. Even my approach wasn't in a nice way, you have no right to come on here to pour insult. Geez, What world are we living in people can hide behind a computer and foul mouth others. Dwd doesn't need you to help him as he/she's quite capable of speaking his or her mind.

I was not talking to you, I was responding to another poster but you chose to get involved in the conversation, it's not my problem if you got offended.

Furthermore this is a forum and people can reply to whoever, you are now telling me to stop talking to Dwd, I'm not sure why you feel this need to tell posters what they can and cannot do.

So as things stand, Dwd cannot watch the game, he cannot come on here after the game, he must go to bed early tonight.

    I cannot reply to him.

You have some weird control issues.

How times have changed when we are here worrying if Fellaini is fit to play against Southampton  . You just have to love football.

Southampton would be up for this, they have lost too many points recently and they would want to prove a point. They are going to play a very high line in the begining of the game and try to get a goal or two. If we could survive that and may be even do good on the counter, we have a chance. Else, if we are 1-2 goals down, the chances of even getting a point would be hard.

I hope our defence is upto this challenge.

Please, not the 3-5-2, it really does not work. We don't even have Di Maria to inject some pace in that side.

Gotta love Van Gaal's pre-match tactical mind games. Like how he trained in a 3-5-2 vs Hull City only to alter the approach during the match. Really catches the opposition managers off guard at times. 3-5-2 in itself isn't a bad option either, as long as we can grind out 3 points vs decent opposition.

Not the 3-5-2. :( It just invites so much pressure. We can't play it well, especially without Blind.

Don't like monday games and think we're gonna lose, so we'll likely win this.

Why not? It could mean that we are already quite comfortable and put Fletcher on to give him some minutes. :D

True. If we are 2 or 3 up with 10 mins to go, then sure. If we are only a goal up and we bring him on, he seems to add a lot of nervousness to the side, and we struggle to keep possession.

Hopefully we'll be comfortable by the time he probably comes on. Fletch must be due his one-screamer-a-season any day now too

    @redevil2 :lol:

Let's just let it go. I think we will lose, you think we will win. We both want us to win. I don't see what the issue is.

Anyway, I'm off to bed now so let me know how we get on.

    If true then probably
    De gea
    mcNair Smalling Rojo
    Valencia Carrick Herrera Young
    Mata
    Rooney Van Persie
Not bad really. No Di maria is a big miss though, we don't have his pace for the counters.

    If Fellaini's out I'm a bit worried.

    De Gea
    McNair - Smalling - Rojo
    Valencia - Carrick - Herrera - Young
    Mata
    Rooney - RVP

Not sure if this is good enough to win, I think we need Fellaini's strength in the air. Replacing him with McNair makes us weaker IMO.

Out of interest what is our record like on Monday nights? I think we've won our opening day games when they've played on Mondays, but apart from that, my mind has gone worryingly blank.

That's the 3rd consecutive game I've seen tweets stating we had lined with a formation in training and the 1st two we didn't line up that way in the games.

Saints fans on the train to the game really are not sounding positive about their chances, a lot of doom and gloom and "would have liked to face them with a full team"

    Why ? He's hardly irreplaceable.

That team still looks well up for the job. I'm confident once Rooney plays. This is not the united of Fletcher and Cleverly in Midfield 2 for a 352 . We will be fine.

@Empire you're a sh*t stirring specialist. I will give up and I surrender. Say whatever you like man.

    Edit: typo

Is this New Milton near Christchurch ? I used to stay around there.

Think with him, Carrick and Herrera in midfield we'd have the upper hand there. We still have Carrick and Herrera if he's out, but the physical element to counter Wanyama might be lacking. I'll be honest, not too confident if we go 3-5-2, it has not worked so far, despite us winning at the Emirates. We needed lady luck to help out.

    Anything but 3-5-2

Play 5 in goal, 5 in defence, 1 upfront before 3-5-2

No luck, just another day in the office for super Dave.
