Fellaini, Mata and Rooney are having a poor game.

Smalling getting injured was annoying, he seems to have started to improve again and was commanding well, but now it is back to square one.

What really embarrasses me is that whenever a team presses us, it really shows the cowards in our team, the players who just panic and constantly pass the ball backwards or anywhere they can as they don't want the ball. A mixture of being pussies and having limited ability.

It makes me wanna cry because at times with one move, one pass there is a possibility to move things forward but they more often than not, opt for the safe back pass.

yes he would have, on the break we have no one to partner with rooney, valencia and ashley r too back, mata and rvp no pace, fellaini is playing like an amateur.
He wouldn't have because he would have hardly touched the ball. We've hardly had any possession in meaningful areas of the pitch so far.

Barely saw Mata that half. And some people here wanted to get rid of rooney and play Mata in his place :nono:

    De Gea
    Valencia, Evans, Rojo, Young
    Fellaini, Carrick, Herrera
    Januzaj Rooney
    RVP

    Something like that please

    That was brutal.

Arsenal a few weeks ago was bad but if you remember after about 30 minutes we actually started to get our act together, I remember us forcing 4 or 5 corners in a row which seemed to calm us down, and we looked okay from then on.

This first half we've been shocking from the minute Smalling went off, and we were nothing special before that. It's been terrible. Our passing has been rotten, we're panicking every time we have the ball and we just look so slow. There's no pace in our side. Fellaini has been as bad as he was last season.

The only postive is that RVP looks a little brighter and it's still only 1-1. If we can fluke another goal we might be alright!

There is just a huge gap between defense and attack. We struggle to move the ball out of defense, then when we do manage to get the ball into their half, as soon as the move breaks down, it's way too easy for their midfielders to find space to receive an out ball. Mata needs to do more to offer an option to shift the ball out of defense and Fellaini needs to stop rushing forward every time we get the ball, so that he can recover the ball when its cleared and keep the pressure on.

Pelle's movement is killing us, he drops slightly deeper to receive the ball and his distribution has been excellent in this half. When that happens we are all over the place, it's been 45 minutes and i still can't understand who's marking who at the back.

Herrera coming in was the right decision, Southampton's passing is superb and they get easily past him. That leads to no steals in advanced positions and that's why our front three players haven't seen much of the ball. Instead we are forced to drop deep, as predicted, and we can't get the ball out of our half.

All three CBs are having a nightmare tonight, McNair was the worst of them. Still with no security at the back i don't know how the feck we're going to pull this 3-5-2 off in the second half.

Long is getting ahead of Young all the time and yet again we have no one following Pelle in the near post in set pieces. We have to deal with these threats.

We have yet another patched up defence and they're constantly under pressure as we can't keep hold of the ball. Come on United! sort it out in the second half.

So, Fellaini is becoming the scapegoat here? Very predictable.

Scape goat? he's been absolutely terrible, why would he not be criticized? The whole team has been shit, he's just on a higher level of shite.

I remember just after Herrera came on, carrick actually went back to the bench and asked where he is supposed to play. That's poor communication really, the vice captain didn't have an idea whether they'd switch to the back 4 or continue with 3

I mean that 100%. Should not have been signed at all. Hes only here because dithering dave brought him in.
It doesn't matter why he is here. He has been decent this season. He was awful today, but so has been every other player bar Van Persie, De Gea and Smalling. No need to go on individuals when all the team is playing this bad.

Not for me. Januzaj has done nothing for me to feel confident putting him on right now. If I am going to take off Mata, which personally I would rather take off Fellaini because he is just having a mare, I would bring on Falcao and give him a shot. I would put him and RvP up top and drop Rooney back behind the strikers. I would play 4 at the back and put Mata on the left and Herrera on the right in a diamond with Rooney up top and Carrick just in front of CB's. But...i really know nothing.

Sounds like a good idea mate, but I've given up with LVG ditching his beloved three at the back.

With Adnan the thinking was that he's a bit more of a physical player and holds the ball well. Fellaini, as bad as he has been, offers something to combat Wanyama. At the moment he's not doing a good job, but without him I believe our midfield will get flattened.

Would like to see Falcao on, but it would be a huge gamble having three strikers, unless one of them goes off.

It's the players, not the system.

    For eg.

Young on the left - ball goes to him when pressed. 9.9/10 times he cuts in on right and passes square or backwards.
Valencia on the right - Ball goes to him when pressed. 9.9/10 times he squares or passes backwards.

There's no running from midfield so it becomes predictable with no runs in channels. Young and Valencia aren't ambitious enough in their passing to offer a different problem to the opposition, therefore, it's easy to defend against. We rely on Fellaini to physically dominate opposition in games like this, however, have no real answer for when Fellaini himself is dominated, hence, we can't pass out when pressed

I am guessing but seeing how quickly Evans got ready to come on, Smalling was carrying that injury before the game and therefore should not have been in the starting line-up

Think it was more to do with Smalling signalling to the bench when he was in space and we were in no danger - those tend to be more serious injuries if they're not caused by a tackle/impact.

LVG needs to come up with some kind of magic to turn this around and get us the 3 points. We need to win this game.

People complaining about Mata's lack of influence; I just think the classy little fella wanted to distance himself from the whole debacle. Can't blame him really. We're rubbish.

What the feck have they done? If they were playing well then wed be losing. We've been shite on the ball but when they have it, they haven't been creating anything.

That's very easy to say. "If they were better, they'd win." So you've never seen a team play better than another team and still draw? Open your eyes, mate. We're being run off the pitch here.

    Second-half kick-off

Here we go for the second-half, United need a big improvement.
