Typical Caf with so many people assuming out of thin air that Rashford and Cavani won't be available. Ole was only asked about Van de Been, Pogba and Mata in the presser and he said it's unlikely they will feature. He wasn't asked about Rashford or Cavani and you're right in that it was mentioned prior to the Milan game that Rashford likely will be available for the West Ham game.

But it's Redcafe, so why not assume the worst without knowing the truth? :annoyed:
    Out of thin air...

    Sky sports
Anthony Martial needs a hip issue assessing and Marcus Rashford could return from an ankle complaint, but Edinson Cavani is expected to miss out again. Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Juan Mata and Phil Jones remain out.

What's up with Phil Jones, seized solid?

If Everton don't win against Burnley I will say top-4 is almost certain with a win against West Ham tomorrow. I just cant see 2 out of West Ham, Everton, Chelsea or Spurs all catching 6 points or more on us

You can't see catching up 6 points in 9 games!?

We lost an 8 point lead with 6 games to go under Fergie, and we had a much better team back then.

Yeah he says they ( Martial and Rashford) are a DOUBT, doesn't automatically mean they are ruled out. McTominay was also a major doubt for the Chelsea game yet ended up playing. Martial and Shaw were major doubts even an hour before kickoff against City, they played as well. So just because someone is a doubt doesn't necessarily mean they are out.

It's not out of thin air though. You said he hadn't mentioned them.

Good weekend thus far with Everton and Chelsea dropping points. Be a great weekend if a injury hit Man United can grind out the win tomorrow.

Honestly no - not by 2 teams. Because I dont think Everton, West Ham and Spurs are good enough to do it

    Hope you're right.
I never thought Everton were much of a threat to be honest. They always have a woeful home defeat like today in their locker.
Spurs will have to overplay Kane and Son in the Europa too.

Let's hope we can put West Ham away, even with seemingly every striker out.

He hadn't mentioned all of them being definitely ruled out, as was being assumed on here by most. Anyway, we'll see tomorrow if any of them play or not.

Not too confident about this one, unfortunately. Players out, Moyes desperate to do us over, Forwards possibly all out and West Ham solid at the back, West Ham playing to get into the CL places, last minute equaliser, again, and from a set piece, again, in our last game, Antonio back for them?

Could be a low scoring draw or a loss for us. I’d definitely have Hugill on the bench if all 3 forwards are out. Could be his moment.

If we could somehow win this one, I think that’d put us as an almost cert to make CL. Anyone else just expecting a dull draw with no energy? Really hope I’m proven wrong.

I don't buy for a second that our position in the top four is already sealed. This is a big game tomorrow, and real opportunity to put put significant daylight between ourselves and the top 4 chasing pack before going into the international break.

I realy hope Martial has shook off that knock, hes needed, I love this kid Amad, but I would not like to throw him in yet. But if needs must , he got little bit lost in mid week longer game went on. Pogba fit we need as well, whens he back ?
VDB is a strange one, must have got something in training.

A win would put us in a good position for top 4, but I’m not feeling confident. Likely will struggle to score yet again and can see us dropping points. Really hope that isn’t the case!

Wasn't Pogba supposed to come back by now? How long is he out for?

Really hope we capitalise on other teams dropping points today, but most likely will be another 0-0 draw.

If Martial, Rashford and Cavani are all doubtful/not fully fit, then surely we'll be seeing a very youthful front 3 of James-Greenwood-Diallo? Alternative is Diallo on the bench, and Bruno plays as a false 9.

I doubt it though, hence why I think 5 at the back is more likely.

    Henderson

    AWB Bailly Lindelof Maguire Shaw

    Fred McSauce
    Bruno

    James Greenwood

He was meant to back since last week as they thought it was a grade 1 thigh strain (2 to 3 weeks recovery)

If its a Grade 2 strain it's up to 2 months recovering time so looking at Brighton or Spurs in early April before he returns.

Damn. He seems an injury prone player, has there been one season where he's not out for months

Win this and we’re looking very good for top 4 all of a sudden.

It’d also move us to about 10/1 to finish outside the top 4 I presume, so I’ll Chuck a tenner on at that point to ease the pressure

Reading this , I think injury wise the only thing we can all agree on is Phil Jones is injured and won’t feature.

Tbf, this is only the second season. He was an ever-present from 2016-18, and Mourinho simply froze him out in 2018-19.

    Anyone think Diallo might start?
Who are we going to play up top? 5 at the back maybe, really can't work it out.

He might have to depending on injuries

Greenwood has had a very ‘meh’ season. Surely he’s due a big one.

Depends if Rashford is fit or not. I really can’t see us going 5atb with Greenwood and James upfront, at least I’m hoping we don’t.

He has to start if Rashford isn’t back, we don’t have any other options. It’s one of those two + Greenwood and James.

DJ on the left with Greenwood down the middle and Amad on the right would be good

Just seems a massive gamble to start Diallo against a robust outfit such as West Ham.
Would be good to go at them with pace though, a front three of James, Diallo and Greenwood would run rings round most defensive units, even more so against Dawson et al...

It’s either a 4-2-3-1 with Amad on the right, OR... He could go like this:

    Henderson
    Lindelof - Maguire - Bailly/Shaw
    Wan Bissaka - McTominay - Fred - Shaw/Telles
    Fernandes
    James - Greenwood
    :nervous:

Will it be cautious Ole again or the swashbuckling Ole...

Ole said in the presser he hopes to have back before the International break. Same for Van de Beek.
