why? He's strolling about the pitch, giving the ball away very often and playing absolutely dreadfully almost every time we've seen him. He's playing like he doesn't want to be here.
He's not the only one, as shit as he is that was was unnecessary.

You can blame the manager all you want. This one, next one, whoever. But how can Casemiro miss that chance that badly. At some point the players have to do the basics.

He can change tactics but if the players can't or won't carry them out, he's helpless to change anything.
These last couple of games reminds me of the games against Brentford and Palace at the end of last season. They were winning every duel out there, we could not produce any good things at all. We were dominated from start to finish.
Our next game was Arsenal and we thought that we were doomed. Then Erik made some tactical changes and we were suddenly much tighter and cohesive when defending as a team. Winning the ball back higher and could offer a different threat upfront.
We were not great but it was a close game right through. Looking just as good as Arsenal. These players we have can play so much better than this, they just need the right setup, tactics, directions. If Amorim is not adapting and learning quick here we might be looking at a very nervous relegation fight.

Unpopular opinion. Amorim is Deja Vu like when we were under Moyes, LVG, Jose, Ole, ETH where they need a new squad of players and few hundred millions to play their football. Meanwhile other clubs don't need this at all!
So far it is a disaster changing system midseason. It might work out after signing 5-6 players. Nobody can say with any certainty of course.

Why does it feel like, literally every team we have faced for a few years now, work much harder than us? We are losing every 50:50 and every 2nd ball.
Lack of ability is acceptable for me but lack of effort is criminal

If he's not doing his job then why not? How long can fans endure being t bagged by these bunch of thieves? We are on relegation form but somehow we expect the local support to just clap like lemmings

Is Zirkzee to blame for this whole collapse? He’s part of the team who is struggling for confidence. So, it’s alright now to bully then? We teach our children not to bully, but it’s alright for us adults to jeer and bully a young man who’s still finding his feet? This is football mate. What if Zirkzee was your young boy? Would it been ok to single him out? Those matchgoing fans always have a choice, they knew exactly what kind of state our club is in. Yet, they still renewed their season ticket and bought the tickets to see this game.

Horrendous half of football. Honestly felt like one of those games where we got hammered by Liverpool or City. To be fair the Zirkzee/Mainoo switch seems to have made some difference.

Having to start with this midfield in 2024 is horrific.

We’ve been predictably awful all over the pitch.
I can't comprehend why Amorim thought it was an acceptable pairing for this game.
Is he trying to make some sort of statement for investment?

The only viable alternatives were Mainoo, maybe Collymore, and Maz at a stretch but that would risk our CBs even more.
The club is fecked from a personnel perspective.

why? He's strolling about the pitch, giving the ball away and playing absolutely dreadfully almost every time we've seen him.

I'm beginning to think Madrid fans have the right idea when it comes to players not performing. They give their players pelters and look how much they win.

You have identified the problem, and the root of the problem in your post.

Moyes then LVG, then Jose, then Ole, then ETH….

You’re playing contrasting styles each time. You’re going from pragmatic football to possession to counter attacking. The only seamless transition was Jose to Ole really.

Look at our rivals. Pellegrini to Pep. Klopp to Slot. Or Chelsea bringing in three managers who played 5 at the back, Conte, Sarri and then Tuchel (minus Lampard in the middle).

But hopefully now the club is understanding that doing this just leads to wasting billions and doesn’t deliver results. Amorim has a clear philosophy, whenever he may move on, whether it is in a year or 10 years, the club needs to continue with that same philosophy.

Should the manager not be adaptable and change based on the players he has available???
If he doesn’t he’ll be gone, he has no status in the EPL and losing is becoming far too easy for him to accept, we should get rid of him if he doesn’t get 6 points from next 4 EPL games and go get Iraola from Bournemouth. He plays 433 and thats what we need. Ruben will be sacked if he oversees another 2 loses in 3 or 4 PL games

He just loooks lost in the EPL we are not playing an offensive 3421 system, so he’s already compromised his principles we are playing Narrow 5221 with no pace on the counter so a complete blunt offensive unit.

To put this in perspective this will be his 8th PL game for 7 PL points and Liverpool will be 9 for 7. That’s 0.77 points per game or 29.88 over a whole season.

This experiment has failed you can’t have any coach of United getting 1 point or less per game. ETH was running at 1.37 points per game this season which is 52 points and probably 10th.and he was sacked, this is far worse. SJR will not give Amorim much more time, he’ll be sacked by Feb 1st

Why blame and whistle a young lad who joined us just this season? What if your young son was playing for United and he gets substituted after 30 minutes and the crowd was cheering and whistling him off the pitch? At least try and put things in perspective. We’re talking about a young lad who right now feels devastated.
Yes it's got to hurt don't disagree with that but this was always going to get toxic. These bunch of players do not give 110% and that is the minimum expected of any player. If united get dragged into a fight at the bottom you think fans will care how players feel? This is professional sport it is brutal.

Boo Zirkzee all you want, but I'll never get over the loyal fans giving Moyes a standing ovation for being shite.
    Different times tbh
We were a vastly successful team then
The manager had told the fans to get behind Moyes

I thought we played rather positively at times. Newcastle got fortunate bounces at the right time and took advantage of it, however, we've controlled the game and was just a little unlucky. It really is fine margins in this game.

Martinez has been absolutely shocking as he was the last game but we boo a lad who just arrived into the team. Embarrassing behaviour....
Let's see how the fans would react if Martinez gets subbed

Imagine working for the club and having to listen to Ratcliffe talking about cuts to bonuses because the club is losing money while that silly old twat has sanctioned £200m of signings that have barely improved us, and over £20m for sacking people

our performance was so bad the handball for the 2nd goal will just get glossed over
Always happens with decisions against us. Everyone just says ah they're shit so it doesn't matter.

It makes it very easy for the refs and VAR to continually play against us. And they do it constantly which is why as a shit team we are even more fecked

Would that be your response if you were caught for speeding? Teo years ago there was a different speed limit?

It’s a hand ball. Easy as that. Terrible by VAR. Again!
Forgive me for being uneducated. I thought the rule was above shirt sleeve doesn’t count. Guess that is the old? What is new definition?

These are EtH players, bought to play his shit system. Anyone half decent got the football coached out of them by him and his cronies. It's gonna take time and a few transfer windows I reckon.
Agreed but I think Amorim is getting away with some off decisions. Maz at right centre back was working, amad at right wing back. Not sure why he juggled it around. Play the players where they perform for now.

I don't want to see Casemiro and Eriksen in the midfield, or anywhere else for that matter. Why not give opportunities to the youth? Ultimately, we are getting thrashed anyway.

Still got the inevitable immediate post halftime goal and direct corner goal to go yet, with a scruffy Rashford consolation in the 85th minute.

We have a habit of coming out after the break still half asleep. Concede a cheap third early on and our hopes, however slim, evaporate entirely.

I don't like, but if players aren't digging each other out for pretty woeful.and basic errors and attitude, then the fans might as well.
