Did you watch the Everton game? The Barcelona game?
It’s not about wanting a loss, it’s about expecting a loss.
    The players are shot.

That is a completely different thing. I personally don't see us getting anything from that game either, but some people here really expect that we should cheer for City on Wednesday, that's the problem
As long as we are in it, we must go for a win, and thank God that Ole thinks the same

The only good thing about the Everton-game is that I believe every single player entering the pitch tomorrow will run their socks off. Anyone not doing that can say goodbye to their United-career regardless of what they have done Before.

And I actually think it will make City nervous - they know a draw probably will cost them the title.

Having said that - if City keep their cool, they will probably win

    My team:

DDG - VNL, Smalling, Jones - Shaw, McT, Herrera, Pogba, Dalot - Rashford, Sanchez

I Think this could be a Sanchez-game...and at least he works hard

Expect to see Pogba strolling around, then.

I think we will see a performance here, but not the result. If we got a point and the players showed a bit of grit and won the last three games, I think we would finish 4th. But I am resigned to losing this game tomorrow and won't be too disappointed with the result as long as I see 100% more effort than I did on Sunday. Martial has blown his chance with his recent starts so I would want us to just go with Sanchez now and see what he can do. I'd like to see what Alexis is made of for the remaining games as he is a player with question marks over whether he'll be here next season. If he isn't going to play he has no chance to hit his Arsenal heights here. I know it's likely that he just isn't going to work out, but I think we'd regret it a little if we fail to give him some of the remaining fixtures and sold him, only for him to finally get over his injury woes and kick on. I hope Herrera is back, we need the players who are going to show the most fight.

    de Gea
    Dalot Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    McTominay
    Herrera Pogba
    Sanchez
    Lukaku Rashford

Again, I think we'll see the effort but City's quality will show. If we're close to our best but so are City, there's only one winner.

    United 1-3 City.

How is that a good thing?

I can forgive a player one match like Everton - but if Pogba or anyone else performs anywhere near that level again, then clearly they should go regardless of potential or quality

I'd say that's quite generous. You're saying one match when it's actually well into double figures. Everton was just the cherry on a very big shit cake. They're out of chances now for me.

    10:00KEY EVENT
Solskjaer asked if he's the right man for the job
    Here’s his reply:

Well I would like to say yes but it’s not down to me to say that I’m confident in my team and myself to take this challenge on, it’s a big challenge and when I came in here I said I’m gonna enjoy every single second I don’t like losing but it’s a challenge when you go through bad results, this is the way we’re gonna do it and plan ahead.

    10:03
    On Everton
A day or so to process what happened on Sunday, what are your thoughts and feelings?

That’s the point how do we go forward that’s what we’ve got to focus on have to look back and reflect on what happened that was one of two really bad games since I come, that and the FA Cup game against Wolves, those are the two we were no where near standards, bounce back and look forward to two great games to come into, this is the main focus, one of the best teams in the opportunity, a local derby, we’ve got to be ready.

Have you been able to figure why that performance happened?

Yeah, of course we’ve been here now for about four months and it’s been a great four months, learning all the time, still with the same focus of thinking and planning forward, how do we get back to where Manchester United wanna be, the identity and the standards, professionalism we’ve set and games like the Everton one happens and the response has to be there, you have to try and provoke or inspire a reaction and we haven’t had time to work on the pitch because you need recovery at this stage of the season so it’s about changing mindsets and making sure heads are ready.

    10:04
    On the players
People think there have to big decisions over personnel are you the right man to make those decisions.

I would like to think so, I like all these boys I love them but I’ve got to manage for the club and I’m managing the club and the players and I’ve got to put all my effort into making sure we do what is right for the club.

    10:05
    On players attitude
When you see a performance like that, have you made a decision on certain players and their attitude and the way they go about their business?

Of course, you learn about players and now is not the time to talk about making wholesale changes in the squad that’s been doing so great, City and Liverpool have taken more points than us in the last 18 games and that’s it, we were were we were when we came in, really gave it a go, and you can see loads of Manchester United standards, the DNA in these players, you avev to get players in and some players will go out.

    10:07
    On City
With it being City and the challenge they pose how do you get everyone right? What kind of challenge are you expecting?

That’s the best game we could ask for with players hurt as they definitely were, we had a meeting after the game and all the players were definitely definitely disappointed but really really hurt by that performance and City game is the perfect one, there’s no hiding place on the pitch and the fans will back you if you give that effort against a City side that’s been very very good, we have got to turn up.

We gotta be ready for the press, for their pressing so we gotta defend well, gotta be ready for your aggression, they will snap at your heels and ankles and and kick you, they won’t allow us easy counter attacking, there will be fouls, absolutely no doubt about it and when you watch those games they commit so many players forward.

    0:07
    Reaction from the players

What reaction have you seen to give you encouragement?

We focus on Wednesday and sure we’ll get a response, you don’t punish them as in run up to the mountains and back, we believe in them, these players know they let themselves down as individual, as a team, me as well, I’m in charge and I’m the one giving instructions how we’re gonna play and it’s my duty to get them performing better than that and I’m sure we’ll get a response.

    10:09
    The perception of the club
How would you describe the face of the club right now?

There’s always a crisis at Manchester United whenever you lose a game or two, City and Liverpool are two teams who’ve taken more points in last 18 games, that’s great, the boys have done fantastic, we don’t enjoy losing games, we’ve lost three out of the last five league games, that’s a bit too many but that’s football. You see Chelsea-Burnley, Arsenal-Palace but the way we lost at Everton that was the lowest we have been and was the worst performance.

    10:28
Solskjaer happy with squad boost ahead of the derby
He’s excited to have Shaw back in contention after his suspension.

Luke’s been very good,” Solskjaer told MUTV.

He’s disappointed that he’s missed the three games that he has. He knows he has to improve on that. Some of his yellow cards weren’t yellow cards but some of them are his fault where he’s taken the easy option. We’ve spoken about that.

“It’ll be great to have him back because, both defensively and in attack, he’s been one of our best players.”

Not liking all this talk from the club about a reaction from the Everton farce; fear that the players will actually turn-up to this one and get something out of it :nono:

we'll probably draw this then lose to chelsea, missing out on top 4 as well as handing the title to liverpool

I reckon it will be 1-1 but I'm backing us at 35/1! Worth a quid with the RedBet offer, especially as you get money not free bets if (WHEN!) we win!

We can't possibly be as bad as we were against Everton.

Problem is City are way better than Everton

What odds we win tomorrow night, hand Liverpool the title and then finish 5th?

The travesty on Sunday has me caring less about Liverpool and more about well being of our club.

Go ahead and drop the overpaid primadonnas and replace them with a bunch of young and hungry academy grads for the remainder of the season. The results are immaterial at this point in proceedings anyway.

I would be all in favour of that and most importantly it would make exactly the right statement to our prima donnas.
Ole needs to make things crystal clear to them.
Manchester United is far far bigger than you and if you don't like it then off you go.

What odds we win tomorrow night, hand Liverpool the title and then finish 5th?
The odds of Utd winning tomorrow are 6/1, if you combine that in a treble with Liverpool winning the title and Utd finishing 5th then the odds would probably be around 20/1.

Point of interest, when was the last time Utd were 6/1 to win at home?

6/1. That can be the result tomorrow for City not odds. :D

We’ll try harder and run around a lot for 20 minutes or until City score and then they will outclass us. We look physically and mentally finished for the season so 3-0 to City. I don’t expect us to get more than 4-5 points between now and end of the season.

Agree. I think it's going to be a sobering experience seeing just how far behind them we are.

Why the f***ing focus on Pogba. They ALL PLAYED CRAP!!!!

I actually do think there will be a reaction tomorrow, and the players will enjoy the game. I can see us doing ok, we may even turn them over you know.

If we do win, then I would be pretty confident for the remaining games.

It's going to be quite a strange experience being terrified every time we attack them and relived when they're laying siege to our goal.

I think this could be the worst set of predictions ever !
    • 24% Man Utd 0:5 Man City
    • 17% Man Utd 0:3 Man City
    • 11% Man Utd 1:3 Man City
    • 11% Man Utd 0:4 Man City
    • 10% Man Utd 0:2 Man City

Confidence in our team is VERY low.
Under Jose, you always knew that no matter how bed we played, we could restrict a loss in the next match to 1 or 2 goals. But under Ole, due to a more attacking style of play, we are fully capable of losing by 5 goals.

I remember last season, when we played MCFC, away. We beat them 3-2. The very next game, we played a mid-table team and lost.
This team is incapable of getting any kind of consistency.
We could beat MCFC tomorrow, but we are then capable of getting beaten in our next match.
