If I had been a City-fan, I would have been worried at the idea of John Stones vs Zlatan - esp in the air.
To be fair, everyone should be worried about their CB vs Zlatan in the air. The man is 6 foot 5. Taller than most CBs.

Why are so many people expecting half the team to be missing? For me the only doubtful ones are Valencia (jetlag) and Henrik (bruising). Shaw has returned to Carrington and is training and Felliani seems fine. I'm relieved Aguero will be missing. He tends to score against us and runs us ragged with his movement. So are we expecting Nolito to play upfront?

Who should play instead of a jetlagged Valencia if he is left out? TFM too inexperienced, and Darmian not good enough.

Could use Bailly there, but that means a rusty Smalling as CB.

Valencia will play, he's a machine - and he's one of Mourinho's soldiers.
Shaw is also a certainty, and I'm hopeful Micki and Fellaini will be primed to go.

For me, the two Manchester clubs + Chelsea will slug it out for the title, so this game will give us a good indicator on where the two teams stand. I hope we'll be pro-active without the ball and not allow their midfield to develop a rhythm. Without Aguero, only Sterling is their threat in behind. Let's make the pitch small and compact and use our greater height and power to nick possession in key areas from then we can release our forwards.

I can see Jose risking Valencia or giving him every chance of playing. Really can't see Darmian playing with no pre season under him. Darmian vs Sterling would give everyone a bag of nerves. Worse comes to worse Phil Jones will play at rightback.

I can already see it. I see them having the majority of possession but I can see us carving them open too, probably on the break. We now have personality and presence through the spine of our team. Keep Silva quiet and we should do well. However, I think it'll be a tight game and both teams would'nt be overly dissappointed with a draw. I think they are there for the taking with Aguero being out and a draw would be a bad result for us considering this.

Inexperience ahead of not good enough every day of the week.

Likely to see Jones at RB, hes played there before and under SAF Jose will know this obviously, Darmian isnt naturally a Jose player and offers next to nothing going forwards. I would love to see TFM start but its a bit too big of a risk for Jose.

Smalling tends to get a bit flustered in games like this so I cant see him starting, it will be Bailly-Blind in the back line, RB the only contentious position. It will mostly be the same and Fellaini will definitely start.

Looking forward to it but also anxious as it feels as though Pep will put out an unpredictable system and players, whereas some smaller teams may be able to bruise their way to an unexpected victory, Pep has Joses number really, we could be in for an utter battering if Jose doesnt use our strengths in attack and sits back.

We don't know what to expect, which makes the game the uncertain unknown unfactor, to be honest pep had everyone's number with that Barcelona team he had, we will see with this team. With Bayern he never quiet had that, so we will see

Hmmm his Bayern team were a force to be reckoned with, once youve beaten him once he figures it out and teaches you a lesson, It happened many times.

Id like to know what teams outplayed his Bayern and won.

His Bayern team were good, they never won a CL, Bayern were a force in their own domestic league, never quiet got it right in the CL has Real Madrid blitzed his Bayern team. So teams did figure out his way of playing, when you have someone like messi at Barcelona its pretty damn hard to stop them. No one will look back at pep's Bayern side and say yeah. It was Madrid's counter attacking and well organised plan that always left pep's Bayern in pieces, when sides played at pace against that Bayern side they would be found in europe, has Madrid showed

Is the head to head stat from the app accurate? Do they have it the other way around? They have all the results if I scroll down but I can't bother.

Rashford simply has to start. I can't see City stopping us from scoring if he is on the pitch for 90 minutes.

I hope Clattenburg has one of his good days on the job for this one. Would be a shame if he decides to Clattenburg the derby.

I hope Shaw is fit for this one. With reports of Fellaini being OK too, only players unavailable will be Mkhi and Valencia. Even with Valencia, not sure if he doesn't train and straightaway plays match, will it be a huge issue. He is experienced enough to cope as long as he knows what Mourinho expects of him. We also said Rojo and Romero are returning late but City too have Zabaleta and Otamendi returning same time and they are first team players unlike our Argentine duo.

I've been thinking about this game long and hard, and I've come to the conclusion that this will be a low-scoring affair. Probably 0-0. Neither manager will want to give anything away, both teams will be well organised and defensively resolute. Chances will be few and far between.

José's philosophy seems to be 'first, thou shalt not lose'. And that's exactly what'll happen; whilst Pep continues to fanny around with fancy formations and this 'inverted full backs' and 'false 9' bullshit. In the end, it'll all cancel out and end scoreless.

I'd be disappointed if we don't win this, not only is Aguero out but I think we've the better first team and squad now. City's original core of Toure, Silva, Konpany and Aguero isn't anywhere close to what it was and I even think Silva isn't what he was.

The only time I think LVG earned his wages are against the big teams. I'll never forget our 4-2 at OT a couple of seasons ago where we just outplayed City in every department.

Hopefully we don't go too compact and invite them on too much

No way this game gonna be scoreless. United will definitely score on Saturday.

Only if there is enough pace and movement in this team to give city problems, when Bayern faced Madrid in 2014 during pep's first season, what pep could not handle is the counter attacking Madrid done with ronaldo and bale ripping his Bayern side to shreds on the break, giving Pep the messi treatment in what ronaldo and bale cooked up. So if by the time we go into the 70th minute with no mata and rooney on the pitch, with Pogba, Mkh, martial and rashford giving us the mobility to counter balance rooney or zlataen's more ball to feet style of play, we could give them problems. I feel if Martial returns to form like last season, with Pogba, Mkh and rashford providing the runs to help Zlaten on the pitch and provide him the service we could score, it all depends on how much pace we have in this team, rashford has proven he is a man for the big games and could be huge for our counter attacking ability jose loves, we have quiet unique individuals who can literally be a one man show on the pitch.

I'm assuming that's Premier League games as that totals 38, and yes in that case it's the wrong way around as United have 20 wins to City's 11.
Yep, 38 sounds fine - it's the wins that I thought were wrong. Cheers!

Interesting spin. I'd be keen to see what Scholesy has actually said.

“You hear about people saying English football’s the best football there is around,” Scholes comments. “I think Spain’s by far the best league. Germany has better teams. In Italy probably the strength in depth isn’t great. They talk about Italy being a bad league but I don’t think English people look at it.”

Scholes also believes the best players in the world - with the exception of three, who all play for Manchester City - all ply their trade in other leagues.

“There needs to be a real step up in quality in England. Other than Sergio Agüero, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva, we don’t have the best players. All the best players are in other countries.

Love Scholes the player, hate Scholes the pundit, he's an absolute cnut. I'm sure if Ryan Giggs got the managerial job for us he would have a different tune.

Days out from the derby and he's pumping up city. Taking the absolute piss claiming those three are the only good players in the league.

He has an article about it on the Guardian website. It's pretty dull, standard stuff ie. "Spain, Germany and Italy have better teams than us" and "Juventus are better than every English team." Yeah we know. I'm tired of hearing from him to be honest. I don't take much stock in what he has to say. I'd link the article but I'm on my phone, it's a load of shite anyway.

“The Spanish league’s the best by far if you’re judging on the European competitions. In the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the Europa League in 2015–16, they had six of the 16 teams. Nearly half of them. The Premier League had just two.

Peak david silva fair enough current david silva, behave.

Pundits sometimes feel by expressing a non-obvious or expected view they will be well regarded but he just comes across as an idiot if he thinks those three are the best players in the league. Hazard on pomp is the best player in the league, alexis sanchez is also better than silva, and on form ozil beats them narrowly in my opinion too. Additionally de gea obviously.

He's not wrong. The PL was behind the other leagues last season. We will see how it looks in a few years.

Same thing he always says. Man Utd are rubbish now and so is the league. If only he and his pals were still playing it would be so different. 'In my day.....' springs to mind. He'll be a nightmare when he's older.

    De Gea
    Darmian - Blind - Baily - Shaw
    Schneidrlin - Pogba
    Lingard - Mhkhkh - Martial
    Ibra

Darmian will deliver his best performance in a United shirt, and Rooney's time as a starter has come to an end.
