Be interesting to see how we set up for this.... might tell a lot about Mourinho and his approach to these games....wouldn't be surprised to see a front 6 of

    ------------Fellaini--------Schneiderlein---------
    Mhiki----------------Pogba---------------Rooney
    --------------------------Zlatan-------------------------

    Injury permitting

Rashford/Martial would be a much better option at pinning Zabaletta back tho

I'm expecting Lingard or Rashfrod ahead of Mata with the rest unchanged.

If Fellaini is unfit I reckon Herrera will step in.

    Aguero out for them
Mkhitaryan, Fellaini & Shaw all doubtful for us

Gonna be a damp squid this one at this rate

Ibrahimovic, Martial, Rooney, Mata, Pogba, De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling, Nolito. They'd still be a lot of top players on display, although I do think Fellaini and Shaw will play. Not sure about Mkhitaryan, though.

The Armenian FA said he has heavy bruising that will leave him out for 7-10 days. Will definitely miss the Armenia qualifier this week.

No they didn't. They said he has an injury that can take up to 7-10 days to heal.

Inevitable that one or two players will be absent from a game like this, there will still be more than enough quality available to both squads. No excuses and I really fancy United for this!

So potentially our two best fullbacks are out, Fellaini who has been very good is out and Mkhitryan who could be essential due to his quick feet in dealing with the pressing of City could also be out.

    Nice.

    so far possible drop outs.

    Mikhi
    Shaw
    Valencia
    Fellani
    Bailly?

Rojo and Romero should also be ruled out.

    Wednesday 7 September
    Venezuela v Argentina 00:30 - Rojo, Romero
    Peru v Ecuador 03:15 - Valencia

If Shaw is out, Rojo would've been marked to replace him. That's not going to happen. Just hope De Gea doesn't get injured because we don't have Romero too.

So if Valencia and Rojo also miss out, we have:

    deGea
    Darmian Smalling Jones Blind
    Carrick Pogba
    Mata Rooney Martial
    Zlatan
Jeez.. I hope Shaw plays. I don't want to see Calamity Jones in the line up in a big game.

Every time I think of the City match I'm nervous, thinking how are we going to cope with their attack or midfield. Then I remember we have Pogba and Zlatan, then all is well with the world

Yeah coz zlatan is going to help us coping with their attack or midfield!

Say what you want about LVG. I hardly felt nervous against EPL top teams under him.

Hopefully, jose will give us the same feeling.

Put Fosu-Mensah on for Blind (possibly swap TFM and Darmian) and Blind for Jones.

Ah, thought TFM was still recovering from injury as I hadn't seen him in the first team training pictures. Either him or Axel Tuanzebe would be fine.

    Big Sam:

“He’s done exceptionally well given the games he’s played, but he didn’t feel comfortable so the wise thing to do was send him back to United.

“He wasn’t starting (against Slovakia) anyway. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t okay for United’s next game.”

Is it too much to expect Valencia to come back and play? I'm sure City wouldn't have left out Aguero if he was eligible.

Anyone feeling rather comfortable ahead of this game? I think we'll win this by two goals. :)

    What the hell

I've just realised this game is on a Saturday, I'm fecking working Saturday that's absolute BS, this should be one of the games on Super Sunday.

    I'll miss it now.....furious.

Agreed. Should be the Sunday 4pm game

    Hate the early Saturday matches

First time for a couple of years where I have felt comfortable with the team and that we can actually compete, so looking forward to the game.

If Rooney starts, we'll lose. We can't afford to go up against a team that will press like City with him in such a crucial position giving away possession 5-6 times every 45 minutes. They will absolutely rip us through the middle.

If I had been a City-fan, I would have been worried at the idea of John Stones vs Zlatan - esp in the air.
