Why don't all the South American games take place on Tuesday latest? To give their European players a chance on the weekend games.
And whoever decided this game should be an early kick off on a Saturday after internationals needs a slap.
I dont think CONMEBOL(LOX) - the South American Football Federation, gives a rats arse about european leagues & clubs, Red.
On your understandable annoyance of lunchtime kick-off's; these type of games (same as with our Pool games & Rangers vs Celtic games) used to always be played at lunchtime because the cops think both sets of fans wont have time to get pissed-up & it narrows the potential for trouble.
It's pure nonsense though - fan's just get up earlier than they normally would on matchday (before dawn with many) & get on the sauce, or just stay up partying from the night before.
Another reason could be, that the Prem is trying to maximise global viewership with this kick-off time; but it must be the asian market they're targeting - because they're around 7 hours ahead of GMT (perfect time for that region), whilst the States is 5-8 hours behind GMT - depending on what coast you live on.
Total bummer if you're stateside & you're not out on a session the night before. They should be though - as it's cracking way to end a night out.
I used to watch United's Prem games in the pub at 2am or so, when i lived in New Zealand & watch United's Champions League games in a railway station cafe at around 6am (when the game wasnt on Sky - no red button in those days), which was just around the corner from where i worked - total pain in the bollox not havin a few bevvies in ya though, but i took a day off the odd time & went on an early-morn lash.
Feck it - i was on a working holiday visa, so it would have been rude not too!
