No I am not jesting, I just have this feeling that he will see his contract out, if they were going to sack him they would've done already, BUT lose the next 2 and the FA Cup replay, this could be the straw to break the camels back.
OK, still hope you're wrong, but you did write "just" when you meant "jest" in the original comment … sorry mate I know it's bad form to point out mishtafes

If we play the right midfielders I think we can take this. Schweini for Fellaini alone will make a world of difference, and Lingard really needs to be benched after contributing zero for a run of games now.

I'd also prefer to see Schweini in a number 10 instead of Herera because I reckon he can pull the strings better.

    Schneiderlin + Carrick

    Schweini
    Mata Martial Depay

no "fecking" necessary. if we had even played for a goal at liverpool, this wouldn't be an issue. we had no intent of scoring a goal last week.

Basically this is a repeat of what happened in the CL, with PSV and Wolfsburg.
In the home game against PSV, we had no intention of scoring.
This meant that when we arrived at the Wolfsburg game, we had to win. Because we were chasing the game so hard, we left gaps at the back and lost 4-2.

Our problem was worse than having any intent to score though. We couldn't even get out of our third with Liverpool's high press because our midfield was basically non existent.

Can't believe there are still people in this thread predicting we'll go through.

It's all I can do to force myself to watch it, I struggle to remember a match I was more certain we'd lose.

We had 1 shot on target. LFC had 8 shots on target.
So, we did get into their half and did take shots on goal. Just not great shots.

I'm trying to temper my expectations and I'm clinging to the hope that, whatever the result, the atmosphere in the ground will be epic.

But if we are to have any chance whatsoever of progressing, we absolutely must score first.

Liverpool had twice as many shots as us, 69% posession and played in our third far more than we played in theirs. My point is that we didn't control midfield to begin with, let alone get in a position to show a threat in their third. We lost most 50:50's and rarely played it out of position to our threatening attackers.

That, and the fact that Rashford/Mata are a notch or two below Coutinho/Sturridge/Firminho.

Bought tickets for this before the first leg. Was massively regretting it after that shower of shite performance in the first leg but starting to look forward to it now. It's Liverpool after all.

To ensure you are ready for all eventualities - the chances of some are more than others - take a big placard which says:
    "To LVG,

    Kindly feck off.

    Yours truly,

    Redcafe"

    :)

Score first? If they score, we are out. Do you see us scoring 4?

anything is possible with mignolet in goal :p
Not when the opposing team is us coached by LVG. To score 4 we need to have those many shots on goal. Let alone on goal, we need to take 4 shots for that. I don't see it personally.

Hoping it will be like the UCL game against Olympiakos under Moyes; we somehow lost the first leg 2-0, but battered them at Old Trafford and went through on aggregate. 40 year old Ryan Giggs was MOTM that night.

    It's a funny old game.

    Don't this to yourself mate!

True, hard to see us scoring four. But if we do score first, I can see Liverpool going into their shell trying to protect what they have. Scoring first could change the whole dynamic of the tie. If we're 1-0 up with 15 minutes to go, I'd take that.

pretty sure RVP was the MOTM, no?

Does anyone think there will be a scoreline that would result in LVG's sacking? Just wondering cause I feel like we're going to see a bad result and him being sacked would make it less painful.
LVG's luck against Roger's Liverpool has not carried over to Klopp despite us getting a narrow win in the league last time.

Can't see United keeping a clean sheet. As Awesome as De Gea is that United defence will concede. It's just a case of how many goals United can get in the other end.

Our season has been an absolute ordeal. We're fecking useless, the games are beyond atrocious and we also have to listen to our clueless manager's neverending delusional bullshit before and after every single shitfest.

The excitement before the games has been replaced by a specific mixture of hopelessness and being pissed off and it's because we've been watching our season slowly go to the shitter since the end of November. Thing is, we all saw it coming.

I still haven't missed a game this season and I'll watch us every time, but I'm counting the days until Van Gaal fecks off in May. I'm pretty sure that if Van Gaal happens to stay beyond the summer, many fans would just stop bothering.

    HERRERA MAKES CASE
Ander Herrera strongly disagrees with a question suggesting United lacked any fight at Anfield in the first leg. "We have another chance tomorrow," he stated. "We won't think about the past. Tomorrow will be completely different - Old Trafford is different. I think we are ready."

    YOUNGSTERS TREATED CAREFULLY
When asked about Marcus Rashford's continued involvement, the manager replies: "A coach needs to be careful with youngsters but all youngsters are different." Pressed on the game itself, he adds: "It's a big challenge for the players and the fans."

    TEAM NEWS
The manager told MUTV ahead of the press conference that it's still too early for Bastian Schweinsteiger to start and for Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia to be in the squad.

    BOSS: WE HAVE TO DELIVER
Louis van Gaal on the challenge facing United tomorrow: "We always owe the fans a big result because the fans pay to see that and we have to deliver."

    BOSS AND HERRERA FACE PRESS
Louis van Gaal and Ander Herrera are to address the media here at the Europa Suite inside Old Trafford. Updates will follow around 15:30 GMT.

    "WELL DONE, SON!"
"Well done, son," the boss tells Ander Herrera as the press conference draws to a close. Ander is now going to speak to MUTV and give a separate preview to the game.

    Fellaini question
“I cannot say if Fellaini plays tomorrow because then I give away part of my line-up and I don’t want to do that but Fellaini has his way of playing and he can give us a lot of qualities and has contributed in a lot of games in a very good way.”

    Herrera expects different game

“Tomorrow is going to be completely different.

“Old Trafford is different & the pitch is bigger & even the grass is better.”

    JAMES DIXON
    Herrera is ready
“We should have played much better at Anfield but when you have a game like that you have to think about the next challenge.

“I think we have good examples of the way we have to play against Liverpool. We have to score first.”

I want to have some of what he's smoking

I have been a United supporter (fanatic) for 46 years and I am almost always optimistic before big games especially if we are at home.A United goal anytime in the first half and its game on.
Its hard to be optimistic under the current regime though. We just don't have a fire eater like Bryan Robson or Roy Keane to lead from the front these days, sad to say.

Liverpool will know that 1 goal and they are through. Especially with Klopp at the helm, I can easily see them actually getting at us.
