    De Gea
    Varela Smalling Blind Rojo
    Carrick
    Herrera Bastian
    Januzaj-------------Martial
    Rashford

Basically a midfield that can pass the fecking ball (forward and quickly), wingers that will stretch the pitch and take players on and a striker that can take his chances.

Will never win a 2:0 loss. I predict a draw, Liverpool won't even try.

Next two games will be brutal, especially with only three days in between

    United 2-1 Liverpool
    City 3-0 United

We have to go at them from the off. The atmosphere will be buzzing and we must take advantage of it.

Personally I'd love to see a Herrera partner Schweinsteiger in the central midfield behind Mata as number 10. Playing Herrera will be vital.

Going to be very tense night for both sets of fans.
You score early and nerves could creep in for us. The thought of losing the tie with a 2-0 advantage is awful so the reality would be unbearable.
We score and I think your fans will be all over LVG for the rest of the game. Either way, it'll be a strange atmosphere and I think it'll end as a draw

There's not a referee corrupt enough to get us through this. But you never know, whoever they've put in charge might try.

A sending off or two for Liverpool in the opening minutes and it's ON!

I believe Januzaj is cup tied

We need to score 3, keep a clean sheet and we probably need to score an early, first half goal to open the game up.

We find it very difficult to score 3 or more goals, unless its a league 1 team or a team which was created a few years ago.
It won't be easy to keep a clean sheet with our defence.
We are a team who simply can't score a goal in the first half (take today as an example).

And lets not forget our form for the last 3 games: LLD.

Can see us getting a clean sheet. So we need an early goal. Think the disgrace we served up in the last game has ended the tie.

we scored 3 against arsenal but of course they responded with 2 themselves.

we'll do very well to be 2 goals up against liverpool and at the same time keep a clean sheet.

again, personally predicting a limp 1-1 draw where liverpool don't give all their best but van gaal will say we did fantastic by matching them or whatever.

Please LVG! I don't mind if we don't win Europa League but from all clubs that will knock us out from Europa League please don't let it be Liverpool. I know it sounds impossible but I really hope we go through to next round. 2-0 until 90th minutes and we scored the winner in extra time.

Martial center not on the left?

I would have him on the left if we had a proper striker. As much as I like Rashford, his hold up play needs a lot of work before he can play up top for us week in and week out. IMO, Martial should start as a 9 until we can add a proper striker.

Anyway, the front 3 is capable enough to interchange if the manager allows for fluidity in attack.

Liverpool are right where we want them to be...
Sitting on the most dangerous lead in football..

They have no idea what they're in for...

I'd rather play with ten men than see Lingard or Fellaini out there.

Hopefully Rashford will play on the right and Martial up top. ... Er, i guess that means Depay will play on the left.

Yeah it is a problem, I just think we lose our main threat taking Martial off the left. I'd be tempted to play Memphis up top.

If we score one, the tie is over. I hope we won't be complacent and go for the knockout blow, could be damaging for your confidence going into the City game. I'd be very happy with United drawing both games this week.

It's ok saying we need a early goal but when do United ever score early!? This will be a cagey affair and I can see Liverpool defending from the off. We need a mobile midfield for this one so stick with Herrera please.

I can see us going 2-0 up and then Liverpool scoring in the last few minutes, just can't see them not scoring unfortunately.

If the first half is anything like the first half against West Ham, we're as good as out.

I'd go 4-4-2... Rashford and Martial up front, Memphis and Lingard ('cos theres no one else) on the wings...

Thinking/hoping we'll get a goal on the counter & put the tie beyond reasonable doubt. We need a goal, I reckon.

LvG seems oblivious to the fact Blind is in need of a rest and I imagine his favorites, Lingard, Fellaini anmd Rojo will all start, but I'd like to see the below team.

Isn't TFM ineligible for this competion or has something changed since last week ?

I just can't see any positive outcome from the next two games. This after an already shite week just gone with our losses to WBA and Liverpool and that absolute shitshow yesterday. Ugh.

So we've scored 4 goals once this season against Brugge way back in August. We've only scored 4 goals or more three times while LVG has been in charge:

QPR last season in the PL (4-0)
City last season in the PL (4-2)
Brugge this season in CL Qualy (4-0)
Midtjylland this season in EL (5-1)

Thanks for posting those 1984 clips above. What a comeback that was.

Hard to see us turning it around on Thursday, but anything can happen on the night. After the defeat last week I almost didn't want to go to the return leg, but now I can't wait because I know the atmosphere will be electric. Worst-case scenario, we lose the tie but we still drown out the scousers.

But oh man, what if we do turn it around? All throughout history, top sides have gone on to achieve great things after a special moment. For us in '99 you could argue it was Giggs' heroics at Villa Park. We've looked so short of confidence over the course of the past few years that a win on Thursday could be monumental in terms of what we achieve in the years ahead.

I just pray we can keep it tight. It will be some game if we're 1-0 up with ten minutes to go.

We've beat Sunderland, Stoke, Everton, Shrewsbury and Ipswich 3-0 this season... and last season we beat Hull, Tottenham and Cambridge 3-0...

If you look closely, all the letters of 'Liverpool' are contained within those team names.

    It's on!

This is going to be a horrible week. It's just like under Moyes, absolutely no optimism ahead of these games.

Don't think we're half as bad at home as we are away which is why I'm more worried about the city game. We may beat Liverpool - we're more than capable - Liverpool aren't as good as people are now making out on here - it's just our ability to put chances away when they come our away I'm bothered about.

 Typical Liverpool. Win three games in a row and ye are Barcelona. Id be confident of beating Liverpool but doubt we'll go through. So cop on about the damaging confidence ya clown.

Fellaini will be in the team as LvG thinks he's doing a great job so our already slim chances become a nigh impossibility.
