    Damn that non-existent away goal.

But sometimes when you go in expecting nothing, things happen. Or somesuch...

2-0 is always a dangerous lead in football, but unless we score early and obviously first, it's almost hopeless. Liverpool will gradually go deeper into their cave to protect the lead as the game progresses.

I'd be interested to see the stats on this "most dangerous lead" thing that people trot when talking about two goal advantages. Here's my best guess about strength of leading positions, in descending order of "dangerousness":
    1 goal
    2 goals
    3 goals
    4 goals
    5 goals
    etc.

    1 goal - DANGER ZONE
2 goals - You are entering a zone of danger
3 goals - Keep Kenny Loggins on stand-by
4 goals - Well, 4 in and the barkeep just disappears, along with his tip
5 goals - Uhhh... I swore I had something for this...

    De Gea
    Varela--Smalling--Blind--Rojo
    Schneiderlin--Herrera
    Lingard--Mata--Memphis
    Martial

subs: Romero, Darmian, McNair, Schweinsteiger, Fellaini, Pereira, Rashford

Basti on around the 55th - 60th minute mark. I know Pereira won't be involved but I hope he is.

Carrick surely will be on the bench ahead of Pereira and Williams is now ahead of McNair.

Ah yeah I forgot about Carrick. Not sure if Williams is ahead of McNair because he was on the bench ahead of Fosu in the last match vs West Ham but is he ahead of him? If he is ahead of McNair though I will be happy because I don't rate McNair.

Almost inevitable that we’re getting knocked out tonight, I just hope we go out fighting and not put in a pathetic performance. Not much to ask for.

This was one of the best nights at OT I ever went to.

We lost 4-0 in the away leg and shouldn't have been on the same pitch as Porto.

Had to score 5 at home. We did that but conceded 2 unfortunately.

This is the spirit we need tonight. If we must go out then make the scousers fight tooth and nail for it.

Luckhurst is saying that Blind and Herrera are not in the squad.

So Rojo in center and CBJ at full back?

    No Herrera is a blow.

Why would we need legs in midfield against a high press team like Liverpool? We can always hoof it to Fellaini after all...

    Genius. Philosophy.

Think both of them are injured. There's no chance that both of have been dropped from the bench for a match like this. Not a chance.

    Probably Darmian at LB.

Hopefully Schweinsteiger is able to play a significant part.

The manager said yesterday that Basti isn't ready to start, finding match rhythm and all that.

Let's hope he was playing mind games. If not, Fellaini and Schneiderlin again...

Herrera did the presser yesterday. Weird.

United squad: De Gea, Romero, Valencia, Darmian, Varela, Smalling, Williams, Borthwick-Jackson, Rojo, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Fellaini, Carrick, Lingard, Mata, Memphis, Martial, Rashford

Feck this, I'm going to be optimistic and say the players will come out fighting! 4-1 to United!

Lets smash the bin dipping cnuts!

    Happy fecking St Paddy's!

To think that only yesterday Van Gaal was saying that Valencia wouldn't make the game...as I said above you can never count on the veracity of anything he says..Happens with a lot of old goats who live in cloudcuckooland.

    4-1-4-1

Would like Valencia to start though I've not been following enough to know if he is ready yet? If not then Lingard

I think he's just making up numbers since Blind & Herrera are out. He has played 45 mins for the U21's so he could probably do alright for a bit. Not sure why he said that though unless he's actually out.

I am coming to the conviction that LVGs termination date has been set, much like Moyes' was and nothing he does from here will change when he gets fired.

With that in mind, I hope we smash you. Otherwise, I'd be happy to just go through if it meant LVG staying longer.

    Well after seeing that squad:

    De Gea
    Varela--Smalling--Rojo--Darmian
    Schneiderlin--Fellaini
    Lingard--Mata--Memphis
    Martial

subs: Romero, CBJ, Williams, Schweinsteiger, Carrick, Valencia, Rashford

Or it will be Darmian RB and Borthwick LB. We're out.

So Schweiny won't start and Herrera isn't even in the squad? Fellaini it is.

    DDG

    Smalling - Carrick - Darmian

    Varela ---------------------------- Rojo
    Schneiderlin
    Mata --------- Fellaini
    ------------------------ Memphis
    Martial

If Blind is out, I'd imagine we'll go Rojo at CB and Borthwick-Jackson at LB. It's not the end of the world.

I hadn't watched a Barcelona match in awhile, but I did yesterday. After seeing them destroy Arsenal, I don't know if I can make myself watch this abysmal tie with the form United and Liverpool are in. It's almost torture.
