Has Garnacho ever looked as effective on the right? When was the last time we tried Rashford on the right?

The positive is that we’ll likely be sitting deep and hit on the counter which is one thing Rashford has always done well at.
I really like Garnacho on the right.

Control Jota and close our left side and we will be fine. It is so simple playing Liverpool nowdays.

Rashford really needs to start delivering, ETH seems obsessed with him but he tends to stink the place out more often than not.
His problem seems to be motivation. That's why he tends to show up in the big games, as he gets fired up.

This is the perfect game for him to score.

harsh on Amad. Should have started instead of Rashford for sure.

Based on what? Amad wasnt exactly amazing last game. He scored but also had some really bad moments by making the wrong decision at a crucial time. He could and maybe should have had 2 goals and 2 assists that game but he only got 1 goal.

Rashford wasnt amazing either but to say that Amad should start over Rashford 'for sure' seems over the top.

I read up this morning that RVN as been staying behind in training to do 1 to 1 sessions with him. Time will tell whether it pays of or not

Starting Rashford over Amad is lunacy. ETH might require psychological help, perhaps?

When I look at our bench ATM - and yes we have key injuries - I don't get why we didn't hold onto Scotty at least until the winter transfer window

The stated policy is to have two players for each position. DM is Casemiro or Ugarte. Selling Casemiro would have been better but nobody wanted him for obvious reasons.

Garnacho is due a goal. Ridiculous miss against Fulham and ridiculous unlucky offside against Brighton.

Time to make up for those!

Why does it feel like we have 6+ players missing every single match day since ETH took over

    Finances.

Somebody had to be sold for decent enough money to sign Ugarte, and unfortunately no-one wanted to give us money this window for the likes of Casemiro, Antony, Sancho (except on loan), etc.

McTominay would definitely have been a good squad player to keep - but a squad player had to go to afford a starter in Ugarte, and he was the one that had suitors (probably for the same reason why he'd be the one we'd ideally prefer to keep, and why those we'd like to shift out lacked any suitors willing to pay for them).

Slot under Liverpool are a bit slower in the build up from what I have seen, which may suit Utd, draw them on and counter, Garnacho to score today.
I think that's just who they've played. They've been doing this "knock it about at the back until VVD has room for a switch" thing for years now, but it takes longer to invite pressure from the likes of Ipswich Town. Slot hasn't really changed anything yet as far as I can tell.

Although Gravenberch has been playing as a 6 and getting away with it. You'd think Ten Hag will look to target him a bit in that role.

People better be used to our bench looking thin.
We can’t say « we should get rid of players xyz no matter what » and complain we have nobody on the bench

Bench obvious not the most ideal but after the break it should be looking like

Bayindir, Hojlund/Zirkzee, Amad, Ugarte/Casemiro, Shaw, Collyer, Eriksen, Antony, Maguire/Evans/Lindelof

Rashford done this quite well historically tbf

But lately every time he's drive playing this well he's miscontrolled the pass or scuffed his lines. It would be huge if he could score today and get some confidence going but he has to stop playing so afraid.

Cant understand why he is picking this hill to die on, it really is mind boggling
I’m no massive Rashford fan but surely his plan is Zirk as a target man off of the breaks and him playing the speedy Garnacho and Rashford in to try and stretch the pool defence.

If that is the plan Rashford is probably the most suited in the squad to this. Somewhat how we used Martial during the pinacle of ole ball with Rashford and Greenwood feeding off of him.

    It is.

    Mount
    Hojlund
    Yoro
    Shaw

    will change that.

true....but all of them are out for a couple months and our season could well be fecked by the time they return to give us some much needed depth though Mount has been shit

Rashford has troubled Trent in the past for all the whinging.
He's played him like a dozen times, he's had some good games and some bad games.

What we're effectively saying here is Rashford has licence to never score and never play well and still get picked because he had some good games years ago, before he physically declined.

Or the other excuse for playing Rashford all season is "Garnacho’s better on the right" so Rashford has basically got the left wing spot locked up all season because no one else can play there.

Where is the accountability if he's guaranteed a starting spot every game despite being shite every game?

The problem is, he's meant to be our biggest goal threat, and he couldn't score a single goal from open play in pre season and hasn't scored in the competitive games this season either. If he can't score, what does he offer?

So unfair to Amad. Player of the month and yet Rashford who has not contributed anything in the last 2 games, get picked.

Annoy with the 2 GK subs. Can't just reward any youth player for experience?

Weak bench .. for this match. Good starting 11 we see how they do.

What has Amad done that is so great that he should start?
When was the last time Marcus Rashford had a genuinely good game? Not even baiting, I cannot remember.

Amad isnt good enough to start these games, he was terrible against Brighton.

Rashford shouldnt be starting either but we have no options on the left unless we put Antony their as we didnt sign a replacement for Sancho.
Rashford was both worse and didn't score.

Having Rashford tire the wingback and then put on Amad later on to capitalise on their defensive line having to run after one-dimensional Rashford by putting on a player with quicker feet and better control is actually not the worst idea in the world.
